I have a computer that has bluescreened twice without anything happening. Both times it is reported that no one is using the laptop. It's just sitting there not doing anything. I looked at the Event Viewer and there are Kernal-Power events, and then Kernal-Processor-Power
events. The most recent gave me these details:

I'm trying to assess why these blue screens are occurring so I can do some preventative work on it. Be it replacing the computer or the RAM, this issue is slowing productivity and I need to rectify it before it halts productivity.

We do need the actual log files (called a DMP files) as they contain the only record
of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here

    Hi,
First, for this issue, please open device manager and check updates for power driver first.
Then, we consider that this issue is related to BSOD, please help to upload the minidump file here for our research:
Please upload them to a file sharing service like Onedrive or "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
Link for how to  upload below.

  • Error in event handler method in window

    Hi,
I have created configuration in SEFVISU, to receive the workitem i have created a parameter in event handler method in window
but it is throwing dump The ASSERT condition was violated, if i remove that parameter means application executing properly but i am not able to pass the unique, values please guide me.
    Regards,
    Srini.

    Hello Srini,
are you talking about the default event handler method of the window? if so then you need to ensure that the parameter name defined in the event and passed in name are same. And also its better to go for the parameter type as STRING.
other option would be instead of defining the static parameters in the event handler method, you can get the parameters from the WDEVENT itself by accessing WDEVENT->PARAMETERS table.
    hope this helps.

I don't think you can. (without JNI)

  • The event logging service encountered an error while processing an incoming event published from Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing.

Last night, some of our systems installed updates released on 11/13/2014.
    KB3021674
    KB2901983
    KB3023266
    KB3014029
    KB3022777
    KB3020388
    KB890830
Today, all of the servers running Windows Server 2008 R2 started logging the following error in the Security log over and over:
    Log Name:      Security
    Source:        Microsoft-Windows-Eventlog
    Date:          1/15/2015 11:12:39 AM
    Event ID:      1108

    Description:
The event logging service encountered an error while processing an incoming event published from Microsoft-Windows-Security-Auditing.
Servers running Windows Server 2008 that also installed the updates are not experiencing the problem.  It looks like one of the updates may have introduced this problem with Server 2008 R2.

...Did you for sure confirm that:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/MS15-001
    is the cause?
I did.  I had a VM that was not experiencing the problem.  I took a snapshot and tested the patches one by one.  Installing only KB3023266 immediately caused the issue to occur (after reboot).  A similar process was used to confirm that
    installing KB2675611 resolved the problem.
Note that I found the installation of KB2675611 is usually quick, but it took several hours hours to install on some of our systems.  We had installed this patch a few months ago on a couple of servers and it was always quick to install.  But,
it seems like installing it on a symptomatic system can cause it to take a long time.

  • Recommendations for low power Windows Labview controller

I build a lot of battery powered Labview systems.  The lowest power Windows controllers I've been able to find are the Intel Atom based units (e.g. iGoLogic iBox510 at about 3-5 Watts).  I'd love to find something in the 1 Watt or less range.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I'd be willing to consider non-windows solutions if they had really low power consumption.
    Thanks - Gene

Yes, that is correct that the modules need to be plugged into a chassis or controller.  I'll take a look into our controllers and see if any of them meet those power constraints.

  • Mouse Events "Falling Through" During Window Activation

I'm implementing a "tool pallette" in my application (much like tools in an application like Photoshop) and I want the user to be able to immediately click on options on this pallete without having to make the window active. Since Swing doesn't have an explicit "Pallete" window that would give this to me for free, I'm assuming I need to subclass JDialog to make this happen.
Even if window activation still must happen, it's crucial that the user only needs to click once to press the button on an inactive window.
I know I can detect WindowEvents like WINDOW_ACTIVATED by simply adding my own window listener, but I don't know how I'd go about having mouse events "fall through" the window listeners and cause the appropriate action on the underlying component. It's almost as if I need to tell the window itself to listen for nothing.
I thought glass planes may be the answer, but that doesn't seem to be what's preventing the intial click in an inactive window from falling through to the underlying component.
Any thoughts, comments, or experiences regarding this are greatly appreciated!

The solution to this problem was posted in the Swing forum. Turns out to be a simple difference of JWindow and JDialog, but a difference I wasn't seeing under all L&Fs (i.e., Windows L&F handles JDialog properly, MacOSX (Aqua) L&F seems to treat it like any other window... I've filed a bug with them).

