Every email in inbox opens when I enter mail

My boss uses Apple mail. Every time he clicks on mail to enter the program, EVERY email in his inbox opens (hundreds) all over the desktop. This never happened before, and we don't know what caused the problem. Is there a setting we're missing? He simply wants to look at the inbox and click on emails ONE at a time, and have them open ONE at a time. Thanks. (I use Entourage so I don't have a working knowledge.)

I don't fully understand what are you talking about, but I believe holding the Shift key down until the main window appears when you open Mail would fix your problem.

- Have you tried resetting your iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Can you access the mail account(s) on another device and look for a problem email that may be causing the problem
- You could try deleting account(s) and recreating them

Does anyone have an answer to this problem? It's been 4 or 5 days now and iCloud still says I have 0kb of 5GB available, and 6.1GB of mail on iCloud. I guess that's better than yesterday when it said I had 8.3GB of mail. Does anyone know if it simply takes Apple a week to actually empty a mailbox?

Any way to identify emails that were open when Mail crashed?

Admittedly, I probably had too many emails sitting open (plus a bunch of open tabs in 3 different browsers).
Mail crashes, and I Force Quit.
When I reopen mail, a few emails do repoen, but the majority do not.
Is there any way of identifying which emails were open at crash time? It's sort of my to-do list. Admittedly, not the best way to go.
I'm on 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, MacBook Pro mid-2010.

Try Applications/Mail and see if Mail will open. If so, the Dock alias is corrupt. Command - click and hold and drag it from the Dock until you see a puff of 'smoke'. Then drag the copy from the Applications folder to the Dock to create a new alias.

Can't get email links to open in TenFourFox for Mail version 3.6.

I just switched to TenFourFox and I can't get my email links to open in it. I have changed the RSS setting numberous times, tried quiting mail, etc. and it keeps defaulting to Safari. Any suggestions.
Also, my email says that java pluggins need to be enabled. How?

i just fixed this on my machine running 10.6.8. the typical workaround is to add appropriate UUIDs, which get updated with each new os build, and break plugins (see here). Follow those instructions, but instead of adding the UUIDs they suggest for 10.6.7, add these (I found them on my machine running 10.6.8, and they work):

i emailed the author (aaron harnly, harnly.net) about this, but haven't heard back (a few days). to be sure, i am quite grateful, as i think we all are, for his excellent plugin, and this workaround is quite simple for dealing with updates.

Finder window always opens when I enter TM with Safari as active app

I want to recover some bookmarks I think I must have accidentally deleted in Safari, so I plug in the firewire drive I'm using with TM into my laptop and wait until the drive mounts on the desktop. I launch Safari and make sure it's the active application (it says "Safari" next to the apple in the menu bar at the top of the screen and I have a Safari window open). I make sure there are no other applications running and the finder has no open windows. I launch TM. A Finder window opens, and the default directory it opens to is my Desktop, unless I already have a finder window open to some other directory. This happens every time I launch TM so I can never actually use TM to recover my deleted bookmarks. So in other words I never have the option to restore anything in Safari. Interestingly, this problem does not occur when I launch TM with the Mail application as the active application. I thought I'd read that you can restore deleted Safari bookmarks with TM, but is it actually not designed to restore anything in the Safari app or is my TM simply malfunctioning? I have tried to get this to work numerous times, including after reboots and after running new TM backups.

Actually, this is normal behavior since Safari is not yet one the 'Time Machine Aware' applications. You are not going to easily be able to restore individual bookmarks. But you restore ALL of your bookmarks from any given backup. do the following:
First, quit Safari.
Go the the folder here...
/Users/<youruserfolder>/Library/Safari
Highlight the file labled bookmarks.plist.
While holding the "Option" key down, drag this file to the desktop. This will create a copy there in case you wish to return to this set of bookmarks later.
Now launch the Time Machine "time Travel" interface from the Dock.
Using the time scale on the right, navigate back to a date that contained the missing bookmarks.
Click "Restore" in the lower right.
Choose to replace your current set of bookmarks with this one.
Once completed, launch Safari and the restored bookmarks are available.
Later, you can drag the bookmarks file on the desktop back to the Safari folder to return to your previous set. Otherwise you can delete it.
Let us know if this resolve your issue.

Change email program that opens when clicking an email address in Safari?

Can I set Safari to open Microsoft Entourage as my default email program? Currently Safari always opens Eudora when I click on an email address. I found a place in Firefox to set it, but I can't find a place to set it in Safari. Safari Help was useless as usual.

Thanks. It didn't occur to me to open Mail, because I don't use it for my email. How many programs let you select their competitors? Usually they ask to be selected over their competitors. And the fact that I could set my preferred mail program within Firefox suggested that I should be able to do the same in Safari...

Email does not open when I click on it

when I left click on any e-mail nothing happens. The e-mail will not open. This only happens on my Mozilla Firefox account. How can this be corrected?

Unfortunately in order to clarify how you are accessing email, are you accessing email in webmail or Thunderbird?
Also, when you say it only happens with the Firefox Account, does this means it only happens when you have a sync account attached to the browser profile when you go to the webmail site and open an email? And if so, what email site does this happen on?

Are you entering your Existing Email Address for which you have Access and also are you Entering the Password which Matches Apple Requirement ?
Enter the Email Address that you already have (like Gmail, Yahoo, MSN, Live, etc) but you have never used it for creating Apple ID before.
Passwork Requirement is Minimum 8 Characters, Alpha Numeric and Password should Content atleast 1 Upper Case and 1 Lower Case Letter. You will find the more detail on the same page when Creating Apple Id and iTunes will give you Error if the Password you enter does not match their requirement.

Links in emails unable to open when clicked

Hi, I'm having a rather difficult time opening links in emails. I have tried all but this route so far to get to the bottom of this issue. I figure it must be a security issue and noticed it happening since all websites I visit are now
"https" and since that began months ago slowly I'm unable to now open links within emails. I have tried to delete the "s" on some sites only for there to be more conflicts and most won't open for me. This site is unavailable

I am receiving emails, but nothing opens when I click the email icon

When I click the email icon, a blank email screen pops up for about 10 seconds, then shuts down and goes back to the main screen. I have restarted the iphone, closed the applications and even checked my emails online. Nothing seems to be working. Any Ideas?

Do a reset, hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for your phone to boot back up. then check the emails.
