Everything I find online is talking about windows server backup and checking the logs.  My backups all complete successfully just getting this error message.  Any thoughts?

Next I check Shadow Copies details from volume properties (right click on C or other drive then select properties then click on Shadow Copies Tab) and found it is showing the same error code..
From this error it is clear that the issue is inside the registry hive and due to junk hive shadow copies services not able to working properly.
For me the server have two disk we check disk signature at MBR and found the disk signature was.
    Signature disk 0 : 9351912b
    Signature disk 0 : FDFBE035
But at registry we found lot of nonexistance signature. Which indicate lot of junk valu inside registry.
Now how can we resolve this issue?
It is very simple just delete the registry key “volume” (registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\STORAGE\Volume”) and reboot the server it will “Volume” registry hive automatically.
    Note:
When you remove registry key it is showing error unable to delete, then please right click on it select permission then take ownership and assign full permission to your login account.
Please be careful when you delete registry key because system can fully crashed if you delete or modify wrong registry key.
Your can take a backup of the registry key by exporting.

  • Moving past "unknown error" in backup

Been using Windows Server Essentials 2012 for about a year as a server in my home.  Everything has worked well, until recently.
One of the computers consistently fails backup. The error message, "an unknown error prevented backup from completing successfully" is less an helpful.  The computer runs Windows 8.1 and has no problem with access to server folders.
It is not going to sleep during the attempted backup sessions.  I have run error checking on drive.  No errors found.
    Suggestions, please.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
On current situation, would you please let me confirm something more?
    1.
    à
The error message, "an unknown error prevented backup from completing successfully" is less a helpful.
Did you mean that open LAUNCHPAD, click Backup option, and then this error message occurred when click Start
backup button in Backup Properties panel?
    2. Please logon the server and open Dashboard, select DEVICES tab. Then check Status of this client computer which failed to backup.
    3. Please run
vssadmin list writers via Command Prompt and check if find errors.
    4. In the problematic client computer, please follow the path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Logs, then check BackupLaunchpad log file if find some relevant clues.
(Please Note: the folder is hidden. Please open Control Panel, select Folder Options, select View tab and check ‘Show hidden files, folders and drives’. Then please check.) Meanwhile, please open Event Viewer and check if some relevant events
were logged. Those may help us to go further analyze.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.

  • While Installation of 11g database creation time error ORA-28056: Writing audit records to Windows Event Log failed Error

    Hi Friends,
    OS = Windows XP 3
    Database = Oracle 11g R2 32 bit
    Processor= intel p4 2.86 Ghz
    Ram = 2 gb
    Virtual memory = 4gb
I was able to install the oracle 11g successfully, but during installation at the time of database creation I got the following error many times and I ignored it many times... but at 55% finally My installation was hanged nothing was happening after it.....
ORA-28056: Writing audit records to Windows Event Log failed Error  and at 55% my Installation got hung,,,, I end the installation and tried to create the database afterward by DBCA but same thing happened....
Please some one help me out, as i need to install on the same machine .....
    Thanks and Regards

Thanks Now I am able to Create a database , but with one error,
When I created a database using DBCA, at the last stage I got this error,
    Database Configuration Assistant : Warning
Enterprise Manager Configuration Failed due to the Following error Listener is not up or database service is not registered with it.  Start the listener & Registered database service & run EM Configuration Assistant again....
But when I checked the listener was up.....
Now what was the problem,  I am able to connect and work through sqlplus,
But  I didnt got the link of EM and when try to create a new connection in sql developer it is giving error ( Status : failure - Test Failed the Network Adapter could not establish the connection )
    Thanks & Regards
Creation of the dbcontrol requires a connection via the listener.  When configuring the dbcontrol as part of database creation, it appears that the dbcontrol creation step runs before the dynamic registration of the databsase with the listener is complete.  Now that the database itself is completed and enough time (really, just a minute or two) has passed to allow the instance to register, use dbca or emca to create the dbcontrol.
Are you able to get a sqlplus connection via the listener (sqlplus scott/tiger@orcl)?  That needs to be the first order of business.

  • Server 2008 R2 Windows Server Backup. "Error in backup of Hyper-V.vhd during read: Error [0x80070001] Incorrect function.

