Events added in iCal don't display in Google Calender

I'm using my google address for iCal as I don't have a MobileMe account.
Events added in Google Calender display in iCal, but events added to this account in iCal don't display in Google Calender. I have tried subscribing to my Google Calender in iCal, but the address isn't recognized by iCal.
I have even tried deleting and re-adding my Google Calender, but still no joy.
Are the calenders I am using in iCal and Google the same calender, or are they actually different calenders with the same username? Someone help me sync the **** calenders!

I DO NOT want to move my iCal events to my google calendar.  I have way too many.  So, why won't my iCal events show up on my google calendar??  My google events show up on my iCal. It's a SYNC. They should be the same.
I'm sorry my answer to Clint is not what you want.
iCal and Google on their own do not do what you want.
There are/were some third party add-ins that worked in the way you describe that were mainly developed before Google Calendar had CalDAV integration.

  • Events Added on Touch Don't Appear in iCal

    Hi,
When I added a new event on the iPod Touch and then sync with my MacBook, the new event does not appear in iCal. However, iTunes does ask me if I want to modify the specific calendar, and if I then delete the event from the Touch it will ask me if I want to delete the event upon next sync. So, it would appear that events are getting added to the calendar but aren't appearing in iCal. I've tried a variety of things, including using a different calendar, switching from syncing all calendars to only a specific set, and even resetting the iPod.
I suppose this isn't a huge issue, but it's obnoxious to have to manually enter events into iCal after I've already also added them to the iPod. Syncing in the opposite direction (iCal->Touch) works just fine.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2008), Mac OS X (10.7.3), 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB mem
    OS 10.7.3
I was able to solve the problem through a combination of two suggestions in the troubleshooting advice provided in the like you sent:  turning off and then back on the Calendars box in System Preferences/iCloud, then restarting the computer. Works fine now, but it's scary to watch all of your calendar events disappear after you uncheck that box!
    Thanks!

  • Weird order of events added to iCal using Applescript

This is a script that has worked perfectly in the past and as far as I know has not been modified (my bad if so...) Currently it is adding all the correct events into iCal but taking a real long time to do it and this is probably due to the weird chronology it takes to putting the events in. I will include the script at the bottom of this post and here is a section of the event log that shows the weird chronology... Thanks in advance for the help.

Did it run faster in the past?
The events are happening as your script is generating them - for example, you get the event summary to compare in an if statement, then get it again when you assign it to a variable. The Script Editor's *Event Log* is handy in this case to see when you are creating a lot of extraneous or duplicate events.
Also, when using application tell statements, you should only target the application's terminology, since it will just pass back what it doesn't know how to do - in other words, try not to put anything in the statement except what you need from the application.
I don't have your iCal calendar events to play with, but a couple of tweaks to your code should improve the performance:

  • Google events added on iPhone not showing up on iCal, Google events added in iCal not showing up on iPhone

I have been having this problem consistently for a few months. If I delete my Google account from my phone, I can then re-enter it, and events will synch. A few times, I have also had to delete my Google account from my Air. Anybody else seen (and, hopefully, fixed) this? Needless to say, an up-to-date calendar is one of the more critical things for my iPhone to have.

By "iCal" do you mean Calendar on your Mac? If so, I'd suggest you stop using that entirely and just use the Google calendar web interface and the Calendar app on your phone. I have absolutely no problems with that set up (one iPhone, two iPads and an MBA). The Calendar program on the Mac just adds a layer of complexity to the process.

  • Overlapping events between months and extra events added by iCal

    Aloha, everyone.
My wife is the primary iCal user and often syncs between the iMac and her iPad. She's a private tutor and has a ton of calendars operating in iCal for each of her students.
    Two problems:
    1) for this summer, July is giving us problems. We forward to August, and when clicking back, it won't go to July. I click again and it will go to June. However, some events from August overlap June events. In other words, I can read two events in the same spot.
    2) iCal will add additional copies of the same event on the last Sunday of the month for the previous month. Say the event is "buy apples" on June 27th. When I go to July's calendar, June 27th still shows and it will have 3 additional "buy apples" events.
This is driving my wife nuts. Any help?
    Thanks!

I have the exact same problem as what you described. I made a backup of iCal and then tried to experiment by turning all calendars off to find out when I could get from August directly to July again instead of going two steps back to June and one step forward to July. I thought that certain events were the cause but that does not seem to be the case. In one instance I reached a point where one event could not be erased at all.
There are events that will still show when the corresponding calendar is turned off. Those will show in every month you switch to and cause the overlap. Clicking on that event will turn the corresponding calendar back on again and the "ghost" events will then disappear, at least temporarily.
Since so many of us are having the same problem someone needs to alert Apple that there is a serious bug here. It is making iCal almost unusable and certainly not trustworthy enough to be deployed in a business environment.
I hope there will be a bug fix soon.

