There are certain limitations on how close to the subject the camera can be and still achieve a focus lock. The yellow square indicates that the camera was unable to focus on the subject.
How close to the subject is the camera when you are focusing on it?

App Store app in my iPhone crashes very often. Why? There is a solution for this?

I have tried to find for a way to contact/ask apple directly about this issue with no avail, until I found this place. This is my first question here. I am a newby.
Sometimes when I open my App Store app in my iPhone and I am either browsing for apps, or looking for an update it crashes. I do not know why, but sometimes is very frustrating.
We all know how frustrating is when any app crashes, or slows down. Sometimes there are ways to ask the developer directly why, and/or send a report for them to try to fix it. What about when is an app for Apple the one that crashes constantly, or slowes down? To whom do we need to contact? How can I complain?
Any suggestions?

JVM falls down often. Why? (I have thread dump)

I've seen that there is 5 locks that are in waiting state from more than one another threads. This locks are in waiting state for some minutes.
One of this lock (0x00002b58afb89630) is never locked in stack dump, but 85 threads waits for it. How can it be???
Another 5 locks are locked with threads, that makes primitive operations for very long time. For example this thread now in java.util.HashMap.newKeyIterator, but 89 other threads are waiting for lock <0x00002b58afb85b1> for few minutes:

Weblogic: ONE thread cause CPU soaring(50%+),NEVER die,why?

APPSERVER: weblogic 8.1.4 sp4
JDK: IBM jdk1.4
OS: AIX 5.3
DB: oracle
our app model is as follows:

the proxy server and server1/2/3 are all in one domain(server1/2/3 one cluster),
once we restart the proxy server,everything looks fine,but 1 or 2 days
later,the CPU start soaring,from 10~20% to 50%(proxy server cpu usage),
however,the server1/2/3 are all healty(cpu not high),if we restart server1/2/3
the problem still exist, and after some time,the cpu would be up to 90%+,then
we MUST restart the proxy server,then everything ok again.
Now the cpu is 50%+,we checked the proxy server's active threads,and found ONE

Ok, that didn't work and only closed out this window in discussions. After it closed this one I tried again doing the same but nothing. Makes sense though because if it closed this one out it would close everything else out on my desktop too. This is like a giant screen saver. All my other .jpg icons are still on my desktop over the top of this big pic. Is it possible this is what it is, just a screensaver? I did the same with another pic from the same website and it didn't do this. I clicked on my mouse to save a pic to the desktop and this monstrous thing appeared. My dock is still there and the top bar that has the apple, Safari, edit, etc., but not anything else that you would normally click on to close a window.

A multitude of problems: dying for no reason, no backup for restoration...

Exactly what it says. I've only had the 2nd generation since August, but it's been a hassle just keeping the thing alive and working. Most of the time (let's say 75%), it runs as it sound; for the rest of the while, it'll often die despite the fact that it's half, or even fully-charged. Sometimes it'll stop working when it's in active use--again, just out of the blue. And you'd think that if I pressed the button, an image of an empty battery or an image depicting a cable to iTunes would show up--and sometimes it does, but for the most part, I can't get a response out of it. When it magically revives, it either reboots or "wakes" from sleep mode, even if I didn't leave it in sleep mode. (Actually, it's died several times when I put it in sleep mode for a few minutes, sometimes seconds.)
Most of the time, I'm forced to hook it up to my laptop and wait for anything between a few minutes to a few hours for my computer and my Touch to register that it's being charged (or rebooted). There have been times when my laptop will pop up with a message saying that there's an "unknown device" attached or that the USB port isn't working; waiting a long while and repeatedly attaching and detaching the cable finally gets it going.
Right now, my Touch is currently in restore mode for absolutely no reason--it just killed itself after being in sleep for a few minutes, and when I attached it to my laptop, iTunes came up saying that my Touch needed to be restored.
Now, with the restores--iTunes 8 won't let me backup my Touch--it has the default settings restore and one from December 23, but despite later attempts, there simply isn't the "backup" option when I right-click on the Touch icon on the iTunes window.
And when I had no choice but to restore to the December 23 backup, iTunes bypassed that and put it back on factory settings, meaning that I'm having to sync everything all over again >( ARGH.
Unrelated, but why will iTunes register some Asian characters and not others? It makes Japanese/Chinese symbols in the song names turn into hieroglyphs. Is it Vista (since it happens on Vista despite all efforts to figure out what's going wrong with the OS DX)?
Now I'm having a hard time getting it just to sync certain files and not my entire library headdesk.

