Event in wrong year

I have imported a bunch of movies and while they all seem to be stored in the correct event year one of them is not. One of my events are located in the 2009 folder and the clips were recorded in 2003. I have always used the same camcorder and also checked to see what date the clips were showing and they are all for 2003. How do I fix this?

I'm encountering the same problem. I will say that for MOST of the videos I wish to move to the correct year, following the suggestions on this board work quite well. Just edit the date & time, and the clips "move" to the appropriate Year category in the Event Library listing. However, there are other clips that stubbornly will not be reclassified. I can change the date & time.. and this shows up appropriately, but will not move out of the 2009 year. Other clips will show up as year 2000 even thought they were recorded in other years. I cannot seem to move them. Dragging and dropping an event to merge them into other events from the appropriate year only exacerbates the problem - moving correctly identified years to 2009. Any ideas?
Thanks,

  • Moving events to different year/months in project pane

I imported some video into iMovie 08 and I'm not sure what I did wrong (might have had wrong destination selected when I imported), but some of the video is in the wrong year and/or month. I don't want to merge any events, I just want them in the same place in the project pane. it was en event done with three tapes. Tape one ended up in January of 2008 and tapes two and three ended up in July 2004 which is where they should be. Any suggestions?

FCPXMaster Mind Larry Jordan lately posted an article, touching your requests:
    http://www.larryjordan.biz/fcp-x-divide-large-libraries/
Esp. read and understand the diff.  about Managed and External Media.
When you did it correctly, a) the 'doubling' doesn't double disk-space (!!) and b) you can erase the material in the 'wrong location, without danger of loss.
For sure, my heroes Mark&Steve offer some excellent advice about Media Management:

I would set a Project to final delivery settings, if you know before-hand, what that will be.
In your case, a 25p project would additionally allow nice slow-mos with 50p source-material...

  • How can organize photos by year?  by putting a folder inside of a folder?  So putting all of the events for one year under one folder so that it keeps them seperate?

Looking for help in organizing my photos.   I would like to organize them so that i can put all of the events for a year into one folder  (i would like to keep multiple events under a folder)?  Help please?!

    Like Larry suggested:
The top folder could be named 2011.  In it could be 12 smart folders each with the following criteria:
Date is in the range"  mm/01/yyyy to mm/31/yyyy.
So the 2011 folder would have 12 month smart albums each with the photos for that particular month.
Or you can use the search by date function at the bottom of the window to search by year, month, week or day.

  • Has anyone else had Library incorrectly group photos in the wrong year?

    Hi All
I have just noticed, after installing iPhoto 06, that the app has sorted over 4,000 of my pics in to a '2006' folder. I like taking photos but not 4,000 in 34 days! Nearly all these photos were taken in 2005 (there are separate folders in my library for 2005, '04, '03 and earlier).
I tried moving the pics in to the correct year folder but that did not work. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Cheers

    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

I have a similar (maybe same) problem. I just got a new iMac and imported 9000 images from my external harddrive. Images had been accessed via my WIndox XP computer.
iPhoto imported images but put several hundred pictures into the wrong "year" folder. 300 pics taken on a 2001 vacation were put into a year 2000 folder (didn't even have a camera in 2000). Some pics taken in 2001 were put into the 2002 folder.
Can I manually take the pictures from the original/modified 2000 folder and move them into the 2001 folder, ... ?
    Anyone?

  • IMovie New Event in Previous Year

I have my library sorted by date. How do I add an event to a year other than today's date? I want to organize my events in the library, but iMovie seems to have it's own idea how to sort my events. It's a mess!

Choose import (the large arrow pointin9 downwards in the menubar of the iMovie window). From the pop-up window that appears choose Facetime (Left column at the top "Camera's")

  • In iPhoto, can I file individual events from one year into one main event withouthout m muddling them up?ing them up

In iPhoto, can I file individual events from one year into one main event without muddling them up?

