Event date incorrect after import

I just imported about 30 minutes of recorded video from a miniDVD from my Sony Handycam Camcorder DVD-405.
Since there were two "events" in that one miniDVD, I imported all of it as a single event, and then took some of the clips and selected "split event before selected clip" and selected split.
I am not sure if it is related to the splitting or not, but the metadata on the newly created records are showing up as under Ocober 12.
I tried to undo split once or twice, but the data remains the same!

I have a DVD405 and a new 20" imac as well. Any problems importing w/ imovie 08? Any update on the time/date thing? did you ever import to a PC? Picture package sucked b/c it wouldn't import time and date at all, and I had to manually rename and categorize each movie. Also, I'm going to be importing all my other movies off my old hard drive and am curious whether or not they'll enter imovie w/ the original time and date. Any input/experience greatly appreciated.
Hello Bogrumpus,
No problems with import at all. iMovie 08 in fact is awesome because it lets you do it directly from the camera, which I was unable to do for whatever reason in iMovie 06. I simply finalize the disc, connect the USB connector to the computer with iMovie open and play the disc on the camcorder. iMovie recognizes it and opens up the various clips, allowing me to pick and choose which ones I would like to import and as simple as that, it imports the clips into iMovie.
As to my problem with time/date, there has been no updates unfortunately. But this one is bizarre how it happened. Maybe I will try importing it in a different mac and see if there is any difference. The camcorder shows the correct date/time and I have imported a lot of stuff from the camcorder and it has had no issues with the date/time. In my case, I simply split an existing event into two and coincidentally or not, the date of the second event is timestamped to be the same as the last date of the first event. Not sure if it is a bug or not, but that's the way it is.
As for importing from hard drive, I have not tried it or know if it is possible to do it. For all my old stuff, I simply popped the miniDVD into the camcorder and re-imported it to iMovie. Worked like a charm (well, except for one of the older miniDVD which was corrupted ).
From what I have read elsewhere on the discussion forums, you should be able to make DVD images of the old videos which can be mounted and be read as if a disc was inserted into the drive, and the end result would be what you are looking for - being able to import the videos directly into iMovie. I am not sure what happens to the date/time on those clips though
Glad to be of help!

  • IPhoto events view broken after import, images missing

I'm running the latest iPhoto on a 10.8.2 Retina MacBook Pro and experience some strange import problems since the end of last month.
My library holds more then 26.000 images right now and whenever I try to import some new images by dragging them from Finder to the iPhoto library the images (and videos) get imported... but when I try to view the event afterwards it doesn't open and the scrolling of the complete events view is broken. The scrollbar moves but thumbnails of events don't! I'm not able to use the events view anymore after a try to open such broken event.
When I use the regular photos view (the 2nd item in the left menu) I can see and use these new images... until I quit and restart iPhoto. Afterwards many images are missing – see http://cl.ly/JrjF for an example. I can delete those broken events... but not empty the trash afterwards. It just hangs while purging all entries.
    Has anyone experienced this already?
I'm importing iPhone images uploaded to the DropBox "Camera Uploads" folder. But I can't believe it has to do with anything related to this.
I've also disabled the Photostream feature (not the shared ones) in iPhoto because I got tired of splitted events due to Photostream missing some images now and then. Maybe it has to do with that disabled feature. I'll try to reenable it after restoring my 5 days old backup (120GB) a second time now.
Thanks for your help... let's hope I can solve this.

