EVERY time I start Thunderbird, a new installation window opens

Every time I open Thunderbird a new installation window (file extraction) opens as well. Whether I proceed through to finish or cancel, the result is the same. Thunderbird appears to be working normally in every other way, but this window opens each and every time I open a new session - please help!!!

Hey There Christ1 -
The target ended up being right, so I disabled addons and renabled them one by one hoping I would find the problem. As it turned out, when I finally got down to ReminderFox (one of my faves :-( that one triggered this reaction every time, so unfortunately until the developer comes up with a fix for that, I've just kept it disabled... Thanks again for your help - and anyone else who may be having this problem, try disabling this add on for now (bummer)!
Thanks again everyone!

  • For some reason every time I start Firefox I get a window to print the current page. Am I the only one this happens to? Is there any way to get rid of it? It just started with the previous update.

When I start Firefox, the standard print window comes up as if I had clicked on print under the file menu. I close the window without problems, and it doesn't show up again until the next time I start Firefox. When I click on print under the file menu, I get the print window without any problems.

Is it a USB hard drive?  USB hard drives have the problem of not giving full speed if they are hooked up on the same bus as keyboards and mice.  Double check your profiler to make sure that is not a problem.  If it is Firewire, make sure there aren't other firewire devices in use at the same time.  I recommend not only keeping a Time Machine backup, but also a clone, and if you do use Time Machine, to make sure the Time Machine drive or partition is at least twice the size of the original drive.

  • Reader 9.3.3 installs every time I start up my PC

I'm on Windows XP Professional, v 5.1.2600, Service Pack 2.
A while back I tried downloading and installing Adobe Reader 9.3.3 as an update to the old Reader I had. It never installed properly -- constant error messages, and it somehow wiped out the old Reader, too. IT told me about the FoxIt pdf reader, which I installed on a temporary basis until IT could get over here to investigate the Adobe Reader problem. While FoxIt was installed, I noticed that Adobe Reader 9.3.3 would attempt to install itself every. single. time. I. started. the. PC. Unsuccessfully! IT eventually came over to uninstall FoxIt and they found a way to successfully install Reader 9.3.3, but this application STILL tries to install itself every time I start up.
How do I get this to stop???? They tell me it has something to do with a script that's being called forth at startup ... ?????

I found the following Adobe-related applications in the startup tab when I ran msconfig:
    Reader_sl.exe
    AdobeARM.exe
    Acrotray.exe
    Acrobat_sl.exe
Unchecking their boxes did not solve the problem. Abobe Reader 9.3.3 still installs itself upon every startup, making startup last a full 6 minutes.
Are there any other suggestions about how to fix this?
P.S. When I look in Add/Remove Programs within the control panel, I see that I have Adobe Acrobat 9 (v. 9.0.0), Acrobat.com (v. 2.1.0.0), and something that labels itself Adobe Reader 9.3.2, but it is actually version 9.3.3.

  • Is this normal every time I start up DW and a new site?

Every time I start DW it wants to update its location, when I first installed it I moved it to a different folder but only once. Is that normal? Also, when I start a new DW site it tells me that "the root folder you have chosen is inside the folder for site "other site name". This may cause some operations, such as synchronization, to work incorrectly. Proceed anyway?"   It says this even though the file that I choose for it is alone on my desktop, not in another folder. Thanks for your help!

    Normal.  No.
    Which operating system?
    Which version of DW?
Do you have the latest updates for your product?
How have you defined your local site settings for Site A?  And how for Site B?

  • F this error message  "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" with 2 radio buttons "Ignore" or "reject"  It comes up every time I start my new printer. How do I get rid of it?

When installing my new HP printer I received the following error message when I inserted  the software install disk: "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" with 2 radio buttons "Ignore" or "reject"  I was able to eject the disk but the message remains. Now every time I start up the printer this error message pops up on my computer.  I have since used the disk drive successfully for music CD's etc.  How can I get rid of this message?

