Every night at 7pm CST/midnight GMT, Firefox closes with no error message, or warning message. All add-ons have been disabled. Running Win7 with Firefox.

I have already disabled all ad-ons, one at a time (11 total) to see if any of them caused the error. None did. I have already checked all programs, including antivirus to see there was a timed action that was triggering the shut down. When it does shut down, I receive no error messages or warnings about muliti-tab shutdown. Every time, Firefox simply closes. When I re-open Firefox, I do not receive the option (which I have set) to restore my tabs. No other programs are affected. I am happy to provide any more information, just let me know what you need. The Troubleshooter data below is from 1.5 hours after the most recent Firefox shutdown.

I have '''exactly''' the same problem as you do, and it also happens in other browsers as well (I use Internet Explorer and Google Chrome too).
Most of the times, the restore previous session option is grayed out, but other times it automatically asks me if I want to restore the previous session. When I click 'Yes', it restores all the tabs of the previous session alongside a new one, open in the following site: http://krzemik.pl/
The site is Polish, but I don't even live in Poland.
The site says it's safe, but I'm suspicious it distributes some kind of adware that causes this problem. I've already reported it, though.
I also have another problem that, whenever I search for something that contains the word 'virus' on a search engine, the browser is automatically shut within 1 or 2 seconds without any kind of warning or error message, I also can't open one of my antispyware programs (AdAware, to be exact), as it is immediately closed as if I had clicked the 'X', per say, even in Safe Mode. I'm also prevented from using my backup restore function in the control panel, or even using commands to activate it. I've fully scanned my computer in Safe Mode using another antispyware (SuperAntispyware) twice, and nothing as solved the problem.
I'm not sure if these problems are interconnected, though.

I have been using firefox aurora 7 for mac. Most of my handful of add-ons have been disabled -- including Read It Later and Feedly, which I was making good use of. Can you tell me when they will be enabled for firefox aurora 7? Maybe I should go back to firefox 6

You can use the Tab key to select a search engine on the bottom bar and press Enter to use the search engine to do the search.
In the current Firefox 34 release there is a new "one-off" search bar.
This search bar doesn't show the name of the search engine and a logo.
You can type one letter to make a drop-down list appear where you can see suggestions and see the used search engine and that also has bar at the bottom where you can select other search engines that are enabled via the Search tab in Options/Preferences.
You can use the Tab key to select one of the other available search engines and press the Enter key to search with the selected search engine.
Click the search engine icon and click "Change Search Settings" to open the Search tab in Options/Preferences (positioned between Tabs and Content) to select the default search engine and select which search engines to show in the search bar drop-down list that opens when you start typing search terms.

  • How do you uninstall Firefox 5.0? seven of my add-ons have been disabled

Just upgraded to 5.0 and too many of my add-ons are not compatible. How can I get back to 4.0?

If an extension worked in Firefox 4.0, it should be working in Firefox 5.0 as well -- [http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/2011/05/21/firefox-5-compatibility-bump/ Firefox 5 Compatibility Bump]
You can force 5.0 "compatibility" with the "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Compatibility Reporter]" extension, or with [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions.checkCompatibility extensions.checkCompatibility] using about:addons.
When you reinstall a different version, at the end of the install, don't let the install start Firefox for you, rather exit, and then start Firefox in the normal manner to avoid inadvertently creating and using a new profile without your bookmarks, etc.
If you think your only alternative is going back to 4.0 or 4.0.1 you can get it at Firefox [ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ releases] (all releases, including 4.0.1 and 5.0).

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

  • How do I know which add-ons have been validated as safe? When clicking "Add to Firefox" I get the scary warning window about only using add-ons from trusted

The scary warning that appears when I click "Add to Firefox" for a certain add-on discourages me from actually installing it.
"Install add-ons only from authors whom you trust. Malicious software can damage your computer or violate your privacy . . . (author not verified)"
In particular, I'm interested in the Password Exporter add-on. I want to be especially cautious as this will access all my passwords stored in Firefox. How do I actually know if an add-on is safe or not?

If you are talking about "Password Exporter 1.2.1", it's safe as I have been using that add-on for years and love it.

Also check the settings in your security software.
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Anytime I run a Flash game, Firefox closes! I have updated all add-ons and extentions, disabled Adobe DLM and went through the suggestions to fix this issue. NOTHING WORKS! What do I do?

The game I am trying to play is on Facebook. The internet and other sites work as normal, but when I load a flash game the game begins for about 30 seconds and then freezes and firefox shuts down. I have used INTERNET EXPLORER and the games loads fine. This issue is with firefox plugins, extensions, add-ons...or whatever. I don't know what to do to get this to work properly.

Thank you so much, for once in my computer life I knew what the problem was, what caused it, why it was caused, what it did, what it made it do and most importantly how to fix it and to do it correctly and expeditiously. I can not Thank You all enough for all of the help! I also have Pogo mailed this to all on my friends list, where they have all learned as I have and have fixed theirs also. and the message is being spread. Thank You again, I just can not say it enough.

Updated Firefox to latest version and disabled or deleted all add-ons. Still get Crash Reporter.
Firefox DOES open in Safe Mode.

Restored Firefox to its Default State.

  • Is there a way to see which of my add-ons will be disabled when I install Firefox update?

I have recently returned to Firefox after a long absence. The reason I stopped using it in the first place is that every time I got all the add-ons that I wanted, there would be a new update and I'd lose some or all of them and I wasn't interested in having some/all of my useful functions disabled until who knows when or forever.
I've currently got automatic updates turned off, and that is where they will stay unless I can verify that the add-ons are backwards compatible or there is an update for the add-on.
Is there a way to see what current add-ons will be disabled with an update?

Yes, during the update there is a list of add ons that come up that will not be added when you update. You can cancel the update if it lists one that you do not want to no longer use.
The block list is also here: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/]

  • How to view all add-ons in a category at the Firefox add-ons section

When I browse for add-ons within a chosen category, only a few special-featured add-ons appear. Below this are samples of "top rated" "new" etc. add-ons in ALL categories and these have a "browse all top rated" or "...all new" but I can find no option to browse all add-ons in the CHOSEN CATEGORY...how can I get to the pages of allo add-ons within the chosen category and not just the special featured ones???

Wow, I didn't notice that change because I usually search for addons. It seems that every time they update the Addons website immediately before a Firefox major version release, they remove some important or useful function. Looks like Mozilla managed to screw it up worse than it was before.
The support forum for that part of the Mozilla websites is here: <br />

  • Firefox 3.6 freezing / hanging most of the time. All add-ons disabled. Cache and cookies cleared. Help!

Firefox 3.6 freezing / hanging most of the time. All add-ons disabled. Cache and cookies cleared. Help!
Examples: Freezes for about 20 seconds every launch. Freezes quiting. Freezes switching tabs. Freezes clicking links.

Note that such issues can be caused by security software that blocks Firefox and possibly isn't initialized when you get (got) this issue.
So if it happens again then try to remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Now my FF 9.0.1. The problem was with version 8.0. With FF 7.0, everything was fine.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.
    See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button (in Firefox 4: right-click the extension -> "Find Updates") to do a compatibility check.
