Every time Firefox updates, I lose my Favorites tab for 24 hrs. What gives?

Yesterday I upgraded to Firefox 5 & when I looked at my homepage my Favorites tab (next to Bookmarks) had disappeared. This is the second time this has happened. It also occurred when I upgraded from 3 to 4. It re-appeared both times just about 24 hrs later.
THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.
Last time I was able to import the most important of my sites from IE (which still had my Favorites) to a folder that does not disappear. I used that access today for my crucial work, but I cannot store ALL my sites there.
PLEASE get this fixed. It is too inconvenient to go through this every time I upgrade Firefox!

Sorry, something you installed into Firefox added that Favorites menu item to the Menu Bar, or you don't have an official version of Firefox installed.
Please take a look at the Help > About Firefox window and see if there is anything about '''Yahoo''' and maybe '''''1.8''''' mentioned in that window.

You can uninstall (remove) the Java Console extensions and disable the Java Quick Starter extension, you do not need them to run Java applets.

Why do I lose my tab apps and tab groups every time firefox updates to a new version?

It seems like every time I get a new version of firefox my tab apps and groups disappear. Why does this happen and what can I do about it?

My settings are as described and have been for a long time and number of versions. However whenever there is a update to firefox everything goes, including app tabs and other opened tabs.
I think something should be done about this as it's very frustraighting to have to start again setting evverything up, and remembering everything I had pinned & open whenever there is an update.

Every time itunes updates, I lose my music and playlists

I am using an iPo Classic and Windows 8.
Lately, whenever iTune runs an update, it loses my whole music library and playlists.
The iTunes folder is also empty. This is very irritating! There is free software which very esil can restore my msuuc back from the Ipod, but I cannot find anywhere which can reinstall one's playlists in iTunes - and this is more of a mission ti recreate than simply re-importing all the musi
Does anyone know how to get one's playlists back from the Ipod?

The instructions do NOT involve manually deleting the Trusteer folder on the C drive. As this is a security related program it may not be surprising that it will try to prevent deletion of the folder.
You need to follow the correct uninstall instructions. If you have a problem with them then it is a Windows / Trusteer issue and you would be best asking them.
I do note their site now specifically lists firefox 30 as being supported.

Every times Itunes updates, I loses some music

I'm very unhappy with the apple products. I received as a gift an Ipod. it's the worst **** I ever receive: Using Itunes is less easy than every music software, very malicious. But the worst thing is the fact I lose music everytimes the software is updated. I even lose some music I bought on the iTunes store.You can count on me to tell that to every consumers who are thinking about buying your products. They are design but not easy to use. Plus, they are expensive. I would like to tell that to a responsible of that thing, please.

See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash. Backup your library routinely. Do you have AVG or McAfee antivirus? Both have been causing trouble for some users over recent months.

Firefox is running, but no windows/tabs are showing - what gives?

Firefox12, iMac i5, Snow Leopard 10.6.8, 16GB RAM, 2TB drive.
Firefox worked fine this morning. This afternoon, when it fires up, no windows/tabs show up ... just the menu.
I know that the windows are working - a video link that I clicked on in my Mail begins playing. I can hear it. Just can't see anything.
I've tried opening a new window - nothing happens. I've tried restarting after turning off all Add-ins. Same result.
Tried opening the FF prefs but nothing shows up. All I can see is the FF menu - nothing else shows up.
I've tried the History menu - to restore all tabs etc etc ... no difference. I can only see the menu.
This is so weird and I have no idea what to do.
Any suggestions/ideas??

That is weird. Do you maybe have a window minimized to the dock or in another space? Have you tried restarting the whole computer?

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.
It is possible that a website invalidates cookies when they detect a change in the user agent when Firefox is updated.
If that is the case then there is not much to do about this.

Every time Firefox sends an update my credit card web site loses my identity. Can this be fixed?

For security purposes, the website for my credit card information uses information from the Firefox browser to identify my computer. Every time Firefox sends an update, that identification is lost and I have to obtain an identity code and re-access my credit card website. This is a pain in the butt. The definite way to close Firefox is to '''Exit''' via '''File''' ('''Alt''' + '''F''') or the Firefox button on the top left. Please note that Firefox may take a few seconds to close completely, especially depending on the settings like emptying history. If Firefox takes an unusually long time you may have to try '''End Process''' for the '''plugincontainer.exe''', if present in the Processes tab of Task Manager.
PS: Not sure if what you mean is four Firefoxes in the Application tab or the Processes tab of Task Manager? If it is in the Processes tab then the issue could be malware and you may have to do a thorough malware check on the PC.

If I click on the one for yahoo, Firefox says UNRECOGNIZED.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Constant "Problem with Shortcut" Every Time iTunes updates

Sorry to vent, but this really bugs me.
Ok, this can't be hard to fix and isn't hard for ME to fix when I update iTunes, but this is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY annoying.
Here's the issue. Every time iTunes updates itself, it invalidates every Shortcut for the executable. I get "Problem with Shortcut" Windows Window and which says "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
This happens EVERYTIME iTunes updates itself, which seems very often.
It is really, really annoying. And it ONLY happens with iTunes (no other software - for example Firefox doesn't do this), which says to me that Apple can't be bothered to make sure that the path to their new executable is the same as the old when they do the update. Actually, now that I look at it, it looks like it is somehow deleting the path in the existing shortcuts when it updates, which sounds like a bug.
Any decent usability testing would find this and quickly fix this, but this happens on EVERY windows computer I have EVERY time iTunes updates itself, and it has been there for at least the last 5 upgrades, so I know it is not a 1 off thing only I am seeing.
Please, please, please fix this in your next patch.

Apple apps are the only ones I've ever seen on Windows to do this. I don't even understand how/why it happens - does it take the time to find all the shortcuts (which are separate files it would have to search your HD for) and deliberately break their paths?! If Apple are going to make windows applications, it'd be nice if they swallowed their pride and learnt the windows platform and its norms. 99.999% of other software vendors have figured out how to make shortcuts that work...
The worst thing about this is that the error message (admittedly, I think it's a windows message) gives the impression you have to reinstall iTunes! A quick Google search shows that a fair few people think that's the solution.
*If you're getting this problem: there's no need to uninstall or reinstall iTunes!* the problem is with the shortcut only, not the program. To fix it, find a working shortcut to iTunes (as mentioned above, there's normally a fresh one in your start menu somewhere) and drag it wherever you need it, then delete the old one. If you can't find a working one, browse to "program files"->"itunes" on your hard drive, select itunes.exe, go to File->Create Shortcut. A new shortcut will be made in that folder, that you can put wherever you like.