This sounds like a damaged database.
    Try this test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
If it's not then back to your main Library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Winmail.dat attachments after importing PST into online archive

Hi, we enabled the online archive feature on one of our Office365 exchange account. Later, we used the PST capture tool to import a PST file into the archive. Now after importing, the user came back saying he sees winmail.dat files as attachments. Prior
to uploading the PST to the online archive the attachments were visible normally. The PST file belongs to the same user. Its an old PST file attached to his mailbox since a long time. We then subscribed to the online archive plan for his account and used the
PST capture tool for importing the emails. To isolate the cause of the issue we tried dragging an email with an attachment from themailbox to the online archive from within Outlook. The moved email appeared correctly with attachment in his archive. We have
not tried importing the whole PST from within outlook, as the size of the PST is too large (32 GB). Could someone please help resolve the issue.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Time and/or Date incorrect after moving/copying/importing

This has been going on for years and has messed up hundreds, maybe more, of the time/date on my photos in Aperture.
If I select my entire photo library (typically preset to 'Date - Ascending') in Aperture, I can find hundreds of photos out of order. When I look at them in 'Info', the time and sometimes date has changed by several hours. I'm not sure if this is an Aperture thing or Mac thing? Over the years I have moved and/or copied photos from smaller HDDs to larger HDDs to eventually a NAS unit and/or from iPhoto to Aperture.
I have made calls to Tech Support, but they have always made me feel as if I made some mistake on my end or I didn't set the time correctly to begin with (now this could be correct with the P&S I share with my girlfriend, but very rarely with my DSLR). But I also explained that it was random (3 to 5 photos in a set).
So today as I was trying to update some of my photos, I came across some photos (and videos) I took last year with my iPhone (my iPhone always has the correct time and date or 99.9%). I originally uploaded these to an old iPhoto library I still have (all the dates and times are correct). These same photos and videos (55 over a 3 day period) were moved to my Aperture library some time ago and 3 of the 55 have the incorrect time by -7 hours (ie. 3:30 pm is now 8:30 am).
Why does this happen?? I have not set any time changes to these photos. If I did, they would all have the wrong time and not just 3 of them would be off.
Is anyone having this issue and if so, was there a way to get the corrcet time/date from the photo hidden deep down in the EXIF? This is driving me crazy.
Here are some screen shots of the same photo in iPhoto and Aperture.
    iPhoto 5:28:09 PM - Correct
    Aperture 10:28:09 AM - Incorrect -7 hrs
TIA if anyone can help. I just don't have the time to go back and try and change all these photos.
    Narvon

    DF
Thanks for the reply, I will try to post the screenshots again (they still show for me, odd?).
Anyway, this is not a zoning problem. This is a moving or copying problem.
The photos I tried to show from the screen shot I took last year at a concert in Coachella (same time zone as my residence in Redondo Beach). The shots were taken using my iPhone which has GPS and constant updating of Time. All the photos and videos show up correctly in Places (GPS) and all the correct times show in iPhoto.
The issue occurs when the photos are moved to Aperture. Randomly the time has changed to -7 hours on a few photos. This same randomness has occured to hundreds of my photos that I have imported into Aperture over the years. As I said before, Tech Support and everyone else has placed the blame on me within my camera settings or improper importing.
Now that I use my iPhone more often, I have proof that the settings are correct and that Aperture or Finder or ?? within Apple has changed the Time randomly. Also, if I had 'Accidently' opened the 'Time Zone' brick when importing (as suggested by Tech Support), all the photos would have the incorrect time and not just a few random ones.
iPhoto original from iPhone - Time 5:28:09 correct
Aperture photo from iPhoto - Time 10:28:09 incorrect -7 Hrs
    Thanks again,
    Narvon

  • Incorrect date year after import

I like to organize my photos by date. When I import my photos through lightroom 5, I specify in the metadata to organize by date, (in which it is listed correctly) and choose the destination folder. However, once I perform the import, it creates a completely separate folder under the year "2012". How can I fix this problem to import under the correct file dates?

How have you set the Destination options in Import? A screen capture of it would help.

