Events randomly moved to deleted items folder.

I have a user that is using a Macbook Air with Outlook 2011 for Mac, iPhone and iPad in an Exchange 2010 environment and she is seeing random events moving to the deleted items folder.  I have run Calcheck on her Calendar and it returns no errors.
I have tried wiping every device and turning off calendar sync on the iPhone and iPad but the issue remains.

  • Items moved to deleted items folder are disappearing

By boss currently has an issue with e-mails received in Mail on his computer and moved to the trash folder are disappearing after a certain timeframe. His e-mail account is set up as IMAP and under user preferences/mailbox behaviors under "Trash" both move deleted items to trash and store deleted items on server are checked. Permanently erase deleted messages it set at never. (he likes to keep deleted messages for reference)
I have access to his e-mail on my computer(his e-mail is set up as a separate account) and the settings are set up identical to those on his computer. My e-mail is set up as POP3- the move deleted items to trash mailbox is checked and permanently erase deleted messages is set at after 30 days. Could this cause his e-mails to delete after 30 days as well?

The problem is recurring. All devices are using Mail- preferences are set to never remove deleted messages. I have contacted our e-mail host (Bluehost) to verify that nothing is triggering the deletions on their end and they insist there isn't.

  • Items are not moved to the deleted items folder when they expire

    Hey
I have Exchange 2010 Server (Version: 14.01.0438.000) and configured a retention policy with one retention tag for the
inbox that moves items after 365 days to the deleted items folder. I have assigned this policy to one Mailbox to see if it works. It doesn't. :)
All Items are "stamped" correctly with a expiry date. And the Messages show now "This item is expired" for example:
I made the Policy a week ago and waited to see if the items will be moved but nothing happen until today. The Application Log shows no errors or warnings. I already used "Start-ManagedFolderAssistant"
    multiple times....
what is wrong here? And how do i track the problem down?
i also checked all the other threads regarding the same or alike issues. But couldn't find anything that would halp me.

  • Emails are automatically moved to Recover deleted Items folder

    Hi,
We have a user and he is receiving his emails in Inbox but after few seconds it will be automatically moved to Recover Deleted Items. We checked his Outlook and also in OWA and we couldn't see any rule. Even though I ran /cleanrules switch but still
same problem exists. Any suggesstion to resolve this issue? Thanks

    Hi,
By "Recover Deleted Items folder", do you mean the Deleted Items folder or
Recover Deleted Items dialog when clicking Folder tab >
    Recover Deleted Items button?
I'd like to confirm if all the received messages don’t disappear directly but still only stay in your mailbox for a short period of time before they disappeared?
Which version of Outlook are you using? Do you have the default delivery location of your mailbox set to a PST file?
In addition, some problematic add-in may also cause such issue, especially the virus scanner add-in that integrate with Outlook. If you have such add-in installed, I'd recommend you contact the vendor of the antivirus, ask them how to uninstall the
add-in or change the settings to ignore Outlook emails when scanning.

  • Events randomly moving and being deleted

    Hi,
We run Sun Calendar Server 2005Q4 and are having many "reported" issues of the server randomly moving or deleting user events. Some seem to be user error but I am getting enough reports now to be suspect. We also use the outlook connector 7.1.238.
    My question:
    1) Has anyone ever heard of this?
    2) Can I log users calendar events (ie who, when, deleted events).
    3) Any ideas of what I can do?
Its becoming a huge problem and I have no idea how to even begin troubleshooting it. We recently worked with Sun support to rebuild our db and it has a clean bill of health.
Any help would be great as I am desperate.
    Thanks,

