Every time I press the home button a new tab opens. How do I stop this?

When I push the home button to go to my home page, the firefox loads my home page but also opens a new tab with the firefox home page with the google search bar.
How do I stop the new tab from opening. I can't find it in the options page.

Tools>Tab Utilities Options... Then un-check Home under the Open new tabs group

I tried uninstall and reinstall of Firefox but the pesky tab still opens every time I click the home icon. To make it worse I get a new tab every time which means I can have multiple customizing tabs opening during a single session. How can I stop this happening?

In Options/General you must have more than one Home page selected.

  • Why is a new tab opening every time I click the home button??? If it doesn't stop, I'm gone after meny years.

    no, you give ME details.

Is there a new tab in addition to your home page, or does the current page stay the same and the home page opens in a new tab?
If you haven't already, try resetting your home page. This articles describes the various methods: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help]

Is it possible to lock the onscreen numeric keyboard on the iPad mini so that I do not have to go back to the regular keyboard every time I press the space button?

Thanks so very much!! You ROCK! I took your second suggestion and went into the iPad settings menu and then into the app. From there I was able to mute the sound effects I wanted. Really appreciate your help.

  • In Yosemite, pasted objects in Photoshop Elements 12 automatically snap to the center of a new window. How do I stop this from happening?

I installed Yosemite yesterday. Now, when I paste an image into a new window to combine it with another image, the layer or layers automatically snap back to the center of the new window. How do I stop this from happening?

Thanks, Barbara. I don't use a trackpad on my iMac, just a mouse. However, I DID discover yesterday that if I press COMMAND-T (the command to Free Transform an image) I can then move the image where I want in the window. I need to use the command every time I move the image, which is annoying--in Mavericks, that Free Transform command was somehow the default.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • Bing is taking over Firefox - auto starts on start, or grabs the home page if I start it - how do I stop this? Go to Safari?

Every few months, Bing takes control of Firefox:
When I start the computer, Bing autostarts FF and then makes itself the home page.
If I quickly close FF - I am really upset about this Bing thing and will never use it, so I shut down the autostart FF - and then open FF myself, Bing will open as the home page.
When I check options Gmail is set as the home page. When I check bookmarks, there is nothing for Bing.
This is a pretty egregious MS malware program.
How do I stop this, and keep it from re-occurring? Note that I've already tried the resetting of FF, which means I must reinstall all extensions. That works but only for a few weeks. The Bing malware is back. How do I get rid of this, once and for all? Or could Mozilla have a legal chat with MS, since they are "grabbing" your software in the worst malware fashion.
I use an ASUS F502c. It came with Windows 8; I've upgraded that to 8.1
    Thanks,
    DMS

  • A warning keeps appearing every 10 minutes indicating the disk was not ejected properly.  How do I stop this warning?

The disk was not ejected properly.  If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off.
To eject a disk, select it in the Finder and choose File Eject.  The next time you connect the disk, Mac OS X will attempt to repair any damage to the information on the disk.

Try mounting a disk, then ejecting it properly, see if that helps.  Please post back with results.

  • Following an amazon link and then accessing the page makes firefox open another amazon page in a new tab. How do I stop this

I have this bizarre problem with firefox and Amazon (com and co.uk)
If I click a link (open in new tab) to an amazon page the page opens in a new tab. Fine.
If I then select that page (click its tab) the page is displayed and then a new amazon page opens in a new tab with the url http://www.amazon.com/?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0&link_code=hom&tag=skipthemalls-20
If I close the new amazon page and return to the original amazon page the phenomenon does not repeat - not new window opens.
This does not happen in any other browser (IE or Chrome)
This does not happen on any other website.
I've scanned my PC (Malwarebytes and security essentials) and found nothing sinister
All forefox add ons are disabled. To be sure, I've started 'restarted firefox with add ons disabled' and the problem still occurs. I've even reset Firefox to its original state and still the problem occurs.
    So now what?
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Thinkpad R60 4GB

That page is coded to a particular "affiliate" (skipthemalls) and may have the purpose of setting a cookie to earn a cut of revenue from your purchase. If that is not caused by the site you visited that brought you to Amazon, it's hard to think of a reason for it to open. (Even then, you would think it would be processed transparently in the background.)
More generally, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
