Even in a strong wifi signal environment, my iPad has begun to load very slowly.

This is a recent occurrence.

1. Close all inactive apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two and tap the minus sign to close app.
2. Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo

can I set up to connect 2 or 3 airport expresses to have a stronger wifi signal for a larger area?

Theoretically yes. It will really depend on your situation. Please review the following Apple Support article to understand what is possible with the AirPort base stations and post back with any questions or help in setting up your extended network.

I bought the Airport Extreme because I thought it would increase the range of the WiFi signal in my house. I have a DSL modem (also Wifi) and there are parts of the house that do not seem to have a strong Wifi signal. The Airport Extreme does not seem to be increasing my Wifi signal strength? Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong? I am able to connect to it, etc. Just thought the strength would be better.

The broadcast power of all wireless routers and devices is limited by law.....and all manufacturers run their routers full blast.....so the relative signal strength of wireless routers from one manufacturer to another will tend to be remarkably similar.....despite the fancy advertising claims.
You may want to consider adding another AirPort Extreme to "extend" the signal strength in your home. If you decide to do this, the "extending" Extreme would normally need to be located at a point that is approximately half the distance from your "main" AirPort Extreme and the general area that needs more wireless coverage.

  • My ipad cannot access Internet although I have strong wifi signal

My ipad cannot access Internet suddenly although I have strong wifi signal & my iphone, macbook and other laptops can connect to the wifi network. I tried to reset the network settings, connect to itunes, check the router. but it doesn't work. Can anyone help me please to solve this problem? Thank you very much

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Have iPad 2 and also iPad. Why does old iPad get stronger wifi signal?

Why does  my new iPad 2 have a low wifi signal, while sitting next to first iPad that has strong wifi signals?  All settings are the same.

That's unlikely since the iOS and hardware in this area should be identical.
If you are having reception problems take your iPad2 to an Apple store for some testing.

  • Strong Wifi signal but SLOOOWWW connection? Help!

    Dear Folks,
I'm getting terrible throughput to the outside world over my home Wifi network with the iPad. Yeah it's DSL, but the performance is far, far below normal for that. Both my Macs are connecting wirelessly just fine. But most of the efforts to get online via the iPad (Safari, iTunes store, App Store, etc.) just time out before completion, or with a screen only partially loaded.
Ain't a signal strength thing. I'm getting three "arcs" and I'm sitting in the same room with the wireless modem. No RF problems here, bucko! Ironically, my neighbor has an unprotected Wifi network and even though I only get one "arc" of signal strength linking to it, that performs great. Data throughput is plenty fast, no problem logging into websites, app store, etc. via her network.
Clearly I have a config problem that is specific to my network and the iPad, since other computers and other networks work fine. But I can't figure out what.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Ctein

    Dear Jim,
Thanks for your help-- here's additional info:
    1) I don't know what service class and carrier my neighbor has. I mentioned it only to note that this demonstrated that signal strength was not the obvious problem. (Aside from the fact I'm sitting 1.5 meters from the router.)
    2) Run off my MacBook Pro on the home network, speedtest reported 1.3Mb/sec download speed, 300Kb/sec upload speed and 119 msec ping. IOW, typically mediocre DSl, but serviceable. The speedtest app can't even procure a server list on the iPad via my home network, and it times out (this happens with both the normal DNS of 192.168.1.1 and after I added OpenDNS of 208.67.222.222). If I log into the neighbor's network with speedest, the iPad connects fine, reporting download and upload speeds ca 2Mb/sec.
A service like the Google Maps app can function, but it loads maps VERY slowly. Safari simply times out 9 times out of 10.
    3) Router is an 802.11g -- Netgear WGR614 v6.
    4) DHCP settings on the iPad are
    IP Address: 192.168.1.3
    Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
    Router and DNS: both 192.168.1.1
(these are consistent with what the router reports)
    Router settings are
Get IP Address dynamically from ISP
    Get DNS automatically from ISP
broadcast on channel 7 in both g & b modes.
    WEP enabled
    5) Latest OS-- 3.2.1, but I was having the same problem with OS 3.2.
    Any clues here?
The help is much appreciated! I just hate this network stuff-- still makes me feel stupid every time something goes wobbly.

  • After iOS 8 wifi is being disabled automatically on its own. Even after tapping on wifi signal downward notification link, problem is not solved.

After I got updated to iOS 8 on iPhone 5c purchased 3 months back, after I tapped on wifi symbol in notification tab, first there will be a signal on top left corner but when I open safari it showed " there is no network or wifi" with message of "cellular data turned off ". Again I have to open settings and turned off and on wifi to get the signal and connected to network. There is no problem with my wifi signal or network but I don't use cellular data at all. Kindly look into the issue and provide me with a solution. Thank you apple and Tim cook. Rip Steve Jobs.

    I have an iPhone 5C.
iOS 8.0 disabled my Wi-Fi. Actually not just disabled, it made my phone behave as it did not have W-Fi.  I could not re-enable wi-fi.
Restarting my phone or resetting network settings made me no difference.
    Solution:
Power down iPhone for a few minutes
Power-up and Wi-Fi is back again!
After updating to the latest iOS 8.0.2 it disabled my Wi-Fi again. Following the power-down procedure above fixed it.