Perhaps I misunderstood you. You want to have a hierarchy
    Folder: 2000
->Contains Event for January, February, etc
    Folder 2001
-> Contains Event for January, February etc
That sort of thing? Well with Events, no you can't. Yes you can do that with Albums, but not Events.
That said, it's a pretty limited way of organising your photos - in fact you might as well just use folders in the Finder. You can find the photos from any year, month, day with the Calendar tool. Simply click on the Search icon on the bottom, then on the the wee drop down and select the calendar tool.
Want the photos from a particular range - say, June 11 1999 to September 30 2001? Then a Smart Album will do that.
But the problem is that it's often hard to remember the year/month something happened. Did we go to Disney in 1997 or 98? There are other more useful ways that make your snaps more searchable.
Here's a canned answer that I offer that suggests some of the richer organising possibilities of iPhoto. It might spark something.
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a  typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John  to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

  • Calendar events on wrong days

I am baffled. I sync my iPhone 3G with my PC's Microsoft Outlook. My events are correct in Outlook, but many of them show up on the wrong day on my iPhone calendar. These are both repeating and one-time events.
For example, I have an all-day event for the start of Daylight Savings Time. In both Outlook and the iPhone, it shows as a repeating event "Every year on the second Sunday in March". This year, that means Sunday, March 13, from 12:00 AM to 12:00 AM. But on the iPhone, it is showing as occurring on Friday, March 11, from 12:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Even though the repeat is correct on the iPhone.
I have tried the sync option of replacing the entire calendar on the iPhone from the Outlook calendar and it does not fix the problem. I've also tried reboot and reset to no avail.
    Any ideas?

I tried some other things like
    1. Un-sync the calendar from Outlook and let iTunes (10.2.0.34) delete all my events from the iPhone's calendar.
    2. Confirm iPhone calendar is empty.
    3. Reboot the iPhone. Confirm iPhone calendar is still empty.
    4. Re-sync the calendar with Outlook. Confirm iPhone calendar is populated.
No joy. While most events are correct, many are not.
My iPhone calendar is now unreliable. It even shows St. Patrick's Day on March 16!
I've reported this as a bug on the feedback page. I hope it gets fixed soon.
If anyone has any ideas for fixes or workarounds, I'd love to hear them!

  • Event place wrong and can not be deleted

iPhoto has assigned the WRONG place to many of my photos even though they have correct geo-tags. In the past I've found that the wrong place comes from the event and that deleting the event's place stopped masking the photo's correct place. Now I have several events from which I can not delete the place. I can delete it from individual photos to reveal the correct place but I can no longer delete it from the event.
There seems to be several bugs here:
    1. iPhoto persistently assigns the WRONG place to events. The event place then masks all photo places. Most of my photos are automatically assigned the wrong place, even though each is correctly geo-taged.
    2. The event place assignment is, um, well, I can't remove the thing. When I view the event info I see the wrong place on the map but it is not in the "Place" text box and clicking the "x" does not remove what was not there to begin with.
The only solution I have found is to open the event, select all photos, Get Info, then remove the "place". This seems to un-mask the actual geo-tagged place. I'm a little reluctant to do this on-mass to the whole photo library as it may remove correct geo-tagged places.
Why is the wrong place being assigned to most of my photos? How do I prevent this in the future? How do I remove it from all photos in the library with out removing the correct place assigned to individual photos?

Thanks for the suggestion. I deleted preference and found that I had to go back and remove the wrong place again. But that was not the fault of deleting preferences. Seems that EVERYTIME I open iPhoto is associates the wrong place.
it is not that iPhoto is assigning an unexpected name - it is assigning altogether the wrong location. The photo may be geo-tagged in Utah and iPhoto will "place" it in Washington. And it is not just any wrong place. It is always the same wrong place. Here's a more specific explanation.
Years ago I went skiing in the Cascades at a place called "Yellow Aster Butte". iPhoto naturally does not have this place so I created a place with this name and assigned it to photos of that ski trip. I've been back several times and assigned the place of those photos to "Yellow Aster Butte"
Well, it is that location which iPhoto typically assigns to new photos. Now days most of my photos have a correct geo-tag. Since each photo has a geo-tag I expect iPhoto to recognize the location. Instead it assigns "Yellow Aster Butte" to every photo. If I go and remove this assignment the correct geo-tag will appear.
Well, it is not actually iPhoto assigning the wrong location on import. If I clear "Yellow Aster Butte" from photos, quit, re-lauch, I find that "Yellow Aster Butte" has been re-assigned to the photos.
"Rescan for Location" does not fix the problem. I have to remove the wrong location.
This is not coming from incorrect preferences as I just deleted them. Is there something messed up about my library? I'm beginning to look at Picasa with envy. Geo-tags are going to become more important. I've been hoping that Apple would get this worked out in iPhoto. This sure looks like a bug and it has persisted for a year or two.

  • Event date wrong

    Hi,
I'm using the latest imovie version with the new "event sort by date" (and the ability to delete a clip, not just reject it, yay!). Some of the events are sorted into the wrong time (even two years out). I've tried changing the clip dates, but they all seem to be correct anyway. Any ideas how to change the date of an event?
    Thanks!

