Event ID 6482

Morning,
I have a client whom is having a very tough time with Search. We've been unable to get it working properly in their environment. Unfortunately, we didn't get the opportunity to setup the server; therefore, it could be an environment issue. Basically, we
are seeing the an error every minute with the ID of 6428. Everyone mentioned that clearing out the configuration cache should resolve the issue; however, it has not in our case.
The environment consist of a single-server farm. They are running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with SharePoint 2013 SP1 (Build version 15.0.4569.1000) and SQL Server 2012.
We've rebuilt the Search application about 5 times with the same result each time. The application will work fine but it seems like the topology is messed up each time. For instance, we are unable to view the active topology via the GUI because the Admin
component is not working properly. We feel that this is being causing a an environment error but we are unable to determine the root cause. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can you provide more information to help troubleshoot.
Can you provide the error message text - just the upper portion not the XML.
Also, can you provide the text of error messages occuring in the ULS logs that seem related and that occurred at about the same time as the 6428 error that you see.
Lastly, can you present an image of what you see when you view the Search Application Topology.

My search service shows this message
My search service shows this message:  'The search application 'Search Service Name' on server SERVERNAME is not provisioned. Confirm that the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Timer service and Central Administration service are running on the server'.
No changes can be made.  I am able to run search queries.
Every minute the Application Server Administration job tries and fails to provision the service and logs the event id 6482: Search not provisioned:  There is no project Portal_Content mounted under gatherer application <guid>
I've found a few posts online that have solved this by clearing the sharepoint cache, which I've done a number of times without success.  A few others re-created search which isn't a real good solution for me since we have a lot of customizations that
    would have to be redone.
Restoring from Central Admin backups is a possibility, but without knowing exactly what the problem is, it seems that this approach may cause further problems.
Thoughts anyone?  Here's the full event log message

    Hi,
For your issue, try to do the following:
Go to Services, and then reset SharePoint server search  accounts (stop/start).
Reset the crawl index (clears the index).
Stop and then start the SharePoint Server Search  - Central Administration: stop and then restart the service.
    Reset default content access account.

    Appreciate your help!
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Did you change password for the search service account or any managed accounts?
I recommend to follow this link to check the managed accounts to see if the issue still occurs.
    http://sharepoint-community.net/profiles/blogs/error-when-attempting-to-access-configure-service-accounts
Please also re-create the Search Service Application and then compare the results.

  • Sharepoint 2013 search broken after upgrade from 2013 foundation to 2013 ent.

    Hello
I have tried many of the suggestions that I have found in the forums for this issue but non have worked as of yet.
I have sharepoint 2013  sp1 running on server 2012 R2 connected to SQL 2012 DB, which was upgrade from SharePoint foundation 2013. Everything is working with the exception of the search. the errors are below.

For some reason this is using the farm account which is not the account used for the search service but has full access to the sites and databases. So I'm not sure what or where it is getting an access denied error. Is there any way to find what it is trying
to access? BTW I have disabled the loopback check, verified it has correct access to %windir%\tasks and recreated the search service many times, changed application pool accounts

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you encountered the error Application Server Administration job failed for service instance Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchServiceInstance
after you upgraded SharePoint 2013 Foundation to SharePoint Server 2013.
For troubleshooting your issue, please try adding the farm account  on the Server local administrator group and see if it is related to permission issue. Then try stopping the Timer Service, clearing
the Configuration Cache and restarting the Timer Service:

i have created search service application using power shell and also using central administration but both times i am getting following error message when access search service application.

    Hi Imughal,
This issue can be caused by many reasons, please check ULS log for detailed error message.
If the issue is caused by Event ID: 6482 error “A call to SSPI failed, see inner exception”, then
it can be caused by the following reasons:
The timer service account is trying to communicate with HostController service  and generates 'SSPI  Connect' call demanding SPN to be created for target services Identity, if no SPN is found.
The Hostcontroller service's NodeRunner process is limited to use restricted amount of RAM.
Then please follow the steps in the link below for solving this issue:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bkr_sharepoint/archive/2014/06/09/sharepoint-2013-search-topology-activation-error-quot-unable-to-retrieve-topology-component-health-states-this-may-be-because-of-the-admin-component-is-not-up-and-running-quot.aspx

    Hi Baskaran,
For this issue, I think the main reason may be the original account is removed or changed from AD.
In the following there is an article about this to reset the service account, you can refer to it for more information:
    http://edinkapic.blogspot.com/2009/10/moss-shared-services-provider.html
Additionally, as you already tried to reset the service accounts, you could try to clear SharePoint configuration caches in case the caches were not updated, to clear SharePoint configuration caches, you can see the below article:

