Every other column of pixels sometimes turns white

For the last few weeks, I have had an intermittent display problem where every other column of pixels turns white. It happens nearly once/day, and can last for several hours, or just flicker a few times. I typically use the 1440x900 resolution, but when this error occurs, it's visible at all screen resolutions, and is unaffected by changing screen brightness, closing/reopening the lid, and restarting the machine. It has occurred on first opening the lid in the morning when the machine is quite cool. The error does NOT show up on an external monitor, which I assume means the video card is not at fault, and it's not a driver issue.

This computer is not covered under warranty. Any suggestions as to how to fix this would be appreciated. I'm reasonably handy, so if there's something internal that needs tightening/checking, there's a chance that I could do it without losing any screws in the process. Thanks.

I wouldn't write this off yet as not being a GPU issue...
if not, then it's either the cable or the display panel itself. there isn't an inverter board to buy for the LED lit screens, just a backlight driver board. Looks like your backlight is working fine tho...

How can I sum every other column in the same row?

I have, for each employee, two columns: Planned and Worked.
I would like to sum the values in each Planned column. There are 25 employees, each with their own Planned and Worked columns, on the same row.
How can I do a SUM of every other column, starting with Planned?

The exact formula didn't work; however, it gave me a precise path to follow and come up with this: =SUMIF(E2:BB2,"=Planned",E3:BB3)

IPhone 5 is rebooting, showing error code on startup and turning white screen with black pixel edges.

My iPhone 5 yesterday began acting weird. Here's a list in order of what is happening.
Phone reboots randomly
Plugged phone into itunes, phone screen lower 3rd started dimming to black after I plugged it in. I unplugged it and it reboot.
Unlocked the phone later in the day and the screen began turning White and an edge of black pixels began forming on the edges of the screen. The phone kept heating so I know it was eating the battery. Got home plugged it into the wall socket and it started charging, batter was empty.
Phone's worked fine this morning
Phone did random reboot, but this time, code was visible in the upper left hand corder on the apple startup logo, it stalled here for two minutes and then finished loading.
Phone worked fine, , did the iOS 6.1.4 update.
Phone did random reboot again, this time the reboot vibrate held in vibration mode for 20 seconds.
Phone is now working fine.
Ah, should I bring it in?

Based on what you're describing, I'd say make an appointment at the genius bar and have them take a look at it. This sounds like a hardware problem.

This happens each and every time, on different Wifi networks, in different locations. On the other hand, I don't ever encounter this problem when I tether my laptop to my mobile phone's 3g/2g network using Personal Hotspot. How do I fix this?

Try this DNS server ...
Open System Preferences > Network > Advanced > DNS
Click + and type:
208.67.222.222
Click + again and do the same.
208.67.220.220
Click OK.

There is a cool tool in Coldfusion called MOD
This basically calculates the remainder of the row number
when divided.
I interpreted its use to something like this, which has
worked for me.

Current CC subscription turns into trial mode every other month... How to fix this once and for all?

Current my current always promptly paid CC subscription regularly turns into Trial mode. This means I can use Apps in trial mode (how nice...), ask me to get a paid subscription, and at the same time happily charges my credit card. This happens every other months. Then I have to discuss this with their agents, which usually takes days to weeks, because they don't know what's going on. How on earth can this be fixed one and for all?!

You sound like an Apple support guy who hasn't been able to answer my questions.
To respond to some of the points you made,
- I did not ignore Ocean20's suggestion. If you has read my post, you would have known that I took my phone to the apple service centre where they tried this restore on THEIR machines. I am assuming that Apple guys know how not to block iTunes. So I actually do not understand your point about me trying the hosts file changes on my machine. Do you not believe that apple tested this issue with the correct settings?
- you also give a flawed logic of why the issue is a hardware issue. You mentioned that If I thought that the issue was with the software, i should try a restore and getting it to work. The problem is that my error (23), and many others comes up when the restore fails. And you would be astonished to know that not all errors are hardware errors. Sometimes even software errors prevent restores. Funnily enough Apple itself mention that 'in rare cases, error 23 could be hardware related'.
- all Apple has done so far is replicate the issue. I don not know how anyone can conclude that the issue is a hardware issue.
And by the way, I am not certain that this is a software bug. Again if you read my Posts, you will notice I only want a confirmation,/proof that the issue is hardware related as they mention..