  • Subfolder Dates Incorrect When Importing Photos from Nikon D3000

    Bit of a weird problem:
When I use the Get Photos dialog to import the RAW files from my camera, and ask it to create subfolders based on the shot date, the subfolder dates wind up all over the place.  I did a set last night that had folder years that ranged from 1913 to 2027.  At first I thought it might be somehow confusing time information (ie. 19:13) for the year, but that doesn't seem to be the case after a few more tries.  It seems to be basically random.
I didn't have this problem on a PC with an earlier version of Elements, but I've recently installed 10 on a new MacBook Pro, so I'm not sure if it's a software issue, a hardware issue, both, or neither.  The camera itself is set to the correct time, and the same goes for the computer.  I've even tried adjusting the date display formats on both to be the same, but that doesn't seem to have made a difference.  Just wondering if anyone else has seen this problem or if anyone has suggestions on how to fix it.  If it comes down to it, I can just not use subfolders, since most of my organizational work gets done in the organizer anyway, but it'd be nice if I didn't have to worry about it.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi there,
Thanks for the response.  Playing with the date/time format on the camera doesn't make a difference.  Nor does changing the way the MacBook keps track of date/time information.  Tried both those things and wound up with the same result as before (ie. seemingly randomized folder dates).  In the PE organizer, the date view looks fine and everything comes out organized properly.  It's just purely the folders themselves that appear to have the problem.
It does seem as though the problem lies somewhere in the actual interaction between camera and computer (since it's really only in the Finder view that this is a problem).  At present I've just stopped asking Elements to create subfolders since the bulk of my organizational stuff is done through tags and albums applied in the organizer anyway.  So it's not a big deal.  Just odd.

  • Date mask after import

    Hi,
After export -> import from one workspace to another in the same database (different schema) the date display is not correct on most pages in the application. In the old workspace the appears as '26-OCT-2009' and on the new it is '26-OCT-0009'.
The data when viewed in sql editor is fine. I can correct the format field but field but am looking for a global solution and explanation why it is changing in the first place?
    Thanks
    Scott

Go to Shared Components->Definition->Globalization (Tab) and set Application Date Format DD/MON/YYYY
after this please set in every Data items "Display As" (Use application format mask)

  • Imported Movies Not Showing In Events In iMovie After Import

Might be a simple question, but nevertheless, the issue has me pulling my hair out. Hopefully I will find some help here...
Recently purchased an El Gato Eye TV HD. Works great and allows export of HD video recorded from TV and such, very nice. I have exported video from it using HD 720P format and then import it into iMovie with no problems....sometimes. Sometimes after iMovie completes the import, when I select the Event it says that there is no such video and to select another event. Any thoughts on this? I use the same process every time but more often than not the import "doesn't take," as it were. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the tips, but none of these items is the issue. I am using an external 300GB connected via FW 800. The drive has maybe 20GB of stuff on it, so that is not an issue. I can't figure the issue out, because I did a little test. I took some video I captured using the El Gato device, exported as HD 720P. Using iMovie on the Mac Mini, iMovie won't see it on the Mac Mini. I took the same exported version as above and put it on my MBP (2.16GHz, 3GB RAM). Imported it into iMovie in the same procedure as I did on the Mini. Except this time on the laptop, iMovie sees it. Something somewhere on th eMini isn't working right. I have tried repairing disc permissions without luck, so I guess I am down to wiping and reinstalling all my software on the Mini. Hopefully that will work. Any thoughts?

  • Imported Events greyed out after import

Converted a CD with Handbrake to mpeg-4 without problem. Imported into iMovie and initially able to view Event clips and active frame window. Then, for reasons unclearn, all Events are greyed out, altho active frame window is displayed and will "play". Anyone know what happened? First time user of iMovie so may be missing a critical step?
    Thanks for any guidance. Hvee

  • Dates incorrect when importing from Eudora

When importing mailboxes from Eudora, it seems that the emails I have received all have their dates correct in Mail, but all the emails that I sent have their dates set to the date the import was done. Is there any way to avoid this?

  • Imovie 11 lost data code after import from iMovie hd

    Hello,
i digitized my whole miniDV-cassettes with iMovie HD.
When i import these clips with iMovie 11, there is no
datacode! How do i "recover" the original datacode?
    Thanks!

