Safari 1.3.2 Not Accessing Some Secure Web Sites Including This One

Operating system is 10.3.9 running Safari 1.3.2 and today I couldn't access American Express or Apple Discussions web site. I had a lock up yesterday that forced me to do a hard reset. Funny thing is, Safari otherwise is running fine other than not accessing secure sites that I accessed just fine yesterday. FWIW, I am entering this info from a PC not my Mac...Any Ideas.

It's probably a corrupt Cache or Cookie item.
Do you know your user names & passwords for sites that require them?
If so, open Safari Preferences > Security.
Click on Show Cookies.
Click on Remove All.
Click on Done.
If you do not know your user name & PWs for sites, you will have to individually click on the cookies for the ones that are not opening, and delete them one by one.
Then from the Safari contextual menu, select Empty Cache.
Click on Empty.

This isn't a critical issue, but why do I get the message all the time on screen that my Firefox isn't up to date, and then when I check via the help button it shows that it IS up to date?

I have tried to solve the problem by downloading and reinstalling, to no avail. As I said, it doesn't cause a problem exactly, just a bit annoying!

Looking at your system details, you are running the latest version. You may see that message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. That page is no longer being maintained by Google.
You should try changing your home page to:
about:home
If you don't know how to change the home page, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].

I installed ML and I can only open "secure" sights including this one about 50% of the time. I have to close Safari and re-open.

When ML was up and running I could not open any secure https sites including this discussion room. I worked with Apple for hours and it seemed to work then quit again. I either have to close and reopen Safari a few times or restart the system/ Even then it is hit and miss.

I have deleted cache, repaired disk permissions, reset Safari, all to no avail. It works part of the time only when opening secure sites.

the mute button is a switch you need to flip, not touch. if you look at it and see color, its on.

You can also try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.

How to update site icons in the bookmarks without going to every site. This option is available in Maxthon

when I install fresh and sync my new firefox, I have 100's of bookmarks in categories. I would like to see an option to update site icons where firefox goes and get the icons for all my bookmarks.

hello daronwade, in order to automatically add the favicons to your synced bookmarks you can try to use the following extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/faviconreloader/
after installing the addon you have to initiate the scan for favicons once: press the alt-key to show the menu bar, go to the bookmarks and select the option to reload the favicons.

I cannot open pdf files from one supplier when using Adobe Reader but I can using another Viewer

I cannot open pdf files from one supplier when using Adobe Reader but I can open it if using Google PDF viewer or another viewer. The Adobe reader gives the error "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired" when I try to open the file. The version of Adobe Reader is 10.1.7, however I have tried other versions and they all fail the same way. I have tested on a number of different PC's in different networks and all fail using Adobe Reader but work using alternate viewer. Also the PC's will open a PDF from any other source.

Newer Reader versions are more strict than older versions (and other PDF viewers). If certain minimum requirements are not met, Reader will tell you that the PDF is damaged. This can happen when a document was created with software that does not adhere to PDF standards, or when the file was damaged during a download or email transmission.
You should contact the creator of these PDFs.

Ever since Firefox updated, I cannot view slideshows on websites. If I click the "Next" button to see the next slide in an article, nothing happens. Why is this? How can it be fixed? I've cleaered cache, done everything.

Firefox starts, but it does not allow me to type anything in the search bar or the web address bar. I have uninstalled and re-installed it already. Internet Explorer works fine. What can I do to fix this?

It was working last night. However, in the middle of me talking to a family member in the messenger box of facebook. It just wouldnt allow me to type anything anymore. I closed it and re-opened it, but it didnt allow me to restore my sessions. I tried it again today, and it worked for a few seconds, albeit very slowly. Now, it just wont work. It opens to the Firefox homepage, but it wont do anything else.
