Events Spanning Midnight.....

Events which cross midnight from one day to the next are not shown on the second day. It used to work with the previous versions...??

I'm seeing this too, but not for all spanning events.
I have 2 separate calendars to keep track of the schedules of people working in our network operations center. Every day there are events that go from either 10pm to 10am or 4pm to 4am the next day. The 10-10 schedules are in one calendar, the 4-4 schedules are in another schedule. Sometimes the 10-10 event doesn't span to the next day. Sometimes the 4-4 event doesn't span to the next day.
I checked the first 2 weeks of December, and here's the events which spanned or not.
12/1: 10-10 event event: spanned, 4-4 event: spanned
12/2: 10-10 event event: did not span, 4-4 event: did not span
12/3: 10-10 event event: spanned, 4-4 event: spanned
12/4: 10-10 event event: spanned, 4-4 event: spanned
12/5: 10-10 event event: spanned, 4-4 event: did not span
12/6: 10-10 event event: did not span, 4-4 event: spanned
12/7: 10-10 event event: spanned, 4-4 event: spanned
12/8: 10-10 event event: spanned, 4-4 event: did not span
12/9: 10-10 event event: did not span, 4-4 event: did not span
12/10: 10-10 event event: did not span, 4-4 event: spanned
12/12: 10-10 event event: spanned, 4-4 event: did not span
12/13: 10-10 event event: did not span, 4-4 event: spanned
12/14: 10-10 event event: spanned, 4-4 event: spanned
I also publish these two calendars on a WebDAV server, and when I subscribe to the calendars using another calendaring application (Sunbird), all of the spans work except for the 4-4 event on 12/2/07.

  • ICal events spanning midnight

My work shifts often span midnight. If I enter an event spannng midnight in iCal on my iMac, it shows up on my iPod as two events, both with the same start and finish times, but on successive days, the day of the event itself and the day afterwards.

I'm seeing this too, but not for all spanning events.

  • How to stop events that span midnight from displaying on 2 days

Somewhere around SnowLepoard iCal's default behavior changed. It used to be that If an event spanned midnight (e.g. 7p-7a) then in the Month view it would only show up on the day the event started.
Now in Lion, it produces a colored bar that spans both days with 'ends 7am' on the right hand side of the bar in the second day. In Month view this is annoying and clutters the display when you have several consecutive events that span midnight e.g. three 7p-7a events in a row.
How can I get the old behavior back without editing events as many of them are from calendar subscriptions?

I work the same kind of shift, one that spans all night. Mine show with the start time on the correct day and another one for the end time on the next day.

  • Events not appearing across event-spanning days in ip 3gs

    Can you help pls
I have a 3gs syncing via excange server. seems generally ok but events spanning several days do not appear in the iphone - just the start entry (eg in an event spanning 5 days, just appears in iphone on first day). The full event does appear on teh wbe or exchange version correctly, and the event itself, although not appearing in teh individual days correctly, is correctly entered - if I try to edit the event on iphone it does appear as a 5 day event.
Any ideas please - or wheer can I get help?

  • Events spanning several days

    Hi there,
When I'm adding an event spanning several days (eg a holiday) the dot on month view only displays on the start date. This is quit unhelpful when quickly looking at whether I'm free on a particular day.
Am I missing something? Should I be using the repeat event function rather than extending the event date over several days?
    thanks,
    Sam

    Hi there,
While 'All days' may solve some of those problems, you loose the time information on those events, so it is not usefull for events that go from 3 pm on one day until 5 pm three days later...
There should be a Preference Option to display events over several days in a Month view as an extended bar. I would desperately need this feature especially for calendars that are only imported via subscription... and there it is not possible to 'edit' events and 'All days' events are often not a choice.
Also would be great if there would be a Year View ! (Apple are you listening ?)
If anybody knows of any 'workaround' I would be happy to hear it!
    Cheers,
    Matthias

  • Events that span midnight now display on the next day??

Night shifts that go from 11pm-7am from an Exchange calendar used to display on the 1st day on my iPhone 3GS. On iPhone 4, those events display on the 2nd day (i.e., the end date). Anybody find a workaround to get them to display on the start date?

