Every time I try to update software my computer freezes when restarting. What should I do?

Every time I try to update software my MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.6.8), the computer gets suspended (freezes) when restarting and nothing gets updated. What should I do to fix the problem?

Try booting into the Safe Mode. If that doesn't work, set up another admin user account and try from there.

Phone crashes every time i try to update software

ok so from the very first day i got my phone when i tried to do the first software update it gets to the screen that says "preparing iphone for software update" and never goes anywhere i left it like that for hours and nothing was happening. so i tried to restore it and it stopped at "preparing iphone for restore" and never went anywhere. i went to the apple store and it restored there just fine. so my screen starts messing up and they replaced the phone for me. i got home and tried to sync all my music back up and it wouldn't start syncing so i clicked the software update button again and guess what? "preparing iphone for software update" AGAIN! so i went upstairs and got another computer and brought it down here (practically the same model computer haha) and have had a crapload of issues trying to get itunes running on it (pc... what do you expect) finally do now when i plug the phone in (it still needs to be restored again mind you) itunes does not recognize it. can somebody friggin help me? i am so close to throwing this phone through the window of the apple store!

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

The best thing you should do is to restore the iphone via itunes and set it up as a new one. I believe that this problem you are experiencing is a software problem.

Error 1015 means the phone has been jailbroken. Per the terms of service, it can not be discussed here.

You must first buy Snow Leopard from Apple: 800-MY-APPLE (in the US)

I Get an error every time I try to update Windows 8.1 or update Defender (EXE On top "Class not Registered")

I think my lap top has a lot more problems, then the sun has Hot spots! :)
(not that I am down playing any one's situation, nor want to sound cynical or Condescending).
Though many of my issues have been resolved through a LOT of time, tech support and a couple friends and personal researching.
But I get the "Class not Registered" Every time I try to update Windows,
(I have Mozilla Firefox 30 and Windows 8.1)
On Top of small Error box, I get EXE..on top. But Inside the error box "Class not Registered"
Some of the other issues or problems were self inflicted by not researching properly, so to say the least I am being extremely cautious.
I have the same issue with Class not Registered, and looking for some ideas or hopefully the solution.
After I try running a windows update and any updates for my virus scan "Defender" which is what I believe windows 8 and 8.1 uses, I am not sure about Vista or Windows 7 have, I never used them.
I went right to 8 through a new lap top. Then I got Windows 8.1 (that was about a month ago)

This is might because of your prior change in softwares. so first you have to do run '''sfc''' in run command. and then you see the specific problem which causes this . Since System File Checker (sfc) scan will make Windows replace corrupt or missing system files on your computer.
* Click Start>All Programs>Accessories>right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator.
* Click Continue or supply Administrator credentials if prompted.
* In the Command Prompt window type the following, and press Enter:
sfc /scannow
