Events created on iPhone not syncing properly

I've set iTunes to "Put new events creatd on this iPhone into the calendar" to my "Home" calendar, but when I create a new event on my iPhone and sync, the event shows up in the Read-Only "US Holidays" calendar (it's one that I subscribe to from Apple). I've tried the "Reset Sync History" feature in iSync several times (rebooting afterwards) but the problem persists. Any ideas??

Items that I enter on my iphone also get added to a calendar that I subscribe to, which is supposed to be read only, even though I have chosen another calendar to add new items too. My read-only calendar does not appear in the select box in the itunes info sync page, but it is getting the events, no matter what calendar I do choose. Then when the calendar gets auto refreshed from its source, the events disappear. I cannot change the events to place them on a different calendar, once they are in iCal my, because the calendar is read-only -- to everything but iphone.

  • Events created on iPhone not syncing to iCal when I bought new Leopard iMac

that pretty much says it all... i had a powerbook g4 and no problem syncing. bought new iMac with Leopard. just noticed that events created on iPhone not showing up on iCal. Ideas?

    Ok, this will work.
    1. Turn off .Mac Sync in System Preferences.
    2. Open iCal and back up your calendar. File>Back up iCal. +(Just to be safe.)+
    2. In iCal, export all your calendars as file(s). File>Export. +(Note: You can safe these to folders that are in a similar order to the calendar groups that you might have for ease in importing them back in later.)+
    3. Delete all your calendars from iCal. +(Note: You will need to create a new "temp" calendar as iCal requires at least one calendar. *Also, it is very important to save the URL's of the calendars that you subscribe to for later importing.*)+
    4. Import the calendars you just exported. +(Note: First add a new calendar to iCal and use the same name as the calendar that you are importing. All the data from your exported calendar will be added to your new calendar.)+
    5. Open iTunes sync with iPhone, telling iTunes to reload all the info on my iPhone +(pertaining to iCal)+ INFO Tab>Replace information on this iPhone>check Calendar.
It's a pain and takes a while if you have a number of calendars, but it will work.
    Good luck!

  • Syncing Events Created with iPhone Not an Option?

Okay, I've read as many discussion threads as my eyes can handle and have tried several solutions suggested to no avail. I am using Windows Vista and Outlook 2007 but was very recently using Windows XP Pro and Outlook 2003. The same problem applies to both environments.
While I've had no problem syncing contacts and calendars from my computer to the iPhone, I cannot go the other direction. The selection box beside the phrases "Put new events (or contacts) created on this iPhone into the group (or calendar)," which is then followed but what should be a drop down menu, appears gray and is unselectable. I figured it was some simple preference setting in either Outlook or the iPhone that was causing the problem and found my way to the discussions to seek the remedy. Once here, I find myself overwhelmed and wondering if I now need a computer engineering degree to prevent missed appointments or the need for double entry. Please help a poor, technically challenged individual not regret the decision to by this phone!!

I'm guessing that perhaps the reason the option to "Put new Contacts/Events created on iPhone" is not available is that I only have one calendar/group (Outlook) available on my computer. That is also why it defaults to "All Contacts" and "All Calendars"
Evidently the actual syncing from the iPhone to the computer is unrelated to the availability of these options. At least that appears to be true in my case. I was actually able to get mine to work using the information in the article posted by someone else and available at
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305845
It seems the step regarding "Removing all other Third Party Add Ins" did the trick. I just didn't think it worked initially since the options on the Info tab did not change.
Hope that helps! Thanks to all for the input. B

  • Events created on iPhone NOT synching to Calendar - and I'm all up to date

I'm on a MacBook, running 10.4.10, all software is latest up to date, running iPhone 1.0.1.
I have a Calendar event I created yesterday for today (3pm appt). I've plugged/unplugged to sync repeatedly, iTunes reports sync is finished, but the event doesn't make it onto the MacBook's Calendar.
This is deeply alarming as I thought I could count on iPhone created events to migrate to my Mac and .Mac calendars - anybody know anything more about this?
    -mike