I work the same kind of shift, one that spans all night. Mine show with the start time on the correct day and another one for the end time on the next day.

  • Calendar is creating an extra event when the event spans the week view end of week to beginning of next week.

When I create an event in Calendar that goes from Saturday to Sunday, like my work shift that starts at 5:30 pm and ends at 3:30 am the next day, the event gets duplicated onto the next day but is seen as a single event. So if I delete the one on Sunday it deletes the Saturday one as well. But visually there are two separate events. This happens when spanning work weeks. I first noticed it because my week view was set to start on Sundays. All of my Saturday shifts were duplicated onto the Sunday. It seemed to be okay only when I switched the week to start on Mondays. But then I just went to create an extra shift I picked up on Sunday and now it's there on Monday as well.

Ive reset, restored and this is the second phone. Thought it maybe a wonky screen that would shift it while setting dates. THe only thing I can think of is that I am syncing with google calendar, but it only happens when setting events in ios not if i do it from google website on desktop PC.

  • Events Spanning Multiple Days

I'm converting to iCal from another application I've used for years. Does iCal support any way to insert and display a line, banner, bar, etc. accross multiple days in the Month View so that I can display the fact that I'm on the road or on vacation, etc. for the days covered by the line, banner, bar, etc?
I would be happy to provide a picture of what the application I've been using does to support this need.

    Regal909,
Is this what you are looking for? Creating an all-day or multi-day event:You can create an event that lasts one or more complete days (for example, for a vacation), or an event that spans multiple days with different start and end times.
To create an all-day event, make sure you're in Day or Week view, then double-click in the white area at the top of the iCal window (just below the date). If you want your all-day event to last multiple days, drag a corner of the event across the days in the main calendar view (or type the end date in the Info drawer).
To create a multi-day event, make sure you're in Day or Week view, then drag from the start time to the end time of the event (you can drag across multiple days). You can also type the start and end dates and times in the event's Info drawer.
All-day events are shown across the top of the day in the main calendar view.

Tip: You can also make any event an all-day event by selecting the "all-day event" checkbox in the event's Info drawer.;~)

  • Some all-day events span 2 days

I've noticed a weird anomaly in the syncronized Calendar of my Sony Ericsson W850i.
*some* of my sync'd Birthdays and All-day events are spanning 2 days, from 23:00 the previous day and finishing 22:59 on the actual day on the event.
    e.g.
Pat's Birthday on March 23 in iCal appears on the phone calendar as -All Day-
Zoe's Birthday on March 28 in iCal appears on the phone calendar as
    27thMarch @ 23:00> Zoe's Birthday and finishes 28thMarch @ 22:59
if I try and ammend the phone entry, iSync spits its dummy and says
Warning • Changing all-day events on the phone is not allowed. These changes have been ignored: Zoe's Birthday, 03/28/2007
Whats strange is that its not happening to ALL my all-day events, this example is Birthdays (which is a read-only calendar) but its also doing it with other all-day events in different sync'd calendars (spanning them over 2 days and starting 23:00 finishing @ 22:59)

This issue is common to all Sony Ericsson phone and is mentioned on the Support page here:
    http://mobile.feisar.com/plugin_support.html#cal
Basically, its because the clocks change at the end of March, and therefore the Daylight Saving setting is incorrect in your phone for events AFTER the clocks change.

  • Display of events spanning several days

    Hello,
When I create an event (all day) in Outlook spanning several days, after syncing the iPhone shows the entry on every single day.
When I do the same with an appointment which is not "all day" (let's say Friday 17:00 - Sunday 15:00) the iPhone only displays the moment of the start. Is that a bug, desired behavior? Any chance to configure it so that I see the starting point plus an entry for each day that is involved?
    TIA!!