    PRAM RESET
    Zap the PRAM
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • I get a nimax.exe- Application Error every time I start labview

every time I start a vi either by double clicking or by opening labview first I get an application error... "the instruction at "0x1ca12b96" referenced at "0x00000000", The memory could not be "read", click ok to terminate the program". when I click ok the program does not terminate and as long as I don't close labview completely I can close it and reopen the vi. I am unsure if the program malfuncions after that point but it is certainly an annoyance. Have you seen this problem before? Is there something that I should do to the vi to correct the problem? Thanks,

I talked to NI about this issue, and tried the following WITH success (note that I am running W2k and Labview 6.0.2):
    1. Uninstall all NI components in the reverse order you installed them. For me, this was Ni-Daq, Ni-488.2, and finally Labview 6.0. If you have to, look at the modified or created dates of the folders to see what order you did it in.
    2. After this, I decided to go a bit further and delete the registry key for Ni-Daq under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\NI-DAQ. Make sure you Export your registry key beforehand in case something goes wrong.
    3. Install Labview 6.0, custom installation. For this installation, DO NOT INSTALL the drivers, just Labview.
    4. After that, I installed the upgrade patch for Labview 6i -> 6.0.2, downloaded at ni.com.
    5. Next I downloaded the 2 files for NI-DAQ 6.9.3, uncompressed the files, and ran the setup. When the installation was done, I chose to not reboot now, but let me do it later. At one of these points, you can also Mass compile the VI's. I don't think it's necessary at this point, but I did it anyway.
    6. Finally, I downloaded NI-488.2 version 2.2 (which has a new version of MAX than NI-DAQ 6.9.3), uncompressed it and installed it.
    7. After this last step, I rebooted the computer and was able to finally get into MAX to configure my DAQ card.
So far, this method has worked. Perhaps it can work for you.

  • Every time I start Firefox it repeats the add-on compatibility check

I understand the need to check compatibility with newer versions of Firefox. But in my installation (FF4) , it performs this check EVERY time I start up Firefox, and - as the message says - it takes several minutes.
After this check, everything works fine, inclusive all my plug-ins
Previous versions did not have this problem.
I tried already setting all copmpatibility settings to false:
    extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0 false
    and so on
Is anything else casuing this check at startup of Firefox?

i had this problem too. in your C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yourprofilename directory you will find a file called "user.js". i had upgraded from firefox 6.0.1 to 6.0.2, but for some reason this file did not get updated properly. using notepad i edited this file and changed all references to 6.0.1 to 6.0.2 instead (change your version number as appropriate of course). that fixed the problem for me.

I recieve this message every time I start my computer, AppleSyncNotifier.exe - Entry Point Not Found. How can I fix this?

    No problem.
You can either get it via Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update" ... it'll appear in the "New programs" section) or by downloading an installer from the following page on the Apple Website:

  • Logic asks for serial number every time I start it...

    Hi,
I've just reinstalled Logic Studio and it asks me for a serial number every time I start up Logic Pro if I don't have the old XS key inserted.
It's the upgrade version and in the past i've just needed to insert the XS Key at installation, not evey time I use it.
I'm using Logic Pro (lastest update) with Lion which Apple says is supported.
    Can anyone help?

I had this issue when I upgraded. I resolved it by inserting the key before I started the upgrade and left it in there and then valdidate it with the serial. After that it never asked for the key again. If this is not working you might want to contact support and they probably provide a new serial key.

  • Why is my library being repaired every time I start Aperature?

    Hi,
A while back, I suddenly started to get a wraning everytime I started Aperture 3, telling me that my library needs repairing. This happens now every time I start Aperture, and the rapair process takes ages (10-15 mins). Anyone know WHY? and how to solve this issue?
    Kind Regards
    Arne

    Anyone?
    Arne,
are you holding down cmd-option while starting the Aperture Application or while double clicking the Library? Try double clicking the Library, while holding down cmd-option.
If possible, turn on the "Activity Window" after you launch Aperture  (Window -> Show Activity). With luck you can spot what Aperture is trying so desparately to repair. You may have one single corrupted image in the Library that Aperture is trying to repair. Then the problem could be solved by deleting this corrupted image.
Does Aperture work well, if you create a new, empty library?
File -> Switch to Library -> New
If you even have problems with a new, empty library, try to reinstall Aperture.
But if you can create a new library, and Aperture seems to work well with this Library, and if you have enough free disk space, you could try to clone your library by importing it into a new library, either by exporting several smaller libraries from your current library and then importing successively these smaller libraries into the new, empty library, or importing all at once.
