Ever since I upgraded to 4.0, the welcome tab will not stop opening. It's getting rather annoying.
The welcome tab for the new 4.0 will not stop opening every time I open my browser. Each time I open Firefox two tabs open, the welcome page for the new 4.0 and my home page. I updated some time ago and this welcome page is becoming quite annoying. How do I stop it from opening? In the past, it has stopped after the first time I open Firefox following an update.
Thank you for the reply. I have Google set as my homepage, and that's the only homepage listed in the Options box. I tried restoring to default, but when I opened again, the 4.0 page and Google opened again. That leads me to think it might be options, but that article meant absolutely nothing to me.
What I find strange is that when I have one Firefox window open, then open another Firefox window, only the Google page opens, not the "get to know 4.0" page.

Google Chat still works on the page, but I cannot access any message and the window does not refresh to show new messages. I am on Windows XP SP3 and have not seen any issues until the upgrade to FF 16.0.2 last week. I also have not installed any new software nor have I made any changes to my internet security software. I can access Gmail through IE8 and on my phone so it is not a Gmail issue.
If it happens again then try these steps:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc. -

~AmyOnly your bank can tell you why your login is being rejected. Apple doesn't have acces to their servers. Are you certain you have the correct login credentials?
If so, make sure Keychain isn't loading an old password by deleting the password entries for your bank from your login keychain in Keychain Access. -
Since I upgraded to Maverick when computer sleeps it will not wake up but must be restarted? Also password to icloud is never saved?
I read someone said you can tap on "other" when selecting which wifi you connect to and then entering the exact wifi name of the network you wish to join and the password and then joining that network allowed the password to be saved. Also with iOS 6 the minimum length of the password needs to be 8 characters. Maybe you password on your router is less than 8 characters long

AAfter upgrading to IOS 8.1, the activity icon on the status bar will not stop rotating. It's like the webpage never completely downloads. Any suggestions?

You would think that it must have some effect on the battery, but oddly enough, the update to iOS 8 actually helped my battery life, in spite of all of these hinky little issues that are taking place. In my experience, the activity icon is not affecting the battery in a negative way.
Another issue with IOS 8.1 that you may have seen is the loss of icon pictures on home pages. Again it seems to be Safari related, since app icons found in the App Store are not affected, only web based icons you personally put on home pages. I get what I call a test screen similar to what you used to get on old tv sets on every one of my personal icons.
I know exactly what you mean. I got that as well. On a few of them, when I opened the websites using the generic test screen icons and then closed them, they changed back to the way that they should look. For the ones that did not change, I recreated the home screen shortcuts and deleted the generic looking ones - the test screen icons.
And don't get me started on iBooks.
For the very limited use that I make of the iBooks app, i haven't noticed any problems, but I rarely use the app. I don't read books on the iPad other than a few user guides and if they are pdf guides, they reside in more reliable and feature rich pdf apps on my iOS device.
I wish that I had the fix for the spinning activity icon, but everything that I try, is temporary at best. IMO, this is the buggiest iOS update that I have seen, and I have been using iOS devices since iOS 3 on my first iPad. I realize that there are plenty of people that are not experiencing issues, but I have seen a number of weird things that I wish I could fix. None of my problems are major, but they are annoying. -
My Ipod 4th Gen will not turn on. When I hook it up to the computer I get the ITunes symbol and the usb device on the screen of the Ipod. When I go to restore the Ipod it will not restore. I am getting unknown error code 6.