I bought it new from eBay (yes...but it was brand new and factory-sealed from a reputable dealer). I've been trying to get to the seller (he's contacted me by email before D:) for a receipt (why didn't I just ask him to send it with in the first place?) but I can't get hold of him (just tried sending another about an hour ago), so I won't be able to discuss repairs with the Apple crew or inquire about a replacement or their policies ...

Why does my Macbook Pro glitch when I'm watching a film on iTunes?

I have a 2006 Macbook Pro, with up-to-date software, and whenever I watch a film on iTunes, it glitches every so often. Why is this?

When I say glitch I mean the video freezes for a couple of seconds, the audio carries on and then the video fast forwards itself to catch up with the audio. It repeats itself at frequent intervals.
The hard drive is 500GB (the RAM is 3GB)
There is about 230GB left
The internet connection is very fast, and in one half of the house it is WPA2, and in the half where I usually watch films, it is WEP

Nothing is connected to my laptop when I usually watch films
I am 90% of the time usually running off the mains.
I also forgot to mention, that this also happens when watching a film in iMovie or iPhoto. It only started happening a couple of months ago. I hope this helped.

Why duplicates from Save As?!!

What's happened to the Save As command - one of those I use(d) most often. Why do I get Duplicate instead? That's nuts!
How can I reinstate SaveAs across the board. (Thankfully Microsoft kept it in Office)

In the keyboard preference pane, under "keyboard shortcuts" click on the item "Application Shortcuts". Now click the little plus at the bottom of that list and type "Save As..." (Without the quotes) Then click in the shortcut box, and hold "command-shift-s" (the good old save as... shortcut)
You have to reopen open applications for the changes to take effect.
Now Save As... will be the default, and the silly Duplicate option sits underneath without a shortcut.
Accidentally, in Mountain Lion, there is also now an option in the general preferences called "Ask to keep changes when closing documents" This gives the "dont't save.." prompt back to further restore normality.

Why is "internet" flagged as miss-spelling in Indesign but not auto-corrected?

when the entire support system for Indesign exists on the internet, why is this word not recognised by the Indesign inbuilt dictionary?
Further, I have auto-correct set to ON! Yet it's not correcting this to whatever it assumes is the correct spelling. Given that the listed suggestions when middle tapping are "Internet" or "INTERNET" why is it not auto-correcting to one of these? It's not like it could be some other word I'm trying to type.

I'm guilty of being a little "new school" in this regards. I type a lot, mostly explaining stuff and demonstrating stuff, and illustrating points and ideas, thoughts and concepts, structures and paradigms of approaches and **** like that. Really utter nonsense, more than anything... and I utterly rely on spell check auto-correct. I actually use it much more like an Auto-Complete than autocorrect. Such is my reliance on it.
There's a certain joy to structuring words to a space, that's part of a design vanity and aesthetic that means little to few. But those times that I've used that approach in Indesign I'm stuck wondering how my spelling is doing. Because my spelling, mostly, sucks.
It would be REALLY nice, to have an option, apart from these other options, to use the OS (in this case Mac OS X) spell check throughout Indesign, in addition to the and concurrent with the custom library of personal spell corrections. In this manner it could be like Microsoft word, in the sense that the auto-correct of Indesign can be used like a "macro" and the OS auto-correct (which I've trained heavily to my words and way of expressing myself) can be running "as normal".
I find it a little strange that a layout program doesn't have this ability to use the host OS's spell check, because I can't be the only designer that's both using the layout features of Indesign and generating the content that goes into that layout. And it's completely undesirable to be swapping between a word processor, or even the inbuilt editor of Indesign, when I would much rather see my words go where they're going to be, live, and auto-corrected in whatever manner I choose.
But, there you go. My two cents on something it appears nobody else cares about, thinks about or works like.
As to programming, yes, I fully understand, the words and phrases and keywords from that... you'd need a while to train word processor style environment to deal with that. I have often wondered why code editors don't learn from the auto-completes of word processors, and vice-versa.
I really like the way Xcode does Objective-C suggestive completion, for example. That's unbelievably fantastic, particularly for someone like me that knows very little programming and even less of Foundation and CocoaTouch etc. I don't have to keep going back to the docs, just need to start with the first few letters of the method/class and go from there... it's basically helping me write the line from there.
Imagine a word processor like that...