I'm experiencing a hybrid variation of what everyone else in this thread has reported.
    *Calendars*
I am using Entourage, and have two calendars set up in iCal. One is labeled Entourage and according to the notes, "This calendar is automatically created by Microsoft Entourage" so I'm leaving that one alone. I also created a second calendar named "iPhone". I have my iPhone sync preferences in iTunes set to sync with both calendars. Up until today (I hadn't synced calendars in a few days), everything seemed to move to and fro without any issues.
This morning though, the items I changed in iPhone successfully synced to both calendars in iCal, but did not carry over to Entourage. Even the "Entourage" calendar in iCal reflects all the changes. Similarly, items I added in Entourage are not making it over to the iPhone.
In iTunes, I have the preferences set to add new events from the iPhone into the Entourage calendar.
    *Contacts*
Contacts don't appear to be syncing in either direction.
Short story long, it looks like iCal and the iPhone are getting along swimmingly, but Entourage isn't syncing. I find this odd since the Entourage-created calendar in iCal looks fine - I would think if Entourage is showing as updated in iCal...then it would be updated in Entourage.
I did reset the sync history...that didn't appear to do anything helpful.
Entourage is my main calendar/address book...so this is a bit frustrating.

  • New icloud calendar created on iphone not syncing to icloud or mac

OK from the SBIFF website at sbiff.org (if you love film, check it out!) I downloaded their full ics calendar of events to my iphone 5 calendar.  On the iPhone 5, I imported that calendar data into a new iCloud calendar called SBIFF.  All events imported to iPhone with no problem and it's great!
However, I cannot seem to get the calendar events to sync to iCloud or my MacBook Pro except for the calendar name itself.
My MacBook Pro (10.8.2) is set to sync with iCloud and does so without a problem - so far.  iCloud.com calendar also shows all of my calendar events which are synced between Mac and iPhone.
The new calendar "SBIFF" on my iPhone shows all of the events, my MacBook Calendar shows ONLY the calendar name in Calendar sidebar in the iCloud section (and it is selected - checked).  None of the events are synced over from the iPhone.  Also, none of the events show up in iCloud either although, once again, the calendar name "SBIFF" shows up in the sidebar.
So, help me out here.  Why aren't the events showing up in iCloud or in my Mac calendar?  As far as I can tell all settings on iphone, Mac and icloud are correct.

    Thanks for reply.
In Settings>iCloud, my account is set up and appears under heading "iCloud."
In Settings>Mail, Contacts & Calendars, same account listed under heading "iCloud."
In Calendar list in iPhone Calendar app, new calendar is listing along with all others that are part of iCloud account.
All other calendars in that account sync, just not this new one with ics data imported to iPhone.

  • Contacts created on iPhone not sync with iCloud

I'm having this problem for a while now. Since my last iPhone.
    Currently I have:
an iPhone 5, an iPad, a MCB and an iMac.
All updated with last versions, all using iCloud to sync contacts.
If I create a new contact on the MCB or on the iMac, it will sync to iCloud and to the iDevices. If edit this contact, or even delete it from the device, it will be deleted from iCloud, MSB and iMac.
If I create a contact in the iPad, it will work fine if on settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, the "Default Account" for contacts is set to "iCloud" instead on "On my iPad"
The problem is: if I create a contact on the iPhone, it will not be synced with iCloud, MCB, iMac or iPad. It will remain only on the iPhone. And on the iPhone, under  settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars there is no "Default Account" for contacts, so I'm assuming it is set to "On my iPhone" by default.
Does anyone know how to add the option? or how to force the iPhone to create contacts on iCloud instead on the device itself?

Ensure that indeed you have your iCloud contact sync enabled on your iPhone. If this is true, try forcing the Default Account option to appear under Contacts on your iPhone Settings > Mail, Calendars, Settings. Then follow the instructions from here: iCloud contacts not syncing.
To force the Default Accont option to appear, simply enable an additional contact sync account such as Exchange or CardDAV