I have 2 seperate airport express systems on my network, each connecting to a stereo in a different room. suddenly, the one in the living room will not stop flashing amber, but the one in the bedroom works fine. I have already tried resetting it with a pin, resetting it while plugging it in, and trying to find it in airport express setup (the setup assistant can't find it at all).
What am i doing wrong?How do I configure the AX to connect to the hub's wireless network? It will only scan one base station Airport Express at a time in the Airport Utility. I think what I am trying to do is use the hub as a router to the two AX's. Is there a specific way to set this up?
To set up the AX to join a wireless network as a "Wireless Client," using the AirPort Utility, either connect to the AX's wireless network or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
Launch the AirPort Utility.
Select the AX.
If not already connected to the AX's wireless network, go ahead and switch to it when prompted.
AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
Network Name: <type in the network name/SSID of the wireless network that you want to join or select it from the pop-up menu>
Wireless Security: None OR, if you are using security on your wireless network:
Wireless Security: <Select the appropriate level of security for the existing wireless network: WPA/WPA2 Personal | WPA2 Personal>
Password: <enter your wireless network security password>
Verify Password: <re-enter the same security password>
Click Update to write the new settings to the AX. -
ever since I upgraded to ios 7, my battery life is very short. I do not use the ipad all that much and have to charge it twice as much as before. I have been on the phone to Apple 3 times and turned off a number of things that I am not using and now power it off more regularly but still not happy with battery life. It is less than a year old and as I said, I don' t use it all that much
My best bet would be to restore the phone. Back it up to itunes, and then reset it Factory settings. This way, any corrupt software will be removed, and you can start fresh. Make sure you back it up first. By the sounds of it, you are using the phone for business and probably need the data from it. Hope this helps!

Under the Mailbox drop down it is the last option. Just select a mailbox first before going to the Mailbox menu.

I am looking for some help on several matters related to my upgrade to OS X Mavericks this week. THIS issue is one related to CALENDAR.
I believe that I have done everything (as instructed) to install, activate, and sync contacts and calendars via iCloud - immediately following my upgrade to Mavericks earlier this week. When I opened CALENDAR for the first time - from the Dock on my computer (not the iCloud calendar) - after upgrading to Mavericks and setting up iCloud - CALENDAR provided a pop-up notification stating "Moving calendars to server account..." with a moving "candy cane" progress bar.
This has been "updating" for about 12 hours, now. And while open and "updating" - it will not allow ANY other commands, scrolling, or menu options. Additionally, I am unable to close this calendar of the Mac, unless I 'Force Quit'. I have, in fact, executed Force Quit, and restarted the Mac. No change... it still "updates".
When I open the iCloud calendar - it opens and works (mostly). There are events on my iPhone 5 that are not on the iCloud calendar. And there are events on the iCloud calendar that are not on my iPhone. I have created new calendar events on each calendar account (iCloud on my Mac and iPhone 5) - and they seem to automatically update each device. There does not seem to be any obviously rationale for the inconsistency of the calendar (iCloud and iPhone).
Can you offer ideas for possible solutions to:
1) the "permanently updating" calendar from the Dock on my Mac?
2) ensure that all events are properly synced across all calendar accounts (and devices)?

The perpetually updating scroll-bar-of-death continued for about a week.
I DID (finally) get resolution from the Genius Bar in my local Apple Store. They deleted all prior "local" calendar back-ups and content - as I had my Calendar up on iCloud - which essentially "reset" the calendar function... and then reloaded the calendar, and then pulled in my calendar data from iCloud.
They twisted and tweaked a few more things that I was not able to follow (sorry I cannot offer more assistance on these other things).
They also reloaded Mavericks.
Everything seems to be working well now.
Apple Community... any more guidance for Phil - and others???

The first tab will not close, and often does not load all of a page.
When I open firefox, the first tab always has 'search bookmarks and history' in the address bar, instead of the url of my homepage, and it will not close.
While trying to figure out a solution, I removed my themes and I closed the tabs I could, then clicked on the new tab button, doing so changed my original tab into an (Untitled) tab and created a new (Untitled) tab. I then found I couldn't close either tab, I clicked on new tab again, got a third (Untitled) tab, which again I couldn't close. I then closed Firefox choosing not to save. This appears to have fixed the problem; however I do not know which of the above action(s) resolved it.
