Event names (black vignette) keeps showing
Sorry but I don't know how to call this!
That little black, square window growl-looking announcing the date of the event or date of the batch of pictures you're working on in iPhoto (like "December 2009")... well even if it's been an hour of me working on pix in the same ALBUM (not in the events pane!), I'll click on a picture and that **** black window will open in the dead center of the screen, thus over the picture I need to look at, and there is no way to close it!
And it doesn't just stay open for half a second. Last time it stayed open for over 10sec!
Is this happening to anyone else? Did I change a setting without realizing it?

A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

How do you transfer photos to external backup and keep the photos in events with event name or with description name. Each time I have tried to transfer them they only transfer with a jpg number so you don't know what photos are what. When you have several thousand photos it is difficult to determined what is what.
Why does iPhoto have the ability to put photos in events and to give them descriptions if it doesn't transfer this info with the photo. I want to back my photos up to an external drive.The simplest way to achieve what you want is to back up the iPhoto Library. That will get everything.
You sem to be exporting from iPhoto to the Finder. The Finder does not have the same organisation capabilities as iPhoto. If you're going to do that you need to understand some of the differences between the two.
Event Name will become Folder Name.
'Description Name' I guess is the Title you give the Photo
Jpeg Number is the File Name assigned by your camera.
So: File -> Export
Set your Kind to Jpeg
Select your preferred Quality
Check the Boxes at 'Titles and Descriptions' and Location Information
Under FIlename select 'Use Title'
Click on Export. In the Next Window choose a New Folder as your export destination and then Name that as you prefer

Black box with timer going round keeps showing up!
I keep getting black box with timer going round keeps showing up! I know how to use the memory clear app built in to my BB, I also have Boost memory, I know how to click the browser and then options tik the bottom 2 boxes plus all the rest, I've pulled battery, I also have Bejoose. This just started the last couple days. Its really frustrating to try to type something in an email or FB and have it freeze up for a minute or so. I just don't know what else I can do.

Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional. -

Finder shows only dates and not Event Names???

When browsing through Finder to copy some photos for other applications, some of my event names show up as names and some show up as the dates the photos were taken... but all the events have been named and show as such in iPhoto '09 Why is that?

JoeThe power of iPhoto is its relational database - but that does mean you have to use it - it is not a file based system and takes a different way of thinking -- and note that even if you cheat and go directly into the database successfully the structure probably will change in the future that has occurred in the last several versions - so it pays to use the correct methods - which IMHO Terence has documented much better than Apple has

FCPX Missing Event "Event Name Already Exists"
I imported some footage into FCPX in a new event. When I went back into Final Cut, the event was missing. I've searched through as much of my computer as possible (from typing in the event name and file numbers in Finder to digging through folders) and it is NOWHERE. The footage only exists on my computer so I'm in a bit of a bind. Last night I finally accepted that it was gone, so I tried to upload the footage that I do still have. When I typed in the new event name, a box popped up that said ""Blabla" already exists" Choose another name"..... So the event does exist somewhere on my computer I just have absolutely no idea where it has gone or where to find it. It's not in any of the Final Cut Backups that I have.
I'm trying really hard to not freak out right now, but I literally just lost 4 hours of work on an edit and I can't find it.
First of all, I started a project and worked for 4 hours straight, from start to finish. I went to export the project XML and it froze. I waited like 3 minutes and then had to force quit. I opened it like 4 more times and had to keep force quitting bcuz it wasn't responding. I restarted my mac and when I opened FPCX it didn't freeze but my work was gone. But not all of it. Literally the first two clips of the edit and thats it. I checked the backups and it didn't seem to make them. I went to restart the edit, and when I went to create a new event (with the same name as before), it said it existed.
I'm hoping you could tell me if there is any way I can get my project back. Where might these "created events" be if they aren't showing up in FPCX. I search bared my finder and they don't show up?
