Every time I try to perform a character recognition on a PDF on my Mac, to make the PDF searchable, it crashes. Latest OS X, latest Acrobat, brand new Mac.
I am having trouble making PDFs searchable. I often receive bundles of scanned PDFs. I can combine them. I then try and make the resulting file searchable and the process always crashes after a few hundred pages. I have reduced the DPI output from 600 to 300 but that does not help. Running Mavericks on the latest trial Acrobat on a 2014 Macbook Pro.

Please check the performance by updating Acrobat to the latest patch i.e. v11.0.07 and check.

For example, it seems to happen a lot while on the Entertainment Weekly website, (though it happens often on others as well). If I am reading a page and try to pre-load several other articles into new tabs to read as well, it sometimes seems that opening more than a couple of tabs will cause my browser to crash completely while they are trying to load.

Safari 4.0.3 hangs every time I try to print a web page to a pdf file.
Hi. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and whether or not they have found a fix for it. Every time I try to print a web page to a pdf file from Safari (v4.0.3 running under Snow Leopard 10.6.1), Safari hangs and I have to force quit the program. The pdf is saved successfully, but the browser hangs immediately after the file has been created.

Try Safari maintenance.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.

As suggested in your reference thread I removed "/Library/Printers/hp/PDEs/hpPostScriptPDE.plugin" and the problem has been resolved.
I am guessing the the plug-in for the hp printers got corrupted and effected every thing, or became unsuitable when I installed an Apple update. I would be most grateful if you can confirm how the problem was coursed so I can understand and learn from this experiance.

This is really frustrating. Every time i try to sync my 4th gen ipod touch itunes won't recognise it and the ipod keeps beeping - is there anything I can do? I've tried using different cables. Itunes works fine with my family members ipod's & iphones...
The best way to manage your music when you have multiple iPods is to change the settings under "Options" so that you manually manage your music instead of it doing an automatic synch each time you connect. To add only the songs you want, highlight them and then "click and drag" them to your iPod. This way none of your daughter's music gets added and you're not in danger of deleting your playlist as well. It will show you how many songs you've added and you can then click on your iPod to verify. To delete her songs off your iPod now, click on the music tab under your iPod so show everything you have stored. Find those songs you want to delete, click on them to highlight then go up to the Edit window and click delete. This will erase them off your iPod but be careful when you highlight. I did that and then had to reload a cd on my boyfriend's, lol. hope this helps

Why every time I try to download after effect CS5 trial it says 'illegal seek' but its from the Adobe website? is it because of lion? why?
It isn't Lion. It might be the browser you are using or it could be an issue with adobe's site.
Try a different browser and if that doesn't work, contact adobe and let them know you are having problems. -

I just got an iPhone 4 and have been downloading apps from the iTunes store when I encountered difficulty with two specific apps. Each time I try to download dictionary and star walk I get a message saying they are over 50MB and I need to be connected to iTunes to download, which I've tried to no avail. I also thought that when I sign into iTunes on my PC that it would automatically show that my iPhone device is connected (just like it does with my iPod) but it doesn't show the phone icon. I am not sure iTunes is recognizing my phone. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Can you connect to a wifi source on the device? Enable wifi in settings on the device itself. If you don't have wifi at home, there may be a local hotspot you can use for this.
The reason this happens is carriers don't want people downloading huge files that would slow their network as well as eat up your data plan. -
I recently bought a new computer becouse my old computer crashed. Now I can not sync my itunes account. I get an error when I try. It says that itunes will erase my phone content and replace with what is on the phone. I do not want to lose all my stuff so what do I do?
This is how it works.
Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one. -

This problem only occurred with Ffox 4 beta printing web pages as PDF files on previous versions of Ffox has never been a problem...
The web pages appear to lose formatting when displayed or "printed" as a PDF file, randomly placed letters and digits appear all over the page.Caused by a Bug in 4.0b12. Fixed for the 4.0RC version due to be released this week.
