Even structure time

Can anybody tell me in what format the time is in the event structure?
I need the time an event is executing, but if I convert it from seconds to Date/Time it give me a spurious date/time.
If I use a get time “Get Time/Date I Seconds”, I get the current time.
I’m using Labview 8.2 on XP O/S

How to run my vi from a front panel control without using even structure in the vi

Hello, I would like to run my vi from a front pannel control instead of the tool bar RUN botton. I am using LV6.1 without the even structure feature, so I can't do as proposed by a previous posting by setting the vi to run at open in a "do nothing state" then taking the front panel control event and switching the vi into another ("running") state. I wonder is there some other type of solutions to this problem. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Dennis, thank you for the reply. I tried with the attached vi. It can only run once (also not in the correct state I want), as the control i placed on the front pannel will stop the VI. I want to have the vi do nothing when it is opened and start counting when the start botton is pressed. Then i want it stop counting when the botton is pressed again...and so on... I must need a different structure to get it work, or did I miss something simple? Thanks again.

Have you verified that the original files are missing from the Originals/Masters folder? There are time when the library might appear empty due to a damaged database file but still has the files. If you can open the library package via the Finder to see if the files are really missing or just can't be seen by iPhoto there are fixes you can try.
If the files are there make a temporary, backup copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I have managed to get FireFox's start-up memory usage down to about 100,000K, however it appears that memory usage keeps creeping up the longer FireFox is open. (It seems to top out around 500,000K.) And I'm not talking open for many hours or days - but rather for minutes and possibly up to a couple hours. (Based on how long I've been fiddling with all this so far.)
On the plus side, it does not appear GreaseMonkey is the culprit since with it active or disabled this memory creep still occurs. Although having GreaseMonkey enabled definitely increases the rate of memory creep. Though once it has creeped up to 150,000+K, disabling GM does not make it drop back down to the starting 100,000K.
I should point out I run a MacBook Pro and use Bootcamp to partition the hard drive and run it as a Windows 7 PC about half the time. I am running it literally as a PC or, alternately, as a Mac depending on which hard drive I choose to load. (I'm not "windowing" it.) This problem exists regardless of whether I am using the PC or the Mac. These repairs have been made currently on the PC side, and I will attempt them all again on the Mac side. I find it odd that this enormous memory drain has occurred on 3 different computers at the same time. (The two "halves" of my home laptop as well as the PC at my work place.)

Resample an even spaced time stamp signal to a uneven spaced signal

I have a 1D array and generate a signal using building waveform with dt of 2e-8. I picked some elements from the array which is not even spaced (the indexes are 1,4,8,9,13......) and built a new array, I know the time array which is corresponded to the new array , how to use the new array and new time array to generate another signal?

What are you going to do with this new signal? Is it just for display on the front panel or are you planning on outputing this through a DAQ card?
Assuming it is just for display, you could take your array of indices and multiply by your dt. This would be your X array for sending to an XY graph along with your built array of the Y values.
If you are going to send to a DAQ card, you are going to need to maintain a waveform where the data points are evenly spaced to match the output rate of the card. Then the question is to you want to maintain a steady signal for the period of time between 1 indice and the next. Or do you want the missing indices to be a linear interpretation between the known points.
Let's say you have 0,4,5,9 as 0,1,2,3, do you want it to remain 0 volts from time 0 to 4, then jump to 1 at time 4, 2 at time 5, and hold steady until it jumps to 3 at time9. Or have it linearly increase from 0 to 1 between time 0 and 4.
Whatever you do, you will have to maintain you large array with evenly spaced time elements anf fill the elements between you known indices as necessary.

