Every time I open a page, multiple pages open.

Hi
Ever since upgrading to 10.7 Lion whenever I open a file be it in Pages or Numbers or even preview, the last few pages also open. I can't figure it out.
Normally I'll use finder or double cick a file on my desktop. How can I stop multiple pages from opening?

Number of recent items:
At the bottom, uncheck the box next to "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps".

The first run page keeps opening every time I open my home page, how do I turn it off?

When I first downloaded FF 4 on my netbook I got the first run, welcome to FF 4 screen. As usual. But it keeps coming back. Every time I open FF it opens the welcome screen in the first tab and in the second tab is my home screen.
If FF is already open and I want to open my home screen in another tab, it simultaneously the welcome screen in one tab and my home screen in another.
I will not upgrade the rest of my machines to either FF4 or 5 until this is fixed.

The "Better Privacy" help page opens as a separate tab every time I open Firefox. I close it, but it keeps coming back, usually when I go to another site (by clicking a link or using a bookmark) and at seemingly random intervals while I'm browsing.

Unterminated string literal error every time firefox opens a page.

Every time firefox opens a new page, the error pops up. It says Javascript error at the top of the error window - and the error is "unterminated string literal. It very annoying, some pages have multiple instances of the error window popping up on top of each other. I reloaded the program, no changes. I am ready to give up and go to Chrome (which does not have the error)

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

The "Welcome Page" keeps coming up every time I open - how can I get rid of it?

Upgraded 2 weeks ago & used welcome page to take tours then...every time I open FF4 this page comes up ahead of my Start page, and stays on a tab throughout the session.
I don't need it or want it, but I can't find a way to make it go away...Help!

Since upgrading to Firefox 4 every time I open or refresh a page everything freezes and I have to wait a minute or so for it to respond again. I'm also having problems with uploading to Photobucket and watching things via Youtube since the upgrade.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0 a couple of days ago, every time I open or reload a page the whole browser freezes. At first I thought it might be down to compatibilty issues with other programmes open at the time, but as the problem has persisted when those programmes aren't open I'm starting to think it's the browser itself and it's getting extremely frustrating having everything freeze every time I want to change a page.
My other problem is twofold: with Youtube nothing plays at all because the toolbar with the play/pause option simply isn't there and I am unable to access the upload function on Photobucket because likewise it won't appear. I'm assuming this has something to do with Flash but have no idea how to fix it.

Firefox update page keeps opening in a new tab every time I open Firefox. How do I stop this?

Every time I open up Firefox, the update checking window opens first, then I get 2 tabs that open. One is my home page, the other is the page that opens after a new version of Firefox is installed. How can I get the Firefox update page to stop opening? I had the same thing happen with the "Download Helper" add-on. The only way I could get it to stop was to disable it. I am running windows 7 and Firefox 9.

Firefox crashes every time I open it and try to go between pages, I can not use firefox, help

I converted my new computer from an old one about a week ago.
Every time I open Firefox, it either crashes immediately or once I try to go between pages it crashes. I get a window that says Firefox quite Unexpectedly. Apple Care worked on this with me.
We opened Firefox in Test Mode, the crashes did not happen.
I would like to use Firefox, it is much better than Safari, but not being able to get help for Firefox; I have no choice.
I don't know how to submit information to Mozilla, therefore I have no crash ID.

With Test mode, do you mean starting Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.

How do i make a tab active and make it stay that way always. If i put a website in my home page in order for the tabs to open automatically in that same homepage , this setting is not working, every time I open a tab , a white window appears .

By default Firefox opens a blank page for a new Tab, there is no setting to change that action without installing an add-on.

Every time I open a new Safari page, it loads the one(s) that are already open, instead of taking me to a new start page.

Every time I open a new Safari page on my MacBook Pro, it load the one(s) that are already open, instead of a new page. it's 8.0.2. I already went to Preferences and it says new page will open to Favorites....but it doesn't.

Also check in Safari Preferences and look in the Safari Opens with and make sure that it is set to “with a new window” and not “all the windows from your last session”. Take a look at the article for more information.

I want my home page to open every time I open a new tab. Where is the setting for that?

There is no setting for this, but you can do that by using an add-on such as:

Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.