I suspect it's a glitch. When I create an event in Outlook as you suggest (today at 1p to Saturday at 6p, for example), I see it on the phone as spanning that whole time, i.e. the event fills part of today, all of tomorrow, and part of Saturday. However, I'm not syncing via iTunes but over-the-air with Exchange.
If you can reproduce this, definitely let Apple know.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Time Entries Spanning Midnight

I'm hoping someone has experience with the concept of employees starting a shift and having that shift span over midnight. The issue I'm really running into is the overtime calculation. If the employee clocks in and never clocks out until the end of their shift, overtime calculates correctly.
But we have groups of employees that start their shift the night of one day and stop it the morning of the next and these employee may clock in/out for lunch or breaks throughout this shift - these breaks can land all on one day, across the two days etc. For example: Clock in 2200 / out 0130, back
in at 0200 / out (end of shift) 0700. When this occurs, overtime does not
calculate correctly due to the break in time. I have tried setting up a shift that pretty much spans a 24 hour period, but that still didn't help.
We can't do the auto deduct logic due to policy restrictions.
If you have any advice or experience in dealing with this, I'd greatly appreciate any feedback! Thanks in Advance!
    Stacey

    Hi,
I had similar problems earlier. The approach I took was to break the entries at mid-night. So if the person clocks in at 2200hrs and checks out next day morning at 0600 hrs, I calculated 2400-2200 = 2 hrs for today & 0600-0000 = 6 hrs for tomorrow.
The calculation of break time would go similarly. Identify & and make exception if break starts on one day & ends on another.
Total Hours worker - Hours spent during break would be your net working hours.
This can then be used for overtime calculation using the daily and/or weekly overtime policy (used in timecard explosion calculation).
Solution would be slightly complex but is achievable.
    Thanks,

  • Events past midnight, now showing up with start time on BOTH days.

If you have an event on one day that goes past midnight, iCal now puts the event on both days with the same start time on both days.  How do I stop this and have it only show the start time on the First day (like it did before Mountain Lion)?

    Hi -
Thanks for doing that. I clicked on the annotations, nothing happened, was I supposed to see additional stuff or are they just markers? I just see text balloons now.

As far as the filter, I am just using the built in filter to FCE.
OK, so you are basically replicating the clip on V1 on V2 and applying a blur, then using the crop tools to constrain the blur to the area that you wanted blurred - so that the blur is the only visible part of V2, the rest of V2 has been cropped transparent and is just showing through to V1 below?
OK, click on V3 and type Control - B to temporally hide the clip. Does the effect work for masking the first ID, all through the clip?
Now click on V3 again and type Control - B to re-enable the clip so that it is visible.
So on V3 you replicated the clip on V1 to V3, and applying a blur, then using the crop tools to constrain the blur to the area that you wanted blurred - so that the blur is the only visible part of V3, the rest of V3 has been cropped transparent and is just showing through to V1 and V2 below?
If you did it that way - should work.
Let me know if I don't understand what you are doing.
    thanks

  • Make multiday event span multidays in Month view

    Hi all,
New Macbook user here, trying to organise iCal.
If I have an event, starting on Friday, going on Saturday and and finishing Sunday, is it not possible to get this to show in the month view?
I know it shows up in the weekly view, but it would be more helpful for me to have it up show up like this so I can get an overview of the month's forthcoming events.
Or if it, are there any mods/addons etc that can enable this?
    thanks!
    MR G

    MR G,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
My iCal shows the multi-day event in the month view.
Have you checked the "all-day" selection in the info window?

  • All day events spanning two days

I have a Nokia 6300 that I'm syncing with iCal but when I have an all day event in iCal it comes in as a timed event on the phone that runs from 13:00 on one day and then ends 13:00 the following day. Whereas if I add an all day event on the phone then it transfers into iCal perfectly ok. Any ideas?

In the UK we're actually at GMT +1 hour to account for BST.

Try setting your phone to that instead and see what happens.

  • Calendar events spanning multiple days

    Hi,
For events lasting multiple days, is there a way edit the calendar package so that it displays the event each day from the start to end date?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The values(EVENTS) would anyway appear if there are entries in the table on which you are creating the calendar for e.g.
    EVENT-1 01-JAN-02
    EVENT-1 02-JAN-02
    EVENT-1 03-JAN-02
    EVENT-2 04-JAN-02
Create the calendar and order by the date field and the data should appear ..
Pl. could you explain further what exactly you want to display.
You can also restrict the calendar display by using the start and end month option.
    Thanks,
    Anu