Checked out that link and everything seems to be in order on this machine at this time.
I only have CC installed on this one machine, not even my secondary machine like is permitted. it seems odd that I'm asked to re-accept the Licence Agreement as often as I am. If I had to guess, it's almost every week, if not multiple times some weeks, that all the software will decide I should have to view the licence agreement.
Edit: I've never had any noticeable "errors" activating or anything like that. I just get asked to do it quite frequently.
This activation screen isn't too annoying (it involves clicking one single button), but like I stated earlier, if I'm trying to launch the software by double-clicking on a PSD, AI, PPROJ, AEP, etc... that file will fail to open.
I feel like that's probably not really a bug, but it is frustrating, since I did launch the application with the intent to edit that specific file I tried to open.
Again, something that you guys may consider working on.
Another annoyance is that: agreeing to the licence agreement is a per-application task, so if I see that Licence Agreement dialogue window by opening Photoshop (for example), I know that every other piece of software I have in the suite (Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Audition) will be showing me that screen on it's next launch. Probably deliberate for legal purposes that I can't just agree once for the whole suite, but heck, it would save me a lot of minor headaches if it was a unified agreement.

Even structure/Mouse Selection

This is my first attempt at a .vi that seems to need an event structure. I am a student in a research lab and my LabView experience is really learn as you go up till now. The program is designed to track a scanner using two linear pots and read in the voltage measurement. I am using an intensity graph to show the values recorded. What I was told to look into doing was replacing the intensity graph with picture functions so that we had more freedom in the movement of the scanner, which so far seems to be true.
Currently I am blocking the analog measurements because we don't have the parts, and modeling the movement with controls. The step I am working on now is to be able to select part of the picture and get the data from it. This can be done by saving part of the picture or reading in the data itself corresponding to that part of the picture or (preferably) both. I don't have any experience thus far with even structures except for playing around with them to try to get this to work. The way I have it set up currently seems to completely bog down the system because with it enabled the other functionality appears lost (or just takes forever).
So basically I'm looking for help to correctly implement what I have attempted here. As usual I would also appreciate general design critiques (gently).

Ah cardinal sin of new LabVIEW users. I have a post on the forum from my early days where I did the same thing. No need for two event structures in one loop. You can add multiple event cases by right clicking and choosing add event case. Then add your mouse down event to the same event structure as the mouse up event is in already. However, I know why you are doing it. It is so the rest of the code doesn't execute until the mouse up event happens. If you have only one event structure, as soon as you press the mouse down your code will execute, but you won't have the mouse up coordinates. Yes, this will create a problem . However, a better (more complex, but better) way to do this is to dynamically register and unregister mouse events. This is demonstrated in an example that ships with LabVIEW called "dynamically register for events". It is easier to understand than it may seem when first looking at it, but if you need help, continue to post questions.
And to answer the bold part, it sounds like you need parallel threads. Look at producer consumer architecture which will allow the graph to keep updating while the user is clicking around. The forum is littered with posts on this.

Why does iCal list birthdays 3, 4, 5 even 6 times on the date??

This is getting worse! Instead of the birthday appearing once on each birthdate, I now get 3 or 4 and in some cases even 6 of the exact same "all day" list of birthdays!
In the past I have tried to delete all but 1 - but now they are back in greater numbers than before!
Is there a way to eliminate all these numerous birthdate announcements and then restart iCal to have it just take the ones from Address Book and list one time, not many?
I have MenuCalendarClock for iCal installed but have NOT chosen to have MenuCalendarClock set-up any birthdays or transfer anything.
Thanks as this is getting a bit crazy! And I don't want to NOT HAVE ANY birthdays- I like having them and the alarms etc.

I have the same issue, but I think I know why. I believe it is becasue you may have more than one contact list synced. I have got my contacts synced with Yahoo and I think iCal is also listing the birthdays on these contacts along side the same birthdays for the contacts stored on my machine. I only get 1 set of birthdays if I turn of the sync with Yahoo. Kind of defeats the purpose of the sync of contacts though then!