    Hi Henrik,
According to the error you encountered, please check if you enable usage data collection. If not, please enable it, then Restart IIS and SharePoint Timer job and then check if the error disappear. If its enabled already and still these IDs are logged into
event viewer, then disable that first, Restart IIS and SharePoint Timer job, enable them and Restart IIS and SharePoint Timer job again.
To enable the Usage Data Collection navigate Central Administration >> Monitoring >> Configure usage and health data collection >> Under Usage Data Collection check the box>> Under Health Data Collection check the Enable health data
    collection box.

  • How can I see Calendar event END times at a glance?

How can I display my Calendar event titles exactly as I type them? I do not want Calendar to remove duration from the titles of my events. Otherwise I can't see event END times at a glance in month view; only start times. How can I "trick" Calendar to just show my titles as I type them - as I always could before I upgraded. I used to be able to enter "Seminar 9am-5:45" and it would appear that way regardless of how or what I chose to enter (or not enter) for duration.
    I am running OSX 10.9.3.

It's a bit weird, but if you type in the time info TWICE into the event title then Calendar uses/deletes one of them to populate the event details and leaves the other.

  • Event List view in iCal?

I would love to have an Event List view in iCal like I do on the calendar on my iPhone. Is there such a thing? The particular reason for wanting it (this time) is that one of the calendars in the ON MY MAC list has a number in a oval to the right.
I believe this is trying to tell me that there is a new event that I need to do something about. Problem is, I don't know where to find it.

    ecernek,
There is no event list option on iCal like the one on the iPhone.
That number means that you have an event invitation. Use iCal>View>Show Notifications to choose what to do with the notification.

  • Can I show a color bar instead of a color bullet in iCal Monthly view for all my events in all calendars?

In the Monthly view of iCal the only events that show a color bar in the event is the Birthday Calendar. All other events in all my other calendars only show a color bullet next to the event (unless I click on that event which then shows as a color bar). I would like to know if it is possible for all the calendar events to have a color bar in the monthly view instead of just that tiny color bullet.

    Greetings Judith,
Before making any attempts at deleting calendar data, backup what you have just in case:
Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
iCal has an automated function located in iCal > Preferences > Advanced > Delete events "X" days after they have passed.  By typing in a value for days you can tell iCal to delete all events before that time frame.
    Example:
    Today is 4-16-2012.
If I wanted to delete all events prior to 1 year ago (4-16-2011) I would type in "365" for the number of days.
Once you type in the number of days you want kept in iCal, close the preferences and then quit iCal.
Re-open iCal and check to see if the events are gone.  If not you may want to leave it open for several minutes and then quit again.
Once the events are removed go back to  iCal > Preferences > Advanced > Delete events "X" days after they have passed and make sure the check mark is removed to prevent future deletion.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can you show at a glance which event images are in albums?

Say I had an event containing multiple similar but different images, is there a way to show in the grid view for example which images have already been used in one or more albums?
Would be handy to be able to select a 'show list of albums containing this image'dialogue box. I guess you could hide images you've used but that wouldn't work automatically, nor would any other tagging/rating.
Another approach would be to make albums containing everything in a given event, then move the images out of that album once used, just seems fiddly to me.

Yes it would and many people have suggested tit. Add your voice to the chorus at iPhoto Menu -> Provide Apple Feedback.
A workaround - and it's no better - is to go to an album and select al, then give all those pics a keyword. Then in grid view you can see which pics have the keyword. (View -> Keywords)

  • Unable to capture startup and shutdown event of Photoshop in automation Plugin.

    Hi,
I am creating an automation plugin and I want to register some events. I have seen listener plugin sample to register event in startup and unregister event in shutdown. I have used same code in my plugin but I am unable to capture the startup nad shutdown event of Photoshop. On clicking the menu item of my plugin the calls come inside the AutoPluginMain but during the startup or shutdown of plugin, the calls does not come inside the AutoPluginMain.
I am unable to detect the cause of the problem. Can someone please giude me??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tom,
    Thanks for the suggestion.
Yes, I am working on Windows. As you suggested, I compiled .rc file but the compile option for .r file was disabled. After compiling the .rc file, I again rebuild the complete project and tested my build. But still I was not able to achive the desired result.
Any other thing that I need to do to make it work?
    Thanks
