Ever since i upgraded to mountain lion, my macbook pro is really really slow
ever since i upgraded to mountain lion, my macbook pro (17" 2010 intel i7 4GB ram) is really really slow, specially at start up and shut down. any solution?
my hard drive is has about 200 GB free space, and i do regular varification for my drive. i almost regret upgrading to mountain lion :-(
Depending on the software you use (and how many programs you use at once) you may need to add more RAM. Shutdown with 10.8.2 is noticably longer than Lion's shutdown (and even slower than the original release of 10.8). I suggest you reboot your computer and immediately launch Activity Monitor. You want to watch two things: 1) RAM - as you use the computer over the next couple of hours after the reboot are you seeing the Page Out number increasing pretty quickly? That would be an indication that your computer is quickly using up RAM and pushing software and data into Virtual Memory to make room. This could account for the slow computer. 2) CPU - unless you are running some heavy duty software, your CPU usage may spike close to 80-90% for a few seconds but mostly hover in the 20-40% range. If it is higher than that, or if you see a single process using more than 70% constantly you may have a rogue process that is dragging the computer down.

I have been asked to set up an Icloud account by Apple.
How will having another icloud email benefit me. I have my work email which is all i require, but had to set up a @me account to get email on my Macbook.
I have a Mac computer that i upgraded to Mountain lion, a macbook pro and an iPhone 4s which has the latest software. all i want is simplicity and to have one email account which which will not duplicate everything 4 or 5 times.
My notes are duplicated, i have to delete my emails individually on all devices so whenever i put my phone on, all the emails i have deleted at work re-appear on my phone and again the same thing happens on my Macbook pro. I seem to spend all my time deleting emails 3 times.
Is there something simple in the set up of these that i am missing?

I upgraded to Mountain Lion on Macbook Pro today which I bought new three weeks ago, on the upgrade my Ethernet connection is no working, Any ideas on a fix on this issue.

If you bought the MBP new 3 weeks ago, it should have come with Mountain Lion already installed. Did you update your MBP to the newly released 10.8.4 update? If not, what OS were you running before the upgrade, and what version of Mountain Lion do you have now? -

Logic Pro and Upgrade to Mountain Lion/New MacBook Pro
At some point in the near future, I plan on buying one of the new MacBook Pros (non-retina display). I currently have the mid-2009 model, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 15-inch, 4 GB of RAM. Not this is terrible, but I would like to take advantage of the increased processing power with newer MacBook Pros because I constantly use Logic Pro for many different projects.
My question is, how do I make a smooth transition from one piece of hardware to the next? For many of the audio files and such that make up all of the different instruments in Logic Pro, I'm not even completely sure where they are all installed. Some files are in one directory, some are in others. Not to mention plug-ins and things of that nature. Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, connection speed is fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN. My current location is Shanghai, China. I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal. I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8. Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved. Here is the steps sent to me

ThanksTake each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Some of these steps are only possible if you have control over the wrieless router.
Step 1
Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
Step 2
Restart the router and the computer. Many problems are solved that way.
Step 3
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
Step 4
Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
Step 5
In OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and fix the issues listed in the Summary, if any.
Step 6
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.

I resolved this problem with the latest Adobe Flash Player. I don't know why it didn't tell me that in the first place.

Hi...I have this problem, everytime I want to print something out the mac asks me for the computer password...that is really becoming annoying after. That happened since I upgraded to mountain lion. How can I stop the computer from asking me that?
If you are printing via a Windows shared printer and it is the Windows user account that you are being prompted for then you can save this in the Keychain, as shown below.

Very frequent Time Machine corruption since I upgraded to Mountain Lion
Since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I encounter very frequent Time Machine corruption.
A few backups are OK, and then, I get an error "Time Machine has verified your backups and needs to create a new copy in order to enhance fiability...".

Everything has been working perfectly well on OSX Lion for months...
I already have reselected my Time Machine volume, and already have accepted a full new backup (3 times !) and it always finish like this...
Any idea ?I had the same general problem: every few minutes I would get the message "There was a problem connecting to the server 'myserver'. Contact your system administrator for more information."
The problem went away for me when I reset the sync server.

Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
If you are using Safari to view YouTube content, with Safari open, press Command + Option + E to empty the Safari cache.
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a video.
And make sure Allow all other plug-Ins is selected in Safari > Preferences > Security
As well as Allow Java.

Strange Character Showing on my PowerPC G4
Hello! After a re-start of my laptop, I discovered that all the fonts from option menu had been replaced by a lot of 'A', and such strange character is consisted of a capital 'A' within a square/box, it looks exactly like the letter 'A' fall out from