    I found a solution:
DVinfo is the program i need (avlb. in Mac AppStore).
FootTracker is for professionals and expensive.

  • How do you edit the event title after importing?

I still have not figured this one out. It's not double click, not control click, not command click, not the "info" or "edit" buttons. What is it?
I am also frustrated with merging and splitting events after import. I am now doing all that in the finder before I import. What a pain! Any tips?

    I don't like iPhoto '11 either.
    1. I can't change the name of the multiple events in the import window as it was possible in earier versions of iPhoto.
    2. It is not possible to merge events anymore in the import window.
    3. When I get back to the Events view directly after importing new pictures, the most recently added events do not show up.
    4. Worse, multiple earlier events seem to have disappeared all together.
    5. When quitting iPhoto, I get the message 'updating library'. After restarting iPhoto, the recently added events do show up without a name but just with a date. Then I can rename and merge these events. The events that had disappeared do show up again.
All together, this feels like a very crappy and cumbersome upgrade...
How do I get the correct functionality back, apart from downgrading to an earlier version of iPhoto?

  • When importing DV, Event dates jumbled and incorrect. How to correct dates?

When I import DV tapes into iM 08 the date that I imported them was correct and putting them in order under the year 2007. Then at about my 16th tape the Event went under the year 2016 then the next one 2019 then the next one 2002????? How can I reset the dates to put the imports back into the right order with the right dates?
One more question: I accidently added an imported DV to an existing event. Is there anyway to seperate them into seperate events as they should have been?
    Thanks

This thread discusses several solutions, or you can follow the link to Karsten's webpage, which summarizes them.
    To split an Event:
In the Event that you want to divide, click the clip that you want to become the first clip of the new Event.
Choose File > “Split Event Before Selected Clip.”

  • After import, image from camera replaced with old (and incorrect) image

i imported photos this morning.  maybe 200.  into Lightroom 5.6 (with
camera raw 8.6, running on macosx 10.9.5; see below for "system info").  the images came from my
Leica M Typ 240, and were in raw format.  after importing the images, i
went through them in my first editing pass.
going through, image 1867 ("L1001867.DNG") in LR was *not* the same as
image 1867 on my camera, but was, rather, an image (no longer on the
card in my camera) from 8 months ago in China.
the image on the camera was from 07.10.2014 15:49.15 (following one
taken at 15:49:07, which *did* show up in LR).  the *meta* data in LR
appears correct for the image from the camera (i.e, shows a date of
07.10.2014, has likely exposure information, etc.), but the image itself
    is the wrong image.
the image in LR *may* have been one i deleted (in LR), though i don't
know that for sure.  if i *did* delete it, i deleted it months ago.
the LR image was shot on 22.02.2014 at 02:51-02:52 (i typically don't
change the clock).  while i don't know for sure the image number of the
image in LR, it *appears* to be image 1419.
obviously, this is fairly worrying (as i count of LR to keep my
inventory!).  what can i do to help you troubleshoot this?  what can you

it appears the actual image is probably in place, but the *preview* is incorrect.  clicking on the image to zoom in causes (the normal) "Loading...", followed by a zoomed in view of the *correct* image.  zooming back out gives the normal view of the correct image.  (*very* good to know!)

  • Incorrect Event Dates

Some (not all) of the iMovie event dates for movies stored iPhoto are incorrect. I have checked the date on the original files and in iMovie and those are correct, but the date on the iMovie event is not correct. I have some dated Dec 31 1903 and one dated Feb 6 2040.
Does anybody have any idea why this is happening, and more importantly, how to fix it (or just manually correct the event dates)?
I am using iMovie ver 7.1.2

I am seeing the same situation, but no one seems to have a good answer why it happens, and what to do to not let it happen again.
Hopefully apple is reading these forums and incorporating such feedback for upcoming releases. We can only hope