HT201401 My iPhone 4S with iOS 6 is draining battery in large chunks and after full charge drops to 1% within 15 mins why

I am so frustrated right now as I have to have my iPhone constantly on charge. After full charge it can drop from 100% to 1% in 15 minutes even when not it use. It often die whilst displaying 35% and will only come back on after charging which shows it in red zone empty needing charge. The red battery pic can remain for over an hour before it regains any life!
Any suggestions done all the usual
Reset
Removed email accounts
Killed off open apps
Turned off battery draining things like Siri etc
Phone is 1 year old
Help as I can't afford a new one and need this for business too

Pros:
4. Notificaion now use any address while position is used, not only address book.
5. Great DND mode with auto swithcing.
6. MUCH more faster Safari work.
7. Great and funny way to reload messages in mailbox.
8. Separate footer for each mailbox -GREAT!
Cons:
1. WiFi - works as it was.
2. Apple map. I think it's good that google went out. Apple will develope own service and it will be better. For the moment I found Apple map less usefull, but it knows the way between Russia and Finland when Google doesn't.
3. No overheat observed... Today I was thinking that iPhone became hot, but it was on sunsine...
4. As it was 100% at evening - 100% at morning so it is now the same. While usage also the same.
5. Yes, I'm also don't know what is this for..
6. So what? I don't care.

Since FF23.0.1, Red cats(Blue) incompatible, have been using Wolf Moon Shirt, why do I have to keep enabling it when starting FF over?

Once I've opened FF, re-enabled Wolf Moon Shirt, it will mostly stay on, but I have to do it at least once a day, sometimes more often. Why?? Wish Red Cats (Blue) was compatible with this version of FF!!

My ? referred to why Wolf Moon Shirt will not stay up as theme since I can't use Blue Cats with this version of FF, must re-enable it at least once a day. I would really prefer to have the Blue Cats, tho.
The thread suggested for looking at contains versions that are - as far as I know - older than the one I have, and so are the FF versions referenced. As far as doing any work-around kind of thing, I do not have the foggiest notion how to even begin, never mind do.

Wait on Asynchronous Call - why so long?

I have a window which comes and goes, during program operation.
This window has 72 subPanels, each containing a reentrant copy of the same VI for a "block". I insert the VI in the subpanel, and then run the VI with a CALL and FORGET call.
When the user closes the window, all the block VIs terminate, and the window closes. I don't care if the closing behind the scenes still goes on after the window disappears.
But when the user QUITs the program, with this window up, I need to make sure that all the block VIs have terminated before I shut down other things (close files, etc).
To that end, I changed the CALL and FORGET to a CALL and COLLECT operation, and installed a WAIT ON ASYNCHRONOUS CALL for each instance at the end of the big window code. This is after the blocks have been commanded to die (via an event).
I see from the debugging file (a portion is pictured) that it takes over 1000 mSec to wait for all the instances to die.
The thing is, if I change that "0" to "1000", then what I would expect is that the actual waiting time would drop to < 100 mSec.
My thinking is that during that timed wait, the blocks would be dying anyway, so it would take less time to actually wait on them.
But when I do that, nothing really changes. The listed time is still over 1000 mSec.
If I limit the number of blocks to 12, the time is 97 mSec, for 24 it is 185, for 36 it is 576, and so on - it's proportional to the number of blocks.
So, what is really happening? If it's just waiting on things to die, why doesn't the timed wait affect the numbers?
I originally (when I used CALL and FORGET) kept track of how many were opened and how many were closed and waited until that became zero, but this is a cleaner way of doing it, at least in theory.
Am I missing something?

Have you checked how long the first loop of the For loop takes, versus all of the others?
So I tried that, several times - the pattern is the same as shown here. The first few lines are from the blocks themselves, it's the last thing they do.
Looks like there's ONE case where there's a bigger delay than expected, All told, this takes about 600 mSec.
Maybe the debugging process affects that (* waves to Mr. Heisenberg * )
The 300-400 mSec is back to where I first saw this delay. Apparently the unreleased refs clog up the system enough to drive it up to 1000 (or 2000 mSec as I saw in one case).
Still, I don't understand why a timed delay ahead of the WAITS doesn't affect the WAIT time.
But I guess that's not important. It must be actually doing more work than simply asking "is it dead yet?"