    Claas,
I had a few different problems I needed to solve. First I was not viewing "All Clips" in the iMovie browser window. You need to makes sure you have the setting correct in your iMovie broswer.
Then I could see the rejected clips, and in my case there were some in the event from 2009 that were not being used in my project, and that cause the event to get dated 2009. In other words, an event is going to get dated based on the newest clip in the event. I deleted those clips, and then the project moved into the 2006 year folder (grouping).
Second I had some missing clips. Those were harder to fix. I had to go to the finder and open the iMovie library package and dig into the files there and find the missing files. I dragged them to my desktop, and then dragged them back into the clips section of the iMove browser. If you try this, make sure you have a good backup of everything in case something goes haywire. I hope this helps. It can be confusing. I final got everything fixed and working right. Now I'm having fun making movies!

  • Multi-day events in month/year view

I still use a paper year-planner because I can use it to more clearly visualise the shape and pattern of a month's (or the whole year's) major events: conferences, holidays, area meetings, upcoming bank-holidays and so on.
I put everything in my year-planner, but it helps me visualise and plan. When something lasts a few days, I write with large letters across all the days, or even use arrows to show the extent of the event if it's really big. Personal items go in in red, and business in black.
I wondered whether there might be a way to do a similar thing in iCal? Rather than have small text or even (as Outlook used to do) just put a little blue box in the day if anything was scheduled: hopeless if you want to visualise more than a very occasional appointment.
    Thanks,
    David

I guess I understand now but I don't have an answer.
To paraphrase: you want the effect that you see in week view reflected in month view; start time to end time clearly marked but shrunken in size when displaying the entire month.
I agree it seems natural to view a month that way, and I agree that a start time in month view doesn't really indicate the gravity of what you see in week view. Along the same lines, I wish that there was an option to scroll a week at a time rather than toggle month to month, so I understand what you mean about feeling constrained in what you display. That's the only Outlook feature that I'm a bit jealous of, but even Outlook aggravates me because it won't put the current week into the middle of the screen; I have to scroll every time I open it because the current month is centered like iCal.
Something I've done to make an event more prominent is check the all-day box, then write details of significance, like specific times, into the note. A possible workaround might be to use a colour that stands out for a calendar, that you create specifically to hold and indicate day wrap-around events so you know to toggle week view if you see that colour. Neither elegant.

  • Mailed iCal attachment shows right date but clicking will put appointment on wrong year, month and day. Even names involved are wrong!

Running Mountain Lion on MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. Suddenly a mailed iCal attachment showing the right date, time and attendees ends up years and months off on iCal with totally wrong attendiees, when clicked in Mail. iCal synced to iCloud. This may be very trivial for some of you but I need help, please.
    Thank you.

I ran into this exact issue after migrating a time machine backup from an older macbook air to a new macbook pro.
The following steps solved my issue:
    1) Backup your current mac
    2) Create a new user account on your mac, and login to that account.
    3) While logged into the new user account, right click the time machine drive and select "get info" > Click the lock icon at the lower right corner so that you can make permission changes. Then Click on the "+" sign and add your new user account to the "Sharing & Permissions" window. Be sure to grant your new user "Read & Write" privileges and when you have done so, click on the down arrow and select "apply to enclosed items" This step will allow you to copy the library folder from your old user account to the new account without hitting any permission issues.
    4) Download "TinkerTool" (An application that allows you to enable the viewing of any and all hidden files and folders on your local or mounted hard drives) and check the box that reads "Show Hidden and System Files" and then click "Relaunch Finder.
    5) Lastly copy the Library folder from the older user account on the time machine backup drive to the new user's library folder. Also be sure to copy your Desktop, Documents, Pictures, and Music folders to the new account as well. Open Mac mail and follow the instructions to import the previous accounts mail messages. Once you receive future ics attachments or calendar invites you should be able to click on them and load the proper date and time within your iCal application.
This worked for me and I hope it works for you.
    Thanks,
    Chris Sampson

  • No events in Calendar "Year" view since IOS 7 update

I just updated my iPad to IOS 7.0.4. Before the update the Calendar app "Year" view indicated days that had events/appointments by colour-shading that day. Since updating no events are visible in Year view. Is there place where I can turn this feature on again?

As I stated in original post, the previous IOS version of the Calendar app showed days with scheduled events by colour-shading the background for that day in the Year view... just like the Calendar app in OSX Mavericks still does. I find it very useful when planning vacations/events, etc. That way I can view the whole year and see when I have free blocks of time.
