Every time I try to open Adobe Premiere Elements, it crashes upon startup. The 1 in 20 times it does open, it crashes when I try to add/watch video clips.

How can I stop this from happening?

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•Are you using an account with Administrator Privileges?
Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 (Encore + "All" Premiere)
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?
What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

  • Can't open Adobe Premiere Elements 9

I've had some problems with Adobe Premiere Elements 9 recently, and right now I'm not able to use it. I'm not sure what the problem is really or how to fix it so I'll just write down what has happened here and hopefully someone knows what to do.
A week or so ago my laptop started to crash repeatedly, but fortunately that was solved. But then I noticed that when I opened Adobe Premiere Elements, that's when it crashed and only then. It stopped crashing altogether except for when I opened this program (if it is of any importance I also tried opening Windows Movie Maker to edit there in the meantime but the same thing happened there, which seems strange and kinda random to me). I decided to get an antivirus software and install that and see if that took care of it, which I have now done. That didn't exactly take care of it though. The laptop did stop crashing when opening the Adobe software, but nothing happens once it's opened. The tabs on the top right are there but the whole program is just grey (where you would normally have the timeline on the bottom, video to the left, and the files etc. to the right) and nothing else comes up. I then tried to uninstall Adobe Premiere Elements 9 from my laptop altogether and then re-install it with the CD I still had from purchasing the laptop a couple of years ago. But after re-installing there is no change. Just a grey screen once again, except for the tabs and all that on the top. Now I'm not sure what else to try. It's frustrating as I need this program to work right about now. Does anyone know what to do? Thanks.

  • We tried to install Adobe Premiere Element and it keeps saying the E drive is empty.

Adobe Premiere Elements 13.1 keeps saying the E drive is empty.  We got around it by changing the name to another letter.  Why did it do this?

    ireneo
Please explain your question a bit further. Is the following your scenario?
    1. You installed Adobe Premiere Elements 13 (on what computer operating system?) Assumed from installation disc and to the default location on the Local Drive C.
    2. You are inserting your installation disc into the burner tray, the burner being the E drive? And, you get a message about empty E drive instead of the AutoPlay for
you to click on to start the installation path?
There is a known problem with Premiere Elements 13/13.1 where installation of this version generates a No Disc error. The fix for that is deleting or disabling the OldFilm.AEX
    file in the path
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Adobe Premiere Elements 13
    Plug-ins
    Common
    NewBlue
and in the NewBlue Folder is the OldFilm.AEX file that you delete or disable by renaming it from OldFilm.AEX to OldFilm.AEXOLD.
What type of Blu-ray DVD burner or DVD/CD burner was involved in this situation - internal or external?

  • Premiere Elements 9 closes upon Startup Menu

When I open Premiere Elements 9, I click "New Project", and it looks as if it is loading for a few moments, and then automatically crashes. It also happens when I try to open an old project within Premiere Elements. I am using a 64-bit Windows Vista computer, and this has never happened within the past 3-4 years that I have been using Premiere Elements.
Any help would be much thanked!
    -John King

    John King
Let us try deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file. In your Windows Vista 64 bit, I would expect it to be:
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    9.0
and in the 9.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the hold 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.
Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
If that does not work, then let us go through the drill
    1. Are you working from the 9.0.1 Update for Premiere Elements 11 Windows?
    2. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1?
    3. Are you running the program Run As Administrator as well as from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
    4. Is you video card driver up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card? Does your computer use two video cards?
Let us start here and then decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • Cant open Adobe Premiere Element 10...keeps disappearing!!!

I just installed Adobe Premiere Elements... I cant get the program to open up... It starts to open then it disappears... I tried to open it up many times with no luck...My computer is an HP Desktop-
Intel Dual Core 3.4 GHz, 2GB Ram, 80 GB HD.... If anyone knows how to get this program to work, any help would be appreciated...!?

You haven't said if you've purchased the program or if you're just using the trial. But here's one fix to try.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/542377
If that doesn't work -- well, you've got a very small hard drive for editing video. How much of that is free space?
You'll need a good 20-30 gigs of free, clean, defragmented space to even open this program.

I get the following window pop up after trying to install Adobe Premiere Elements.  After it prompts me to select the language i get this:

I think I figued it out... But why installations instructions didn't come up when I inserted the disk was very annoying. And because they didn't, Adobe should post th installations instructions somewhere on their support site. Not here now, which is also annoying.

  • Need help opening Adobe Premiere Elements 11

I purchased a package deal with Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11.   The photoshop portion is working fine, but I can't get the premiere to even open!   I click on the icon on my dock and nothing happens.  There is another icon on my desktop (main screen) but it only gives me an option to 'un-install'.    Is there a phone number to call for Adobe support?   I need real help!!??

    Welcome to the forum.
As the biggest cause of PrE not launching is an obsolete video driver (PSE does not rely so heavily on the video driver), please answer these questions:
What is the make and model of your video card/chip?
Do you have a laptop, or desktop?
What is the installed version of the video driver?
Is that the latest from the nVidia, or AMD/ATI Web site? Do not trust your OS to tell if you have the latest.

What computer operating system will you be using for Premiere Elements 12? Just background information for now.
Were you given instructions from the seller with regard to getting a serial number when you start with a redemption code?
If you have been following them and those instructions are not working for you, then please review the Adobe document on
    using redemption codes

If the information in that document does not help, then scroll down the document to find the link to Adobe Chat. Adobe Chat

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 8 Can't finish installing Air Runtime Process, and Can't open New Project!

    Hey guys,
I'm having some major issues installing PE8.  I can open the installer screen fine, and it installs fine until it gets to installing the Air Runtime Process.  I have left it downloading that one process for about 5 hours, and i'm not exaggerating.  Finnally, I get too mad waiting for it to finish that I exit out of the installation process.  Even though the installation was never fully finished, for some reason I do have a Desktop icon for PE8.  I click on that and it opens the splash screen with the buttons "New project", "Open Project", and "Organize".  When I try to open "New Project" it begins loading the files that it needs to to open it.  When it gets to loading the Windows Media file, it freezes and then crashes.
I have uninstalled the PE8 and reinstalled it about 5 times now.  I have also used the Windows Cleanup program to clean these corrupted files out of my system before reinstalling.  I have called in twice now to the technical support and they haven't helped me one ounce.  Any answers would be appreciated!  Thanks
    Thanks Again,
    Spencer

    Hello,
I have the exact same problem as you with PE8 and Win7 (x64), and a reboot also helped me. But the problem came back the next time I tried to open PE. Have you expreienced the same? It cant be that we have to reboot every time we want to use PE?

  • Adobe Premiere Elements does not open after installation

    Hello,
I have written before last week. I have bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Adobe Premiere Elements 11.
I had a trial version of Photoshop Elements 11 and with the code I could access the full version.
However Premiere Elements did not open after installation. I did not had a trial version so I first downloaded the full program. I went through the whole installation process and everything seemed ok, no error messages. But when I tried to open Adobe Premiere Elements after restarting the computer it did not open at all. Nothing happened.
I have de-installed and re-installed the program for a couple of times over and over again but with not result. Also tried to download the trial version first and also this didn't work. I checked my Quicktime and updated to the latest version.
I use a Windows laptop: Asus Intel Core i5-2430M, 2,4 GHz
I hope you can help me out!
    Thanks!
    Inge

    The Photoshop Elements worked.
I am not sure what to do here also the link at your reply "working with your operation system tools" didn't work..(got the "broken link error")
    thanks
