Every time I start up it says it's already running. I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times...
Message states
"Firefox is already running but not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window."
So then I click "Close Firefox".
Then I open it again and I get the same message....

OK. I just want to use browser. Not hack into the Pentagon. This is way too complex. Can anyone point me to a Youtube (maybe Google is the answer...) tutorial on this? Thanks. This is way to complex. ''FredMcD [[#answer-702985|said]]''

This started after I did a windows easy transfer of some Quickbook files from my old computer to my laptop. I have uninstalled firefox and downloaded the latest version from the website and still get this message. I cannot see where it can be running. Thnx, Bill.
This sounds like it's not the Firefox installation itself that is messed up, but your profile folder (where your personal settings like bookmarks, passwords, etc are stored). You say you used easy transfer, and that might have gone wrong somehow.
To start from scratch again, follow the instructions under "Creating a new profile" here: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles. Hope this helps! -

I am unable to access anything in firefox , just get the spinning wheel and have to force quit.
Sounds like you are having kernel panics - usually hardware related:

There was no "update failed" message
I wonder whether I'm doing the right thing when I drag to the dock. There's only one ff icon in the applications folder. The first time I was prompted to update it showed that days date next to the icon as if the update was successful. The second time was a few days later but I think it was still the same date next to the icon (25/8/10) I've only just noticed that (on 10/9/10) so can't be sure but I'm sure the second time was around 2nd or 3rd of Sept.
Also, I am running two versions of ff- one is english, the other is the Italian version. They can't be opened at the same time but they seem to talk to eachother in the background, so to speak, because when I open one after a long gap, it opens with all the history and settings of the other one, right up to the last website I went to. I think I closed both when updating because it prompts you to close all programmes and restart (I think/ remember) so I just clicked ok to that prompt.
By the way, I got the prompt to update twice for ''BOTH'' the Italian and the English version- so 4 times altogether so it would seem that ff does recognise them as separate but still has problems concluding the update for each separate one respectively.
Thank you very much if you can help.
TrapperjohnDownload a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Install the new version that you have downloaded.
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data. -
anybody got any ideas ??? won't launch from desktop
Thanks. I read that link before posting here but I wasn't able to do the first part because iTunes will not ever open for me to start it in Safe mode.
Since I posted yesterday, "something" I did must have worked (but I don't know what exactly because I think I didn't do anything). But iTunes just randomly appeared on the system tray yesterday afternoon. It wouldn't open by clicking on it, so I tried to Ctl-Alt-Del to close it, thinking I'd at least get some errors to view in the log, but then about a half hour after I had tried to close it through Ctl-Alt-Del, it actually opened. It still doesn't recognize my iPhone 4S though. If I get that to start working I'll update again. -
is this a known issue?
If you close Firefox properly the problem will practically disappear.
To close Firefox properly:
:<b>Closing Firefox</b> ''(#close_firefox)'', avoid getting <b>Firefox already running</b> messages: To properly shutdown Firefox when multiple windows or closing the
last window use File → Exit/Quit (or Firefox button → Exit). Closing Firefox with the [X] in the upper right corner closes the window ("Ctrl+W") but that does not necessarily close Firefox if it has subtasks running. If you want to close and reopen Firefox use the "Restart" within Add-ons if you made a change requiring a restart, or install "[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/restartless-restart/ Restartless Restart]" ("Ctrl+Alt+R") which will allow you to take Firefox down and restart without having to check the Windows Task Manager to see if Firefox first actually ended. ([http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs Firefox hangs])
In checking the Windows Task Manager be sure to check the "Process" tab not the "Application"tab/ -

ITunes will not start, already tried to uninstall and reinstall
I cannot get iTunes to launch. I click on iTunes and it wont come up at all. It doesn't even appear in the task manager. I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling and it does the same thing. I've looked at things in the apple troubleshooting to fix it but I can't fix it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I hope someone chimes in to help. I'm having the exact same problem. Won't launch - have, as you, tried to repair via iTunes 9.1. Uninstalled/reinstalled using option on iTunes 9.1 download. Uninstalled from Windows Control Panel, download and run 9.1 download. All don't help - results always same: won't launch.

I downloaded the latest version of firefox and the problem has started; it aways says: "Firefox is already running, but not responding. To open a new window you must first close the existing Firefox process or restart your system; I have to do this about 3 times for the internet to come on again; what can I do, short of calling a technician??
Please read this article: [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]

I have a windows 7 premium laptop, 64 bit driver, have tried to install itunes but recieve an error when trying to open. Error states "Apple Application Support is required to run itunes. uninstall and reinstall again, error 2 (windows error 2). have tried this 4-5 times with no success. help!
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if AAS won't install normally.

Each time I start Firefox it says:
"URGENT! Your version of Firefox is no longer protected against online attacks. Get the upgrade - it’s fast and free!"
I am using ver. 3.6.13 and upgrading "successfully" only stays on 3.6.13 with same URGENT message.Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up and needs to be reset. <br />
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent]
type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.'' <br />
Filter ='''general.useragent.''' <br />
Right-click the preferences that are '''bold''', one line at a time, and select ''' ''Reset'' ''', <br />
Then restart Firefox -
Started having trouble with iTunes so I uninstalled everything and tried to reinstall but it says ' iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes.' Well, I've uninstalled and reinstalled 5 times. Now what?
I figured it out. A week ago I had downloaded a screensaver from a website I trusted and that's when my problems started. I uninstalled it but that didn't help. So, I reinstalled it then used an uninstall softtware app that cleanns more than the control panel does. Then I used a computer cleaner to be sure everything was wiped clean. And it worked. I downloded iTunes for the 7th time in 2 days and finally it worked! And I lost nothing from my account.
Maybe this info will help others. -
When I start iPhoto it says the library needs to be updated and when I try to do that it says that the program is in use or unreadable. This is the the first time I have ever launched it. What do I do? It keeps going around in circles. I have tried re-starting the computer and re-launching the program holding down the option-command keys. Neither helped.
What version of iPhoto are you using?
This is the the first time I have ever launched it.
Does that mean there are no photos in the library? If so move it to the Trash bin in the Dock and launch iPhoto again.
If there are photos in the library do the following:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
and select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