Do you see similar behaviour with the Thunderbird Lightning Plugin or if the user uses UWC/CE?
Not that I know of, but nobody is using these interfaces. Outlook is our support way of accessing. There is no option to try another interface. The advantage of UWC/CE (and Lightning) is that there is no cross-session caching on the client side to muddy the waters i.e. are the events on the server but not being seen by the client or on the client but not on the server.
Have you tried performing an "Empty and resync" with the affected clients:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2567/6n4rl8v17?a=view
You can try enabling the http commands logging which logs WCAP events.
How do i do this? I tried the:
! Create an ENS message when an event is deleted? (yes/no)
    caldb.berkeleydb.ensmsg.deleteevent = "yes"
but this did nothing.I was more referring to these steps:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4654/gcpqu?l=en&a=view
Try to isolate the specific circumstances/patterns behind the problem e.g.
We do have a couple users whose specific events keep getting deleted/moved, but what can i do with this.Is there anything different/unique/special/common about those events which get delete/moved vs. those that don't.
Try collecting a snapshot of the problem user accounts (csexport) each day and when the customer does report the problem compare the snapshots to see whether there was a change on the server end.

    Shane.

  • Using "Deleted Items" folder for long term storage.

I have a user that is using the "Deleted Items" folder in Outlook for long-term storage.  He has unchecked the box in the options which would remove the items in the Deleted Items folder at shutdown
and is having problems with his Outlook freezing up several times a day.  He was using a Microsoft Surface as his primary computer and has since changed to a Dell Latitude, but Outlook still freezes up.  He has an Office 365 Pro Plus license.
I have been looking for articles to explain all the reasons for not using "Deleted Items" for storage, but in order to get him to change, This is not a .pst, it is the Outlook default “Deleted Items”.
.  I really need some "ammunition" to let him know the consequences of keep that much mail in Deleted Items.
Could you tell me when Outlook starts, does it enumerate the Deleted Items folder as it does the Inbox?

I have to agree with Robert's point here. The question of whether or not the user should be doing this answers itself: of course he shouldn't. On a lighter note there's a Dilbert cartoon from 2003 which covers this very point:
    http://dilbert.com/strips/comic/2003-11-13/
I'd suggest you ask him to create a sub-folder of his inbox and get him to move everything over, then he still has his history and can use deleted items the way it was intended.
The question I would ask is are you sure that this has any bearing on his Outlook freezing issue? I have encountered people who never empty their recycle bin and I have encountered issues with Outlook freezing, but I don't recall ever having the two together.
If you still have issues after he's moved everything then it's a general Outlook freezing issue, so you have to look at those sort of things. For a start, is it bang up to date with Microsoft Updates? If so how big is his mailbox? Presumably he has an ost
file, so how big and fragmented is that? I'd probably try creating a new Outlook profile. If not then what add-ins does he have, could they all be disabled for a while to see if it's one of them, then add them back one at a time? If not is it worth running
a repair in Office? I've had that fix a fair few issues.
Just a few thoughts. I don't know if any of them will help.

  • Exchange email issues (remote search and deleted items folder)

I use an exchange account on my Q10 and there is two huge problems about it. - the remote search will find email that are at most 60 days old, anything older can't be found on the Q10. I have added the same exchange account to my iPad and iPhone 5 where I can search for several year old email. - the "deleted items" folder won't sync on the Q10. So whenever I delete an email on any device (including the Q10) it gets moved to deleted items. But the Q10 where the folder is empty because it does not sync. (Issue has been confirmed from several people on crackberry forums)

I'm currently experience the same situations with my Q10. It seems like doesn't sync the folder immediately even if you select the refresh option.yoomy wrote:

  • TS4002 Messages older than 30 days in inbox are not moved to deleted items when removed.

I've had a few messages that were stored in my inbox and were older than 30 days. I've noticed that when I actually delete them they aren't moved to Deleted Items (and sat for 30 days before permanently deleted). It seems that the actual date of the email is being used to calculate the age and not the time it sits in deleted items.

If deleted email isn't being moved to the trash you might want to go to icloud.com from your computer, open mail, click on the gear-shaped icon on the top right and choose preferences, then confirm on the General tab that you have checked "Move deleted messages to" and selected "Tash" from the drop-down list.