User event or event structure time-out

Hi,
I have two VIs one is a producer, one consumer.
The consumer VI is called programatically (i.e. not wired) when the producer VI is run
Both have user interfaces using an event structure.
I have a control on the producer that i wish to use to trigger an event in/pass a value to the consumer VI. I have implemented this in two ways, but am not sure which is the 'preffered solution'.
Solution 1:
Detect control activation in the producer VI using event structure, load new value in to a global variable.
Use the time out event case in the consumer VI to load the value from the global variable.
Solution 2:
Set up a user event in the producer VI, load the Event Registration Refnum in to a global variable, use the event structure to create a new event when the control value is changed by the user.
Use Event Registration Refnum global variable in the consumer VI to trigger the event structure (loaded once, when the VI is first loaded).
Solution two means the time-out event case does not need to be active, meaning the consumer VI will be doing nothing except waiting for either the user event, or direct user interaction. It will also not have the potential time delay of up to 1 x the time-out value of the event structure. It does require a sequenced start of each VI for the Event Registration Refnum to be loaded in to the global variable before the global variable is read by the consumer VI.
My end application will be utilising a number of consumer VIs and will require user interaction information from the producer to be passed to them. Which proposed structure would be the generally accepted better practice?
...or if i've missed the best solution, where should i be looking?

Can't open iWeb 09 even after Time Machine restore to new

Well I broke it!
I tried to open a saved iWeb html file that was saved from my old Intel Mac Mini running iWeb 08 that I Migrated over via Firewire. I even tried to restore iWeb using Time Machine, from when it worked new out of the box, no luck. When I click on the iWeb icon a small window pops up:
Can't open file "~/Desktop/WebSite/About_Me.html."
Locked up. So is there a file that I can modify back to where I had it? Thanks

iWeb can't open html files. It can't import them, either.

Can I disconnect the external hard drive even if Time Machine is set to back up every so often?

I noticed that Time Machine backs up the system ever so often. What happens if I disconnect the external hard drive I'm using as the back up and Time Machine tries to initiate a back up? Will it corrupt anything?

As long as you properly eject the drive before unplugging it, TM will detect that is no longer mounted and will not do anything until you plug it back and OS X mounts the drive again.
TM was designed with the knowledge in mind that many people would be using it with laptops, and thus inherently unplugging and plugginh in their TM backup devices many times.

Issue while creating a heirarchy using Hierarchy Structure Time dependent

Hi every body
I created an Info object(SREP) with Heirarchy Strututre Time Dependent property. When i am creating an Heirarchy for the info object(SREP) i am not able to see any text node by default, do we need to create it explicitly or system would propose one node by defalut..
I created a text node manually then and tried to assign an another info object(SREG) as a child using an option of "Insert Characterstic", but i am getting a message as "InfoObject SREG is not entered for InfoObject SREP as a Foreign Heirarchy Characterstic", and system is again proposing to assign some info object as a child.

Lost events not even in Time Machine restore.

I've had all of my events disappear from iCal as well. I'm running Lion on my laptop and Snow Leopard on my desktop because the RAM is only 1GB. When I try to resore iCal from Time Machine the events are gone from the restored version as well.

Time Machine was backing up other external disks as well as my startup disk.
Both my startupdisk and the external disks that are still working appear on Time Machine GUI (but I "call" TM when I have the FINDER opened). The one that's missing if the one that doesn't show up in Finder (it looks like Time Machine only aknowledges the disks that are available now and not also the ones that were available a couple of days ago but that are now disconnected).

issue. Please take a look at the vi attached. Could somebody please explain to
me why the numeric indicator shows only the very first value and then seems
like has been stacked unless the pump boolean turns on? I know that the event structure waits for an event to
occur but i thought that the event case created for the pump boolean has to do with events related to the specific boolean. I can't understand why the the numeric value is updated when I change the value of the pump boolean. Please take
into consideration that I need to modify a preexisting and really complicated
vi and I don’t want to make crucial modifications (e.g move an input inside an
event case in event structure etc.) and also that I am using LabVIEW 8.6.1.
