Every time I open Firefox on my new MacBook, I get the icons that appear when it is first downloaded.

One icon that appears is the one prompting to move it into the applications folder, along the blue one (flat box shaped, with the white Firefox icon, and a slot in the front, on the right side of the screen). I can't get these to stop reappearing.
This happened
Every time Firefox opened
== I first downloaded the most recent Firefox (3.6.8)

That should read "along with the blue one..."

• Every time I open Firefox or a new Firefox window, my home page opens but so does a second tab showing the LinkedIn login page. Don't know how this started happening or how to stop it.

Figured it out. There was code in the Preferences/home page field telling it to open my home page and that page at the same time in two tabs. Don't know how it happened, but is fixed now.

Yeah, I don't know why I can't find my posted problem of November 18, but it was similar, and I also figured out how to fix it. IF when you open Firefox to your homepage and MORE opens than IS your homepage, then go to tools, options, and check your homepage info. You will find the URLs to your homepage plus whatever windows are opening that you do NOT want. Delete everything but the homepage and close. I had at least 10 windows opening from a browsing session over a week ago every time I opened Firefox... aggravating!

• Every time I open Firefox 8.01, on my WinXP laptop, the "bookmarks" toolbar disappears but the checkmark in the view/toolbars menu is still checked when I reopen it, just no bookmarks toolbar showing on screen, Is There A Fix For This?

I've tried everything including reinstalling Firefox. It began after a new WinXP update. If I go into the view file and uncheck, then check the bookmarks toolbar it shows up and functions fine but to have to do this every time I open the browser is annoying and it just started happening

Hi,
The "Tools" are in the old drop down menu, which are not shown by default in the new Firefox Design. To show this menu:
Firefox Menu > Customize
On the bottom left there will be Show/Hide Toolbars. The Menu will be listed here.

• Almost every time I open Firefox some bookmarks move up, and down the sidebar. Anyone know how I can fix this frustrating problem?

I have many bookmarks in folders. The folders, and some plain book marks move up or down from where I place them every time I open I open Firefox 4.0. I have even put them back to where I want them to be, and next time I open Firefox they move like they are playing Hide & Seek! Also from time to time there are new bookmarks added named "about:blank: I deleted the 8 ones created last week a few days ago, and now have 6 more! I am also having problems deleting some plugins, but that is another issue to worry about later.

Any chance you are using the Sync service?

• Order a new macbook and get the old operating system when it's delivered

Hi apple user,
A weird thing happed, in my opinion. On the 24 of august i did order my MacBook Pro witch i got in the 6sth of September. In the same period Apple launched snow leopard (28th august), i thought Apple would be good for there users and did install Snow Leopard on my laptop. Today i did find out (yes a bit late) they didn’t.
I remember they did offer to new users the option to get the snow leopard delivered, so i thought to call them and ask them for the update. But now I’m to late and they won’t send me the update, isn’t that weird? Order a new macbook witch is already old when you get it delivered (sounds like bill gates).
What’s your opinion about this?

Order a new macbook witch is already old when you get it delivered
It was built before Snow Leopard was finished. They are not going to take items out of boxes to update them which is why they offered the free update.
As noted -> Snow Leopard in the NL store is € 29,00.

hello, you have malicious addons present. please go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and remove HDPlus-V1.9 and Plus-HD-V1.9c.
afterwards run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

• - Invalid username/password combination. If you continue to get this error, try entering your email address as your username. This pops up in a balloon every time I open Firefox 5. I have checked ALL the tabs and don't see any way to change.

Hi timc,
Thank you for answering my question. After taking the screen shot I started thinking "maybe it's one of the add-ons that I downloaded!!!" So I turned off the "Yahoo! Notifier" add-on, and sure enough "poof-it never appeared again"... Thanks for being the guy to get me out of myself and start thinking backwards...(And I really don't need that add-on anyway, just seemed cool that's all)... Thanks again timc...!!!

• Every time I start Firefox or do other functions I get the error message "getPlusPlus_Adobe_reg.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."