  • Powershell Command to permanently delete items in ALL users Deleted Items folder older than X days.

Does anyone know a powershell command that can be run on Exchange 2010 SP1 that will permanently delete mail in the deleted items folder older than X days for ALL users in a specific database? This should include any user created subfolders in deleted items
    also.
I know that seems bizarre to have user created subfolders in deleted items but we have found that users have discovered that if they create subfolders then their deleted items dont get purged at the regular retention period time.
    Thank You.

For Exchange 2010 SP1, we can use search-mailbox and new-mailboxexportrequest to delete message in certain folder.

  • Online Archive - Deleted Items Folder

    Hello,
I have setup retention policy and tags.  It seems to be working okay, almost.  A default retention tag applies which archives items after one year.  This seems to be working ok for folders such as inbox, and sent.  However, it does not
seem to be working for the deleted items folder.
I've also created personal tags to archive after various periods.  Users try to apply those personal tags to the Deleted Items folder, but the managementAssistent never listens to that personal tag on the deleted items folder.  Personal tags do
work for other folder (custom and inbox, etc).  And the managementAssistant does run as expected... just not on the deleted items folder.  This happens for another (6 month personal tag to archive deleted items folder), and same for my mailbox (1
week personal tag to archive deleted items folder).
    Any suggestions?

  • How do you permanently delete trash in the deleted items folder?

I have over 4000 deleted emails in my deleted items folder. How do I permanently delete them from that folder? Thanks.

    Hello,
If you are talking about the Deleted Items folder in an Outlook client, you probably should ask in the
    Microsoft Office Community Forums.
Otherwise, I'd probably ask in the
    Outlook.com forum on Microsoft Community.
In both cases, however, you should be able to right click the Deleted Items folder and select "Empty Folder"

  • Help please? Outlook 2011 stuck on 'updating message list' after deleting 1000's of emails from my 'deleted items' folder

    Hello.
I've been searching online for an answer and can't find one - hopefully someone can help...
I recently updated to Yosemite and decided on a general clear-out, so went through 1000's of documents, photos, emails, etc. I ended up deleting the all of the emails in my 'deleted items' folder. Since then, when I go into Outlook and hit the 'send/receive' tab it logs on as normal, but then gets stuck on 'updating message list' - it shows me that there are emails and how many, but will not download them.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
    Many thanks!

  • Loss the "Deleted Items" folder on Exchange 2007 WEB interface and any Outlook with any version.

    Hi,
My client had lost his "Deleted Item" folder in his outlook, and I try to used the WEB interface to help to check, also can't find out the "Deleted Item" folder.
Then we're try to used outlook 2003,2007 and 2013 also can't find that.
Could you mind let me know any solution we can solve this problem with my client?
    Thanks

I believe the Deleted Items folder was just hidden from view, as I don't think a user can delete their Deleted Items folder. Here's a KB for the fix: Contacts or other default folder hidden, but shortcut works with Open in New Window Article ID: 924226
(http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B924226&x=12&y=12). In short, you need to change the PR_ATTR_HIDDEN value for the hidden folder, which in your case is the
    Deleted Items folder.

  • Outlook 2013 Deletes mail older than 30 days in deleted items folder

Environment: Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2007 (fully patched)
One user has an issue where only 30 days worth of email is maintained in the deleted items folder. Every day, any email sent to deleted the previous day, will be gone.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
Outlook itself doesn't auto-delete anything. It could be something that's automatically being done by the server.
Let's first check the behavior on Outlook Web App (OWA), and see if issue persists.
If issue repro's on OWA, then it's something on Exchange server side, I would suggest you post the question in
Exchange server forum for further assistance.
If issue doesn't repro on OWA side, it might be something on Outlook client side that deletes emails from the trash. For this scenario, I would suggest you first check if he/she has
AutoArchive configured for the deleted folder which might delete messages older than a certain period of time.
Please feel free to post back with any findings.