  • Events created in iPhone not showing up in iCal

The reason for the problem is that Tiger and Leopard used different places to store iCal calendar information only clearing out BOTH and starting fresh will ensure no old calendars from Tiger get in to corrupt the new Leopard ones.
Tiger stored calendars in: Users/<Username>/Library/Application Support/ical
    Leopard stores calendars in: Users/<Username>/Library/Calendars
Remove both these folders and quiet both iCal and iTunes.
Then just to be sure reset the preferences in iSync. Launch iSync>prefs>reset sync history. This may grey out as it thinks its done or not needed. This greying out happens if there are no devices listed in iSync, if so relaunch iSync and you get a short time to try again. iSync looks like its not syncing anything if you are only using .Mac and iPhone. This is because iSync previously controlled syncing .Mac but this is now in System Preferences and iphone syncing is done through iTunes in fact it iSync is still keeping a log behind the scenes, Its this log of sync history that needs to be reset.
Then open iCal and iTunes, iCal will remake the default calendars Home and Work. Which you can rename.
I had no old calendars to export and I'm not sure that bringing old ones back in will not cause problems again, for me starting fresh was the best way. If you can't then try exporting your current calendars and then do the clear out, bring them back in at the end. Hopefully they will go into the new Leopard location the old Tiger one will not be recreated.
Success! Thanks to Apple in Cork.

This is a posting of a problem and solution.

  • Calendar event created on iphone not showing in ical.

I have a 4S and when I create a calendar event in ical, it does not show up in my ical ofn my Macbook Pro.
I have check sync calendars in iTunes and have selected to display all calendars in my Macbook's iCal.
Is ther some thing I am overlooking, or a step I may be forgetting?
    Thanks

After a trip to the genius bar, I found how to solve this problem, at least for me:
    0) Plug in iPhone
    1) Start iCal
    2) Export all calendars (File -> Export)
    3) Quit iCal
    4) Delete all calendars from ~/Library/Calendars
    5) Start iCal
    6) Import all exported calendars
    7) Start iTunes, configure syncing to overwrite calendars on phone
    8) Sync iPhone

  • Events created on iPhone not added to iCal

The events I've created on my iPhone to not get added to iCal when I sync via iTunes. I've tried "sync all calendars" as well as syncing selected calendars.
Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong? I have a feeling it's really obvious and I'm just not seeing it...

I have a solution that ACTUALLY works:
Make sure your iPhone is displayed in iTunes.
Select your iPhone and then select the Info tab.
UNCHECK Sync Address Book contacts, and then recheck.
UNCHECK Sync iCal contacts, and then recheck.
    Sync your iPhone.
You'll be prompted to accept both Address Book and iCal changes and the sync will work!
From that point on all you have to do is sync normally and it'll transfer both Address Book contacts and iCal events BOTH ways!
Thank you to the fabulous Apple Tech representative who helped figure out this solution!!!

  • Contacts created on iPhone not syncing

I've noticed that if I create a contact on my iPhone, that content doesn't sync to the other address books. So everything looks fine on my phone: I can see their name in Messages, for instance.
But when I move to my desktop Mac, I can see only the phone number in Messages, the contact doesn't appear in Contacts, etc. If I go the other way and create on my computer, it's properly synced to the other devices.
I have multiple mail/contact profiles/accounts (several Gmail accounts, my work account, etc.) on my phone. It's almost like the contacts are getting "assigned" to my work account rather than my main Apple ID account, so they are fine on the phone, but aren't part of the Apple ID sync.. so to spe

You need to move the contacts to the correct contact group for them to sync. The factory Contacts app does not provide a way to do this; you need a 3rd party app such as Speed Names, which lets you assign contacts to a group and to move contacts between groups.
You can go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendars and scroll down to Contacts. Make sure the default account is iCloud so new contacts will go to a group that syncs.

  • Contacts Created on iPhone not syncing over to Address Book on laptop.

Contacts created in Address Book on laptop do sync over to iPhone - no problem - but not the other way around. I must retype contacts daily created in the field to laptop. Apple specialist unable to find the problem. Passed on to engineering, end of January. Haven't heard a word.
It worked fine until I updated 1.1.3. I had many issues after that update and am really leary of 1.1.4 after reading threads here. Have not updated.
Also drives me crazy having to spin that stupid wheel to find contacts. Come on do designers actually use this thing?
On the whole I'm happy with the iphone

I tried erasing all the phone data as you suggested, but to no effect whatsoever (apart from having to setup my email/wifi etc. all over again).
There's definitely something strange going on with the iPhone -> Mac connection. iPhoto shows the iPhone as being connected, even when it's not, and is still showing 23 pictures, which is what was on the phone before I reset it (they are now gone from the phone). iPhoto also calls it 'Apple iPhone', while I've changed the name to something else.
Calendar syncing is still functioning flawlessly, but contacts created on the phone are still not being transferred.
What's more, the contacts I added to the iPhone before I reset all the data were still on the phone afterwards.