It started after upgrading Adobe shockwave, and I have used the Adobe remove tool and reinstalled and I have removed and reinstalled Firefox and it continues,

I was having this problem few days ago,and I have fixed.Try this steps-If you have AVG antivirus so go on firefox>Tools>Add On and Disable AVG safe search and AVG tool bars too. Then restart computer.

• I tried to erase all of the data on my Mac and now every time I try to start up my MacBook I get the backlash sign!? I've been trying to figure this out for almost 6 hours please help

i used the command F to go into Disk Utility. I clicked on my Hargrove and clicked erase. Then I restarted my comouter and it won't load up. I've tried so many things but nothing is workig? What do I do?

It won't "load up" because you erased the drive, including the operating system. There is nothing there to load...
Try following the instructions here: OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support
You need to re-install OS X. You don't have a bootable drive right now.

• How do I stop the Plugin Status screen from coming up every time I open Firefox?

I get a screen asking me to update or delete a list of plug ins. I don't want to see this every time I open Firefox.

Updating your Plugin programs would get rid of that "nag" page when you open Firefox.
Both Java and Flash received updates this past week.
Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter. <br />
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Pref = plugins.update.notifyUser if it shows as True, double-click that pref to toggle it to False

• How do I stop the "Better Privacy" help page coming up every time I open Firefox and while browsing?

The "Better Privacy" help page opens as a separate tab every time I open Firefox. I close it, but it keeps coming back, usually when I go to another site (by clicking a link or using a bookmark) and at seemingly random intervals while I'm browsing.
chrome://bprivacy/content/BetterPrivacy.html
I'm sure it's not malware, but it's driving me mad. Is there no way to block this annoyance?
I don't want to disable Better Privacy, but I'm often tempted to do so.
I'm using (Linux) Ubuntu 12.04, which comes with Firefox 18.0.2.

• How do I block a popup window that I have allowed to open on Firefox once? I now have the popup blocker set to block all sites, but the popup still opens every time I open Firefox or open (sometimes) a new tab.

How do I block a popup? I allowed this popup to open once. Now I have set the popup blocker to block all sites but this popup still opens every time I open Firefox and sometimes (usually) when I open a new tab.
I Have stopped and restarted Firefox multiple times.
I have rebooted the computer.
I have set the tools/options/content/block pop-up windows/exceptions to block all sites (no exceptions).
I have no other issues with Firefox.
I have Adblock plus (with (1) subscription) installed
I am currently using Firefox version 4.0 on Windows7 Ultimate.

Just to address the last point: check your History menu to see whether you have the Restore Previous Session option and use that if you can. If that is grayed out or doesn't restore everything, check the Recently Closed Windows and Recently Closed Tabs lists for other pages.
The unwanted window may be generated by an add-on. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any improvement?
Here are some other things to check:
(1) user.js file that changes Firefox startup behavior and overrides your preferences. This article describes how to track that down and delete it if you have one: How to fix preferences that won't save.
(2) Possible hijacked shortcut. Check the "target" of the desktop icon you use to start Firefox to see whether it lists the unwanted page. To do that:
right-click the icon > Properties > Shortcut tab
For 64-bit Windows 7, the Target should be no more and no less than this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
(3) Possible undisclosed bundle items. If you have installed any free software recently, check your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a program for surprises. If you click the "Installed on" column head to group by date, it is easier to spot bundled junk. Remove everything suspicious or unrecognized.
(4) Supplemental clean up scans. Our support article lists tools other Firefox users have found helpful: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
Hopefully that cures it.

Every time I open Firefox to search for something - it automatically opens a second tab and forces me to that tab. On the second tab is the Google account login. I now avoid using Firefox if I can because I cannot shut this off.

Does this also happen in Safe Mode? You can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
* Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
Also, on the General tab in Firefox preferences, what are "When Firefox starts" and "Home Page" set to?

I am having the same problem and it seems to have just started (6/15/11). I have tried reloading the program several times and even the first release of the 4.o with no success. The same scenario also occurs when I click to open a new "tab" after the browser is already launched.