  • Alerts for recurring events in iCal no longer display on iPhone after iOS5 upgrade

That pretty much says it.  I have a daily meeting in my iCal, with two alarms set, one for 15 minutes before and one for 5 minutes before.  The alerts no longer display on my phone after the upgrade.  (They appear on my Mac no problem.)  Has anyone else seen this problem?  I have notifications turned on for iCal , set to Alerts.  Tried badges, tried turning notifications off then on, to no avail.  It doesn't display for recurring events that were in my calendar before the upgrade and for those created after the upgrade.  I don't seem to have a problem with regular i.e. non-recurring events.  Doesn't seem to matte also if it is the default calendar or a different calendar either.  (I tried Reminders and that worked fine, but I don't want to have type all of my recurring events in to iCal and then in to Reminders as well....)
    Thanks very much

I'm having the same problem on my iMac (works on a different phone on my MBP). I restored the iphone and no dice. I'm also constantly getting a beach ball... Hope someone out there knows a workaround.

  • Calendar events created in iPhone don't sycn to iCal

I migrated from a Blackberry to iPhone about a month ago, so am somewhat green to the nuances of the platform.
I notice that when I create a calendar event in the iPhone (3g, 2.2.1), it does not get sync'ed to my iCal calendar. Changes in iCal sync to the iPhone just fine.
I've done the reset suggestions listed in the Apple support site that relate to resetting the iSync history as well as running the unix command with no change.
    Any suggestions here?
    thanks,
    Larry

I am also having the problem. Events created on the iPhone do not sync to either my MobileMe calendar (no matter what platform (Mac/PC) or browser(IE/Safafi) I open it from)or the iCals on either my desktop or laptops Macs. All have MobileMe preferences set to sync calendars, and iPhone is set to Sync with my Macs in iTunes. All events added anywhere BUT the iPhone itself, sync across all my Macs and MobileMe, only the event actually added from the iPhone itself fail to sync.
Anybody got anything new on this?

  • Events created on iPhone not added to iCal

The events I've created on my iPhone to not get added to iCal when I sync via iTunes. I've tried "sync all calendars" as well as syncing selected calendars.
Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong? I have a feeling it's really obvious and I'm just not seeing it...

I have a solution that ACTUALLY works:
Make sure your iPhone is displayed in iTunes.
Select your iPhone and then select the Info tab.
UNCHECK Sync Address Book contacts, and then recheck.
UNCHECK Sync iCal contacts, and then recheck.
    Sync your iPhone.
You'll be prompted to accept both Address Book and iCal changes and the sync will work!
From that point on all you have to do is sync normally and it'll transfer both Address Book contacts and iCal events BOTH ways!
Thank you to the fabulous Apple Tech representative who helped figure out this solution!!!

Just saw your post. Better late than never. You may want to
consider GameBrix.com, where you can create Flash based, casual
games using your web browser. No downloads are required. You can
create a game from scratch using a library of images, sounds and
game mechanics. You can also upload your own. The online script
editor will allow you to view and edit the ActionScripts associated
with each game mechanic. In short, a great way to ramp up on game
design and build your own game without investing a lot of $
    upfront.
BTW I am associated with GameBrix so any feedback is
    appreciated.

  • Added photos to the video timeline but they don't display.

I have added some photos to the video timeline but they don't display. The end of the last clip is frozen and then the next clip starts once the time for the photo display has elapsed.
A previous photo that I'd inserted in the project previously DOES run correctly. I suspect it may be to do with the fact that I've used cutaways in part of the video. However, where I'm inserting the photos is not in a section where there is an existing cutaway.

It would appear that it's a bug with iMovie. It won't let me add new photos to the duplicated project, but it WILL let me add them to the original project.
After searching the Discussion forums, it would appear that it has affected other users; some have used 'workarounds', but the solution doesn't always work for all. Hope Apple can address it.

  • ICal Order of Displaying Events

Does anyone know how iCal determines what order it displays (and prints) events?
I have two recurring events (amongst others on the same days) that start at the same time, and end at different times. They repeat every week day.
However, iCal insists on displaying these events in a random way.
On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for example, Event 1 will be to the left, and Event 2 to the right.
And Wednesday and Friday Event 2 to the left and Event 1 to the right.
Anyone know why it doesn't just display the events consistently? Or how I can force it to?
It may seem minor, but when you've got a structured timetable it looks rubbish with the events differing from day to day.
    It's driving me mad!
    Thanks,
    roryyy

Any solutions on this. I'm trying to create a schedule and even when I have the events in the correct order in the display, any changes to any day will randomly effect other days, and it prints in a completely different order then it is displayed. Help us Apple!