  • IPhone not syncing properly with iTunes 10.5

    Hi,
I recently updated my iPhone 4 to the iOS 5 and also updated my iTunes to 10.5. A few days later I got an error message on my iTunes which said that the library was damaged, it would create and new one and save the 'old' one has "iTunes Library (Damaged)". Shortly after I synced my phone with iTunes and it removed many of my apps and all my playlists and music. I've re-downloaded all my apps, though any pictures, settings, etc saved within them have disappeared. I cleared the music on my phone and re-synced it. Any playlists which were re-synced only actually synced recently added songs (i.e. if a playlist had 20 songs and I added 3 more only those 3 would show up on my phone).
I think all my data, apps, etc are still on the phone but iTunes isn't recognising it; any ideas of how to get iTunes to recognise it?
    Thanks!
If it helps or makes a difference, I'm using Windows Vista.

Same thing (?) is happening with my iPhone4. Syncing wirelessly doesn't work at all, and when I connect it to my Mac, sync gets stuck on 'Syncing Genius Data to _____' and under that it says "waiting for items to copy". This is also the case with my iPod Touch 4th gen. Both are on iOS5 and I have the latest iTunes. So I just backup both of them, and then choose the sync button on bottom right of iTunes in the device window. Don't know if it's actually doing anything.
    This *****.

Sync between MacBookPro and iPhone 3G does not sync properly.  Calendars duplicate events but worse is that only contacts from Address book from letter T onwards sync.  Any contacts on iPhone which are not on Mac are lost during sync.
    Solutions?

No, I never really found an easy solution.  I believe it is an issue with some corruption in the iTunes database on the specific device.  In my case, both my iPad and iPhone now show duplicate stream songs if viewed through iTunes on my Mac, but they show different songs.  A couple years ago I had a similar issue on my iPhone, and Apple support suggested I back up the phone, completely reset it, and then restore it from the backup.  It did work, so I imagine it would probably work for my current issues with the iPhone and iPad.  But resetting and restoring an iPad or iPhone always makes me a little nervous that something will get lost.  When I did reset/restore the iPhone, I do have to say, the restore process was 100% perfect and I did not lose any data at all even though Apple support said I might.  If you try to go that route, I would suggest backing the device up both to a computer through iTunes, and to the iCloud so that you have a double backup.
None of this really resolves the issue with how the iTunes databases are becoming corrupted on the apple devices though, so it is very likely to happen again until they fix it.  I have been unable to determine if there were any specific actions or conditions which caused the corruption to happen in the first place.
Might be worth another call to Apple support, or dropping in the local Apple store if you have one near by.

  • Event created on iPhone does not appear in iCal

When I create an event on my phone and sync, it does not appear in iCal. Events created on my laptop sync without issue. Contacts sync both ways, but calendar events do not go from the phone to the computer. I am not using MobileMe to sync, simply using the USB cable.
I have tried the following to resolve my issues:
    * Make sure iTunes and iPhone are up to date
    * Make sure all calendars are set to sync with iTunes
    * Try different USB ports on the laptop
    * Restart phone and computer
    * Reset sync history in iSync and re-sync
    * Follow directions in this support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627 to do a full reset of sync history and re-sync
Yet after trying all of those solutions, I still cannot sync events created on my phone to my laptop. Does anyone out there know of anything else I can try that might work?
    Thank you,

  • The reminders app in my iPhone and the reminders in Mac are not syncing properly

I use the Reminders app and Notes app extensively to keep track in both my Mac and iPhone. However the reminders app in my phone does not immediately sync when i made changes in my Mac and later when i make a change in my iphone Reminders, it over writes the reminders in Mac. Please help so that my work syncs smoothly from Mac to iPhone and vice versa without any loss of information, just as Apple advertises and takes pride in being able to do so.

There are a couple threads out there with this issue.  I had the same problem. Try this link for the answer...
Re: Reminders not syncing properly with iCloud and iOS 8
At the bottom - one person has the answer...On your iPhone remove your iCloud account.  Then add it back.  It's not as painful as it sounds it only took me less than 5min to add everything back
