Even for legendary Apple, WDS pain to set up!

Wow! It took me over 2 hours to set up WDS and I have to tell you it was a painful affair.
I have an Airport Extreme base station which I use as the main base station and then an Airport Express which I use at the remote.
That was the idea.
First I tried setting up WDS using Airport Assistant Setup and that didn't work. It kept saying unable to read configuration of the base station when it was updating the WDS settings.
Second, I called up Apple tech support and due to various reasons (my own), they emailed me the article telling me how to set up WDS.
Third, I followed the article Apple tech gave and even then I could not complete all the directions. Apple Admin Utility could not do the WDS setup automatically for unknown reasons. It just kept saying unable to read the remote base station's configuration when it was setting up WDS. It was able to read the configuration of both stations PRIOR to WDS.
Finally, I went and did it manually and what I did seemed to work:
a) I did a hard reset of the express (remote) base station.
b) Then manually set up WDS for both main station and remote station making sure I did not change any of the factory defaults UNTIL AFTER WDS was set up.
Finally some 2 hours later it worked.
I consider myself an expert on Mac stuff having used them since 1989 but this WDS set up thing was a total pain!
I was beginning to think my Airport Express might be faulty because I did buy it refurbished from Apple. I pray now that my network remains stable!

I live in an adobe house. My Powerbook G4 alum 15" loses the airport extreme base station signal as soon as I am out of the same room with it and my PowerPC G4 in the next room cannot pick up the signal. My new little G5 macBook gets the best range-- up to 100 feet away! Do I need a WDS network -- if so, what is it and how do I start to build and piece one together?

Had same set up - tried all througth Utilities Via Application. Final setup was the olde Favourite, Paper Cip, hold on for 15 seconds, then back to Utilities,,,,, and as we say in England "Bob's yer Uncle.
Surprised you had a problem with Apple Support...... since '84, had my 18th computer (MACBOOK) and is a 'Lemon, they are replacing it.. Go to Level ONE mate..... there all computent. Stay Happy. Jonathan

Click here and use Apple's iForgot service, or contact their Account Security team, or if you're the device's original owner, take it and its purchase receipt to a physical Apple Store.

On your Mac, try to access your gmail account. There should be a link you click for "Forgot My Password". Click it and try to retrieve your password.

G4 Mirror, no power at all even for the Apple 15" LCD display

I bought an used G4 Mirror along with the matching Apple 15 LCD display.
The problem is that it won't power up at all. Not even a hint of fan noise or a light indication.
Funny thing was that it was working fine when it was at the seller's home.
I did everything from replugging every connections possible such as the internal power cables, data cables, resitting the CPU, hard drive, graphic card, etc. I even pressed the power botton hard for longer time but it didn't work.
One thing I've noticed is that the touch sensitive lighted switch located on the Apple LCD monitor isn't lighting up when connected to the G4 via ADC connection. Also, the touch switch is not responsive to the touch at all.
The G4 won't power up without the monitor as well.
Does it mean that I have a dead power supply?

I forgot to mention that I did place a brand new PRAM battery as well.
I also checked the RAM and just about everything else I could imagine.
I'm not completely clueless with the PC troubleshooting as I do build PC time to time. But this Mac is dead as a log when the power switch is pressed on.
I have another beige Mac that has no trouble booting up without the PRAM battery. I have a PC that will boot even without the battery, RAM, graphic card, CPU, fans, etc.
I haven't had a chance to buy the multimeter yet. But I too am suspicious about the PSU. I even opened up the PSU but I saw no blown capacitors, burnt transistors or anything that looks abnormal. Is there a website where they can DIY fix Mac Mirror PSU?

How do I get the user name and password for the Apple Extreme Router to set up my Slingbox? It will not accept the Apple Extreme Name and password.

The AirPort Extreme does not have a User Name, but it does have a device name and device password, which you may have already tried.
There is also a Wireless Network Name and Wireless Network Password for the AirPort Extreme, which might be what the Slingbox is looking for if you are trying to connect it to your wireless network.
There are no other "user names" or "passwords" on the AirPort Extreme.
You established the device name, device password, wireless network name and wireless network password when you originally configured the AirPort Extreme.
If you cannot remember these, you will need to perform a Soft Rest to reset everything. Follow the instructions in this Apple support document:

I have just bought a new IPAD. It has never been synced with a computer or via itunes on a computer, I tried to set it up using my APPLE ID and mobile number, it prompted me to connect to ITUNES. Unsure of what to do next, I closed it and took it to work. When I opened it one hour later it prompted me for the passcode. I never set up a passcode. I tried various combinations (my husband iphone, birthdates, kids passcodes etc) to see if somehow it had linked itself to their passcode. I called the shop I bought it from and was advised it would cost me 70 dollars to have it reset. I feel completely devastated that I haven't even been able to use the IPAD and I am already stuck. Can anyone offer some solid advice?

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I would be concerned too if my iPhone was acting this way. It sounds like it is overheating and not holding a charge. I recommend following the steps listed below when experiencing an issue like this:
Battery life seems short
Click ( www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html) for tips on how to prolong iPhone's battery life.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Connect iPhone to iTunes and restore iPhone.
If the screen shows a low-battery image, the battery is low on power and needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it.
When charging iPhone, make sure to leave it charging until it is fully charged. You'll know the battery is fully charged when the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen looks like this .
Note: When charging using a computer, don't connect iPhone to a keyboard. Also, the computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPhone battery may drain.

ATV cannot play movies from the TC, even if it is on your home network.. ATV is a streamer.. it is not a media player.. and the TC is a dumb as a board hard disk in a router.. so it has nothing in it either.
You cannot play movies from ATV without itunes, which streams to the ATV.
If the iMac is running 24/7 then you should be able to connect to the iMac remotely and run from iTunes on that, which could then play movies stored on the TC.. with the following issues.. if you use wireless on the iMac forget it. The iMac has to be ethernet connected as it has to pick up the movie on the library and play it back to the TC to network to your home.
The next issues is speed of slowest connection.
Your download to your home maybe great.. what is the upload speed from your office like??
If you pay for uploads and downloads you will pay for the movie 3x.. first to download it.. second to upload it.. office to net.. and third to download it again.. net to home.. Sorry but it is better to play the movie directly from online itunes store.
If you plan to try and play non-itunes movies over the connection, it won't work.. ATV as stated is linked to itunes and cannot play movie files.
Overall this sounds like you need to think it out a bit more.

Welcome to the Apple community.
So long as you are logged into the iTunes Store, using the correct ID and password (settings >store), then you will always have access to your apps, books, music, TV shows etc etc bought via the iTunes Store on that account.

You have to first create your account on an Apple device. You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC by signing with your Apple ID. If you are within 14 days of purchase you can still return the iPhone and get the phone that suits your needs, however, I think you will find that no matter which phone you get the content provider will want to know how you are going to pay for future purchases. For Android phones it is Google, and they will certainly want to know.