  • When syncing with Google Calendar invitees added to iCal events wont work

I'm using Spanning Sync to sync my iCal with Google Calendar (which
then syncs with the iPhone app Pocket Informant).
It may be a coincidence, but when I started using Spanning Sync, I
found that when I create a new iCal event and include someone in the
"invitees" field, that person then gets an error message when they attempt
to add the event to their iCal by clicking on the .ics attachment in the notification email ("iCal cant read this calendar file. No
events were added to your iCal Calendar").
When I add one of my own email addresses to the invitees field, the ics attachment works okay for me.
Is this related to the Google Calendar syncing or some other problem?

    Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I am guessing you setup the http://www.google.com/mobile/apple/sync.html
Please keep in mind that this service is still in Beta. So you may find that certain features do and do not work as you are experiencing. You may find some additional settings options for google calendars at
    https://www.google.com/calendar

  • Syncing deletes iCal events added on iPod Touch

Has anyone noticed that events added on the iPod Touch are deleted upon syncing on iTunes? I'm restoring the touch right now to see if that solves the problem...

Thanks for the suggestion. I do not have that option checked so that shouldn't be causing problems. I did the restore but it did not help. However, I now noticed that under the "info" tab, where I check sync with the various calendars on my computer there is a line that says "put new events created on this ipod into the calendar" and then a list of calendars. Interestingly, each calendar appears twice on that list. Any ideas on how I could reset that list?

    Jan 05: Sunday 04:00PM - 10:00PM
this is the code that i am currently trying to use but it does not seem to want to work
    <code>
    using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages theMessages for rule theRule
    tell application "Mail"
    repeat with eachMessage in theMessages
set recivedmessage to content of eachMessage
    try
    set themonths to "August"
display dialog "Month is" & themonths
    --display dialog recivedmessage
display dialog (characters 103 thru 554 of recivedmessage) as string
--display dialog ((characters 103 thru 108 of recivedmessage) as string) & ((characters 80 thru 86 of recivedmessage) as string)
    tell application "iCal"
    tell calendar "Work"
    set theDate to current date
--get the month specified in the email
set givencase to ((characters 103 thru 105 of recivedmessage) as string)
    --ignoring case and white space
if givencase is equal to "Aug" then
    set themonth to "August"
else if givencase is equal to "Sep" then
    set themonth to "September"
display dialog "Month is" & themonth
    end if
    --end ignoring
--create a date day, month, number, year
    set myDate to ((characters 110 thru 116 of recivedmessage) as string) & ", " & themonths & " " & ((characters 107 thru 107 of recivedmessage) as string) & ((characters 80 thru 86 of recivedmessage) as string) & "6:14:36 PM"
    make new event at end with properties {description:"info", summary:"Event ", location:"Event Location", start date:myDate, allday event:true}
    end tell
    end tell
display dialog "This is my format which is not working" & (myDate)
display dialog "This is the format " & (current date)
    end try
    end repeat
    end tell
end perform mail action with messages
    end using terms from
    </code>

There are some very specific rules when creating dates from strings in AppleScript and your code doesn't follow them, which is probably why it's failing.
The specifics are touched on in the recent AppleScript release notes, but the upshot is that crafting a date from a string is tricky, at best, partly due to the numerous date formats employed around the world.
The recommended solution involves starting with a date object such as current date and changing the elements you want. This is guaranteed to work better than any string.
In addition to that I don't recommend using offsets in the text as the basis for extracting the date from the message. It's prone to errors.
    I'd rework this something like:
    using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages theMessages for rule theRule
      tell application "Mail"
        repeat with eachMessage in theMessages
set recivedmessage to content of eachMessage
repeat with eachLine in receivedMessage -- iterate through each line in the message
          try
set thisDate to (get current date) -- start with a valid date
set {m, d} to {word 1 of eachLine, word 2 of eachLine} -- get the first two words of each line
            -- handle the day:
set day of thisDate to d
-- there is an easier way of doing this, but I'm lazy:
            -- handle the months:
            if m = "Jan" then
set month of thisDate to 1
else if m = "Feb" then
set month of thisDate to 2
            -- and so on…
            end if
-- rest of code to add the event to iCal goes here
            end try
end repeat -- for each line
end repeat -- for each message
      end tell
    end perform mail action
At the end of this, you'll end up with a valid date object that you can pass to iCal as the event start date, rather than the string object you're trying to use now.
