Event browser not playing audio or doing audio playback in scrubbing

Hi - I've made a movie of my problem because it is much easier to see than to type.
basically it appears that a particular event has become somehow corrupted (not sure but that's what it seems like) because no clip in the event will play the audio - even tho audio is there. If I put the clip in a project I can scrub and hear audio, but not in the event viewer

Dude, that worked, I feel like such a newb! I didn't realize there was secondary "form" of reset. I figured the reset on the menu was it. Thanks a bunch! I wonder what happened to cause it to stop audio and video out like that? Microdrive? Does anyone have any insight? I have until September 09 on my Apple Care and want to make sure if there is any underlying problems with the product to have it looked at before the initial service runs out.

Why does my ipod not play audio?

my ipod touch 4th gen 16gb will not play audio unless it has headphones in. it is second hadn but the seller said nothing about this and the ipod is in perfect condition except for this. i have tried putting the headphones in and out and resetting the ipod, neither of these made any difference. when i play a video or a track without headphones in, the volume slider disappears as if there is no audio file. alarms and facetime sound effects etc still play so i dont think the speakers are broken. please help.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

Encore 1.5 projects not playing audio in Encore 2.0

So far, four out of five transcoded projects I created in Encore 1.5 will not play audio in Encore 2.0. I can open the projects up in 1.5 and get audio with video. I close 1.5, start up 2.0 and load the project. Previewing it results in a silent movie. No audio whatsoever.
Other projects have converted fine. I notice that no Audio Conforming goes on for the non-audio projects, while I see Audio Conforming for the lone 3min 30sec project that does have functional video. Am I missing something here?

Okay, stupid me. Not enough disk space on the drive where the project is located. Once I cleared off some space, the Audio Conforming bar went ahead and I have my audio.
By the way, I was looking at the Windows Task Manager, not the Progress panel.
I grumble just a little bit because there is no error message or notification of insufficient disk space. Only a mute Encore.

PROJECT BUG: Playhead skipping back 3/4 beat. Logic not playing audio

Only in one project is Logic not playing audio/the playhead is not moving forward.
The playhead moves back a few ticks when I press spacebar or click play on the transport. It does not continue after this.

My 2nd generation ipod touch will not play audio books

My 2nd generation ipod touch will not play audio books. How do I fix this? I downloaded the books from iTunes on my computer. I loaded them on my ipod. It shows them on my ipod. It will go to the menu where you can choose which book and then actually pulls up the book then acts like it is going to play. Then it just goes back to the list of books. It won't play any of them. It will play music though.
How do I fix this?

Try:

Clean iPhone charging port with clean dry toothbrush. See if fixed. If not, and if there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple. If no coverage, clean again with toothbrush and small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol.

Macbook Pro does not play audio part of video

Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro (early 2013 with OS 10.10.1).
A colleague sent me a video file, which was originally recorded in MTS format. The sound portion of it does not play on my machine, although it generally can handle MTS. I have a colleague with a Windows PC, for him the audio plays ok. I have another colleague with an older MBP, for him the audio also plays ok. But then I have two more colleagues with a newer MBP like me, and for none of us the audio plays at all. The strange thing is that I can open the file in various editors such as Premiere, Audition, or Logic Pro, and they would all show the waveform of the audio, even the VU meters react normally, but there still is no audible sound.
On the machines that play the sound, we have tried converting the video and exporting the audio portion into various other formats, but with the very same result. None of them play sound for me. This is extremely weird and we have no answer what could be the problem.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

thanks for the reply.
As I said, we had tried several editors and players, as well as all kinds of formats, using all kinds of converters, but so far to no avail.
The AAC codec is a common codec for the Mac, so there should be no need to convert it. I have videos with that codec that play ok. It already turned out that converting the video file to other formats does not make any difference.

CD/DVD does not play audio CD,it does play DVD and in rare ocasions it plays the audio CD but mainly if the computer is just turn on,any help will be very usefull,THANKS in advance it's a PowerBook G4

Problem with CD/DVD doesn't play audio CD but it does play DVD, and today it play audio CD but after ejected it did not play it again and ejected automatic.

Sounds to me like there is a problem with the optical drive. I would recommend replacing it.
Have you tried to cleaning it?

Quicktime does not play audio

I've found that since upgrading to Lion, that some .mov files do not play the audio soundtrack when you play them in Quicktime 10.1.
Audio is fine in Quicktime Player 7

Some third party software can change the default settings in the Audio MIDI setup.
Open the app (found in your Utilities folder) and change the audio output settings to 44100Hz and try the file again.

ITunes 7.1.1.5 will not play audio from inserted cd

I have been experiencing an issue with iTunes on my PC. It will not play any audio from inserted discs. This includes burned discs and commercial discs. When I attempt to play the music the song will stay highlighted briefly, about 2 sec., and then it goes directly to the next song on the disc. This continues through the disc to the end. I experience the same issue when trying to import the disc.
I have tried removing the iTunes application and doing a fresh re-install, but I have the same issue.
Also, this is on a PC, and I am able to open the disc's in question and play the content fine within Media Player.
Any idea's on this would be greatly appreciated!

10.1.3 crashing and not playing audio

I updated to 10.1.3 on my new 6 core mac pro. now having problems. I can't play anything in my preview window. I hit play, the k,j,l keys and still get nothing. I can scrub through the clip in the bin, but it won't play audio or video. I have to drag the clip to the timeline then edit or play from there.
when I try to switch clip views from list to filmstrip view FCP crashes.
I can't edit or view clips. What is going on?

A decision was taken to remove that functionality, a new desktop tool to build reports is not far off ... I know, I know but what about now !
with 10.1.3.2 you can build the extract portion of the report in your browser, then using the BI Publisher > Login on the new Word plugin you can log in to the server, find your report, create a new template, test it and then upload it back to the server from word avoiding the web interface entirely.
This should be in the help for th new builder?

Safari will not play audio.

Safari stopped playing audio for me on my MacBook Air. The audio on the computer works because i can get audio with full volume when i play a file on iTunes. Please help me with what might be wrong.

Videos in keynote for ios do not play audio...

I have two quicktime videos that I want to play in a keynote presentation. The videos and their audio play perfectly out of my Photos folder on the iPad but when I insert them in a Keynote presentation, the video is great but the audio does not play. Help! I am using Keynote for ios. Would it help if I created the presentation on my mac and then sent it to the iPad?

FOUND THE SOLUTION:
I had this same problem and this resolved it for me:
-Go to your "Settings" icon and click on the "General" tab.
-About 2/3 way down the page you will see "Use side switch to:" - make sure "mute" is checked rather than "lock rotation."
-Then make sure the side switch, located next to the volume toggle switch on the side of your ipad, is moved to the right (no red dot showing).
My audio worked fine in embedded videos after I did those two things. Hope it works for you.