  • I have a wifi signal on my iPad 2 but it can't connect to internet

iPad 2 has wifi signal, but unable to connect to internet. I am also going through an AirPortExtreme.

I've done that several times. Still no connection. Also all of the menu items are greyed out while in Airport utility. I've reloaded it and still can't seem to get BaseStation. 2 Days ago Comcast went down. When it came back on, I wasn't able to use the iPad.Comcast reset the signal several times. This is   a brand new airport, but I exchanged it being as I was not able to connect or even get a signal.  At least right now the iPad has a signal ,after much hit or miss actions on my part.I feel like I'm chasing my tail. Very frustrating.Any help would be appreciated. You can probably hear me screaming at my computer at this point. I also did a search on the iMac,also brand new, to locate BaseStation...nothing. That's after using the cd that came w/ the AirPort.

  • My Wifi connection on my ipad has slowed since installing IOS7?

I've tried all the reset options; 'forget' wifi connection, airplane mode, reset (network and all settings), then turn off airplane mode and reconnect wifi. No resultThe other option I've been offered is to change settings on my router. Unfortunately, that's impossible if my Safari search engine won't work because of the weak wifi connection so I can't access the router through my browser. Incidentally, my iphone 5 and MacBook are experiencing no such problems and the problem only began on my ipad after installing ios7. So is it not time for Apple to get their finger out and solve this anomaly?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • HT204400 Apple TV drops strong wifi signal.

Everything up to date with reliable 50Mbps internet, Apple TV works with Cat 5 cable, but drops streams frequently and lags airplay when connected wirelessly. It is 10 feet away from the router. why? Restarted multiple times, checked software version multiple times, restarted router, restarted MBP, it just won't stay connected. Is there a fix coming for this?

I'm not having a problem with the speed of the internet, I'm having a problem with it staying connected... yes I know it's a wifi issue that's obvious... thanks for pointing that out.
Nohting for Apple to fix? hmmmm, well Two Samsung phones never drop the signal, a Samsung TV never drops the signal, a Samsung Tab 2 never drops the signal, an iPad Mini never drops the signal, a Macbook Pro never drops the signal.... but for some reason the Apple TV drops the signal 20+ times during one movie and it won't stream airplay.
Not to mention multiple other posts complaining about it staying connected even using Apple Airport.
So hopefully there are other people who will read this post that can respond with more than just pointing out the obvious. I mean seriously theres gotta be something that can be fixed or something because thus far Apple products have been impressive, this doesn't seem to fit their M.O.

  • HT5503 I am unable to update my iPad 2 to the new iOS 6 software. I have tried troubleshooting (i.e., making sure I have a strong wifi connection, having the iPad plugged in/charged to 100%, etc). It seems as if no matter what it try, I can't update. Help

I have no idea how to solve this problem. Are there any suggestions?

I have an new iPad that I updated over WiFi, but I could not update my iPod Touch over Wifi for reasons unknown. The download kept stalling at the "preparing software" stage so I used iTunes on my Mac to update the iPod Touch.
Either keep trying, or resign yourself to the fact that you just may have to use a computer.

  • I recently upgraded my internet service to be faster on myIMac tiger 10.4.11 and that lasted about a day. Now not only do I get TBBFH but even opening up let's say Face book it loads very slowly . It's not the BBFH but next to the facebook it's a circle o

Even when I am using Safari or Firefox  the spinning wheel of lines especially for face book just keeps spinning and it takes forever to load my pages. It was faster than this before I upgraded my internet service. I Check the speeds and those are fine (using a internet speed test). I have emptied all of my caches, cleaned my Mac with (Clean My Mac), I've taken out all old files, pictures, cleared my widgits, and I don't know what else to do. Is there some configuration I need to address some where inmy preferences? Do Ihave to just live with it? I do want to upgrade to Snow Leopard but, I can't afford that at this moment. Any ideas please forward. Another issue I have is that my IMac will not accept a DVD+Rdl but will accept any and all other DVD' and CD's what could cause that?
    Sincerely,
    Rochichi98

A warm welcome to Apple discussions!
A 2003 iMac cannot support Snow Leopard 10.6; you'd need an Intel processor and that cannot be retrofitted to your Mac. What does "About this Mac" in your Apple menu say  for your processor speed? What does it say about how much RAM you have?
If the processor is 1ghz or faster, you can run OS 10.5; otherwise, you are maxed out at 10.4.11.
Also, are you running any commercial ("pay for") anti-virus or security software? They are notorious for slowing most Macs to a fraction of their speed potential.
A too-full hard drive can drag down performance, especially if you don't have a lot of physical RAM installed. If you single-click your hard drive icon and then do command i, you'll see the disk usage. Looks like this:
The value for "Used" should be no more than about 90 percent of "Capacity." In the example image, that drive has about 34 percent of its space used and 66 percent free--more than enough. Please post what you see for your Capacity and Used numbers
There are a few more things we might check but this is a good start.
    Awaiting your information,
    Allan