    Hello,
We are currently using Windows Server Backup to backup three Hyper-V guests running on a Windows 2008 R2 host.  Two guests are running Server 2008 R2 and one is running Windows 7.  I have the backups going to a dedicated external disk drive.
WSB backs up the two 2008 R2 Hyper-V guests just fine.  However, when attempting to backup the Windows 7 Hyper-V guest, I receive the following error:
Error in backup of <Windows 7.vhd> during read: Error [0x80070001] Incorrect function.
I ran a "vssadmin list writers" and all the VSS writers showed "Stable" with no errors.  I have plenty of space on the external drive as well.  I've read this article:
https://support.microsoft.com/kb/973455?wa=wsignin1.0#workaroundissue12 except that doesn't seem to be what I'm experiencing here.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
As the other 2 guests could be backed up correctly, the issue should not be the Windows Server Backup feature.
First please refer to this article:
Backing Up and Restoring Virtual Machines
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd405549(v=vs.85).aspx
Please check if all following requirements are met. Specifically please check if Integration Service is installed.
Backup (volume snapshot) Integration Service is installed and running in the child VM. The service name is "Hyper-V Volume Shadow Copy Requestor".
Windows 2000:  Backup Integration Service is not supported.
The child VM must be in the running state.
The Snapshot File Location for the VM is set to be the same volume in the host operating system as the VHD files for the VM.
All volumes in the child VM are basic disks and there are no dynamic disks.
All disks in the child VM must use a file system that supports snapshots (for example, NTFS).

  • Time Machine Error - The backup is too large for the backup disk

I have been using Lion (currently 10.7.1) on my MacBook Pro (13" - early 2011) since it was released.  I haven't had any serious problems with it.
All of a sudden, I am getting an error in Time Machine.  When it tries to run a backup, the error "This backup is too large for the backup disk.  The backup requires 7.51 GB but only 630.1 GB are available."  What gives?  That's plenty of room.  I have installed Logic Studio and a few plug-ins, so the 7.51 GB is probably right.  The free space is correct as well.  I can't understand what the problem is.
The backup disk is an external USB 2.0 drive with no other Time Machine backups on it or any other files.  The folder "Backups.backupdb" is the only thing on the root of the disk.
I am reluctant to reset the Time Machine and lose all of the backups, but I will if anyone recommends it.

    Hi Linc,
It is not working at the moment, as I have restored the original Lion image again; it has all my work and apps on it.
Many thanks for the info on the log, though.  It tells a strange story.  Here's the log from the last backup that worked to the first one that failed: --

I don't understand.  For starters, I think it's a little wasteful that 3.5 GB has been used to back up 601 KB.  That's the difference in free space on the backup volume between the two backups.  That can't be normal, surely.
The only error is that mds[32] error, and from what I've read on forums, that seems to appear on backups that work perfectly.
Too weird.  It looks like I'll have to reinstall Lion and all my applications again to get Time Machine working, or find another backup solution.

  • Error creating backup file

    Hi,
I'm running adobe digital editions on a Mac OS X 10.6.3 and I keep getting this error message whenever I open adobe digital editions.
Error creating backup file: /Users/yongrufui/Documents/Digital Editions/backup_manifest.xml
    Error detail: Error #2038
This message also appears when I go to Library view. And I can't load my new ebook either.
    Please help!

I wish I had an answer, but I have the same problem.  My error is: Error Creating Backup File  c:windows\personal\MyDigital Editions\Backup_Manifest.xml
    Error Detail: Error #2038
I've reported this to Adobe and someone is trying to resolve, but its been over 4 days now.  All of the suggestions provided so far haven't fix it.
I get this error upon Launching ADE.  Always comes up on Launch, but I can move on by clicking OK.  However, all that does is remove the error message. Still cannot download books from library.

    Hi,
This issue may be caused by corrupted files or application conflicts. I recommend you to run "sfc /scannow" at the command prompt to check the system files. In addition, you can perform a clean boot to see if any service is causing the issue.
If the above cannot solve it, maybe you can find if there is any hotfix for the application or uninstall the application.
    Best regards,
    Susie

You will also need to check and verify that the following folders have been removed:
    C:\Program Files\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files\iTunes
    C:\Program Files\iPod
    C:\Program Files\QuickTime
    C:\Windows\System32\QuickTime
    C:\Windows\System32\QuickTimeVR
dont forget to remove icloud alsoyou dont need to delete your itune music library though If any of these folders still exist, delete them along with their contents. (if you cant delete them, right click and go to properties and then security and change the control of the fold to you)do this for files under  program files and program file (x86) on your computer once you have deleted everything, restart your computer. Then I repaired my registry using a registry repair program. Important:-  instead of installing itunes I installed quick time, which installs apple application support (this is the corrupt file which is causing all the issues) i then installed itunes and it all worked fine, should take no longer than half hour to fix hope this helps

  • Windows 127 Error...???

I know there are a lot of topics on this, but I have tried a few things and nothing works.  First I could not update to the newest version of itunes.  By the updater nor manually.  Tried repairing that did not work, then I tired uninstalling, but it wouldn't let me saying it wasn't install properly.  I did some disk clean up and so forth then it installed magically!  However, now itunes wont run...I get the entry point can't be located and then I get the please reinstall itunes message with Error 7 (Windows 127).  I am lost and can't even unistall the program due to it not even showing up on the control panel.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thank you so much, this is a headache.

Update your .netframe work to version 4 (see other help posts by apple support)

I believe that RMAN literally cannot either 1) find the file or 2) access the file due to permissions on the backup file piece or the RMAN directory above it.