My ipad says it can't connect to the server although other in the house are able to. Sometimes turning it on and off seems to help. Other times you just have to keep trying.

KKbrummund, thank you for sharing your concerns about your Kin device. I understand that it can be frustrating having these issues with a new device. At this point, since the phone is able to access internet, but just can't connect to Windows Live, there may be a problem in the phone itself. We can submit a trouble ticket to our network team to see if there are any network issues causing this. Also, if you are within your 14 day worry free guarantee (this may be different for some indirect agent locations) you may want to try exchanging your device.

I was yellow/white at one point, blue at another time and sometimes the color behind the apple symbol. It got really HOT and i just let it die. When it was dead i put it on a charger. once it got charged up it started turning on with the apple symbol. then it turned white again and then restarted without me touching anything. When it restarted it turned the blue again. i took it off the charger immediantly because i didnt want it getting as hot as it was before. ive tried every way i know how to fix it but not putting it in the computer because i dont want it to ruin the computer. Please help because i really dont want to get a new ipod. Ive read a lot about how to fix it here on apple but there all the same answer and it still doesnt work. Please respond ASAP! thank you! i could really use your help right now!

First see if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
Next try DFU mode and restore.

OS X Mavericks: display randomly turning white/brown/grey [no resolution issues]

Hey folks,
I discovered a very strange problem the last few days while using the internal and an external VGA Monitor on my Macbook Pro (mid 2010, 8GB).
I'm running on OS X Mavericks with the latest updates and the system runs pretty smooth.
What I discovered is as follows:
Using any VGA monitor that I own, sometimes both (internal and external) display turn white (or grey or brown, just displaying a solid colored screen). This occurs with literally every display I used externally and doesn't occur while just using the Macbook Pro without an external display. This didn't happen before on Mountain Lion, neither did it happen the first weeks on Mavericks (I've been using it since it's released). After this happening, I have to do a forced reboot. This issue does occur randomly within the daily usage.
Furthermore, I don't have any resolution issues as many user claimed about this already while running OS X Mavericks.
From looking at the system I can tell that the RAM is not damaged (also because this doesn't happen while using the MB without external display). I also tried other RAM, issue remains reproducible.
I haven't found any solution on the internet, so I decided to post my problem here.
Hope there is anybody out there who might be able to help me out.

My screen keeps freezing and turning white

My MacBook keeps occasionally freezing and slowly turning white. Sometimes it reverts back to normal if I leave it but other times I have to wiggle the screen back and forth to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem?

I think I may be experiencing a similar problem. My screen display starts to shake, flickers, turns "pixelated," freezes, and slowly fades to white. Sometimes if I leave the computer alone it rides out the problem, or sometimes I restart it. But, that's only a temporary fix and it seems to be worsening. Let me know if you hear of a solution, and I'll let you know!

Whenever I attempt to watch a video of any sort full screen on Firefox my screen turns white but I can hear the video playing.

When viewing pics or videos in FireFox, when screen is enlarged to full screen, page turns white. While I can still hear audio, no picture. I have seen similar posting in problem questions, but solutions have all been closed out.

I have same problem when watching web video and going to full screen it turns white. Audio is still good. If I hit escape all goes back to viewing the video okay.
It occurs in Firefox 6.3 & 6.8.3, Internet Explorer 8, and Google Chrome. Windows Media Player WILL go to full screen okay.
I wished I could submit 2 pics: one of video and 1 of the white screen. But I can't so I'm just sending the white screen pic