  • Kernal power Event 41

I have an MSI P55-ga55/Intel i5 760/4GB 1333mhz ram all at stock and running on a Corsair 550VX PSU but twice I've had this issue where the pc just reboots itself. It happened once exactly two weeks ago and again today. Both times I was running mozilla firefox and just surfing the web. I can gurentee it's not a heat or overclock issue ( i dont oc) since my cpu and gpu are below 40 most of the time. Btw i run windows 7 x64.
Any help will be nice =)

Have you entered you MB model wrong? I think it should be P55A-G55 as there is no P55-GA55 that I know of.
It must have been set to run at XMP profile and providing there's no defect with the RAM it should be fine at 1333 and if still a bit of trouble leave at 1333 and set Command Rate (CR) to 2T instead of 1T. It's possible you may need to bump voltage to 1.55 maybe but give it a try at 1333 1.5V 1st.
As can be seen in your CPU-Z shots it should have been at 2T for XMP and was at 1T instead.
Yes, it's the Ripjaw series in particular that's been a problem and not a general G.skil problem.

  • BLACK SCREEN on start up with 3 beeps, FREEZES when power unplugged, IF IT BOOTS splash screen freezes, OVERHEATING REQUIRED TO BOOT - 0x7B, Event 41 kernel-power

Issue: One day I unplug the power, the screen freezes and I get frozen music sound. I shut down, start up, I get 3 beeps (1 short 2 long), which indicates a Video failure according to the Thinkpad Laptop beep code list.
How I solve the issue day-to-day: I turn the heat up - I disconnect the battery and hard drive and plug in the power then turn it on. I will wait until the underneath is searing hot with a blanket blocking the fan's flow of air, I mean way hot because any
cooler and it won't start. Plug stuff back in, Hard drive first, Battery second, turn off with power button hold, unplug power, replug power.
I turn it on, no beeps, it goes past the first Lenovo screen, then gives me a prompt because it "didn't shut down properly" and continue regular startup. What happens next is the Windows logo appears,
and just as the animated windows logo starts to move (you see 2 small colored dots on the screen), it freezes. I see this every time, I know naturally that it means that the laptop is still too hot to go past that point, so I shut it down and try again. After
about 5 - 10 tries it will go past the splash screen and into the login area, then it's all fine.
Sometimes when I unplug the power from the back by accident it will freeze. By accident I mean that the connector wiggles it's self out easily. This unplug freezing thing started happening about 1 week before the 3 beep black screen problem started rolling,
    so I'm putting 2 together.
           Errors:
I got a Blue Screen of Death the first time I started it up with the overheating ritual, but I never got it since. It was 0X7B.
I got another Blue Screen of Death about a week ago, but came as it was on already and I had been using it, and said something about disabling Cache or Shadowing in BIOS. I never got it since.
           Event Viewer events found:
    1. Kernel-Power, Summary page.
There are critical events for a few things like Kernel-Power, Event ID 41, Task Category (63). There are 19 of them, each day 1 or 2 of them but mostly 1, so this maybe corresponds to my daily ritual.
"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
    2. Kernel-Processor-Power - Event ID 37, task category (7)
"The speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report."
    3. LMS - HCMI - Event ID 2, Task Category: none
"LMS Service cannot connect to HECI driver".
I came across a very sluggish performing control panel for Nvidia before and after this problem, and I tried installing a newer version, which I had to jump through a few hoops to do, like uninstalling first, not just updating. At first it said that the
driver wasnt for the system, which was wrong. I made it work somehow, but it was still sluggish. I rolled it back to an earlier driver, and now it works fine. No sluggish performance / slight freeze window thing going on.
MSCONFIG.exe, Boot Advanced Options: I have tried twice to change this 1 setting, check box "Number of processors" and change to 2 processors, because I do have 2 processors. I have been able to change
this in the past, but it does not save the setting now, and I believe this option was selected before I started having problems, and settings did not disappear then.
What could this be. The small round BIOS battery? The video card like everyone presumes? (I.E. the entire motherboard replacement), Software? The wiggly power input area? (Not enough power getting in?), Firmware of some sort? The BIOS software being wrong?

  • Help to create a SCOM Alert for same event ID on many Windows 2008 servers

    Hi all,
I 'm a newbie in SCOM and I need to create a alert with information type on 1 event ID on 2 servers. The Event ID is the same on both servers and I don't know which type of monitor I need to create. Can you help me please ?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
First, should the server appear unhealthy if this event appears? If so, it should be a monitor. If not, it should be a rule (that will only give an alert).
Go to Authoring and Rules/Monitors. Set the scope to Windows Server. Create the Rule/Monitor and remove the "Enabled by default". In the event expression, use the parameters - these should be pretty straight forward.
Afterwards, override the rule/monitor for the two servers on which you wish to monitor this event.
This is pretty rough description, let me know if you need it more detailed.

WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped unexpectedly.
    Module Path: C:\Windows\System32\IWMSSvc.dll

There is no quick emergency disconnect from the WiFi.....  if a web site is malicious and locks you to a script..
I have no idea what is happening.  No WiFi lights, No WiFi switch, Software version hidden from the user ..... On my previous Workstation I saw what was happening.
So, any hints from users that resolved this WLAN issue?
