every time I update firefox it will only run updater.exe when I select firefox to run. The only way around this that I have found so far is to do a fresh install of firefox.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Firefox 21 will only run in Admin. mode on Win 7 Pro. Also when I installed FF21 it came with a nasty virus.

Those are the details. FF 21 will not run on my system unless I choose Run as Administrator. So far none of the guesses posted by your tech support about this question in the past have worked.
I have removed the virus and removed FF and reinstalled. Same problem. I removed it again totally and reinstalled, same problem. I have installed it again under an Admin account and I still have the same problem. All of the earlier versions of FF worked fine in user mode.

I know that there are many posts on the internet dealing with FF having to be run under Admin. mode, but none of the guesses as to why have solved this problem. I also realize that most people running 21, judging from the lack of reaction, are running fine in user mode. But it would seem that the FF development team would be interested in this situation.
The trojan that came in on the FF install shut down Trusteer Rapport, a security software that my bank uses and recommends. The Trusteer support team worked with me to disable and remove the Trojan. That is what is called service.

Tried to update Firefox, it appeared to be successful, but when I try to launch it, it asks me to reboot. I even tried to remove it, but it just asks me to reboot, which I did with no result.

When I try to launch the app, it says I must restart to complete an upgrade of Firefox. I reboot, but nothing changes. It just keeps asking me to restart the computer. I even tried to do add/remove, but all I get is that incredibly annoying dialog box asking me to restart. It's a neverending loop.

Every time I start Firefox, the Plugin Check runs. Every ... single ... time. Very annoying. How do I get this to stop?

I installed Adobe Acrobat at least 3 times, but it still shows up as "outdated". Obviously, it only truly installed once, but I tried clicking the button in vain hope that that will fix it.
But really, I simply don't want the Plugin Check to start every time.

Alas, I already tried setting it to False (read it online somewhere) and it doesn't work. Perhaps if you could give guidance on why the Adobe install isn't completing, that would solve the plug-in check issue... Fingers crossed.

Updated OS10.6.8, laptop has 2 user accounts and now Firefox crashes for only one of two users every time at start-up. Other user runs FF fine

Everything was running with 2 user accounts. Did sw updates incl. OS 10.6.8. Now the master account runs properly, including FF 12.0 however the 2nd account now crashes every time FF is launched. WIll not launch in safe mode either. This report is being submitted from the other account that still runs FF properly. Also downloaded FF to reinstal but a warning that I was installing OLDER version - even though I just downloaded the 'current' version. All this seems quite unexplainable! What's up???

Ok so you want Apple to address the problem, but yet you don't want to take it to them just in case they can't fix it? What if they can fix it? Complaining here certainly won't fix it.

Firefox 3.6.10 update won't load on restart (tried many times) and exits after warning to restart again - how to disable warning so don't have to start twice every time I use Firefox?

I regret agreeing to download Firefox 3.6.10 update, as it is somehow corrupted, and will not load when I restart. Subsequently, every time I start Firefox, it warns "Update Ready to Install", then when I don't restart (if I restart, it won't load) it exits, and I have to start Firefox a second time. Then it works without the warning, but when I exit and start Firefox again, the warning returns and the cycle repeats. This is such a nuisance I have gone back (reluctantly) to Explorer. Is there anyway for me to get rid of this corrupted update and go back to before I downloaded the fateful update?

How do i stop the plug in update page from showing every time i start firefox? all are green and updated...

Why is there an update alert every time I launch Firefox?

Every time I launch Firefox, I get the Update Available alert, and it's usually for the same version number. Installing doesn't help. Next time I launch, the alert pops up again. Currently running 35.0.1 on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.3.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Two add-ons update every time I open Firefox; same versions, over and over.

NoScript and Download Helper launch updates every time I open Firefox (latest ver). If I close browser, they launch again immediately.

Thanks, Fred. Tried that and tried it again, restarting between attempts. No dice. Firefox still wants to download both every time. I can even apply my license to Download Helper. It runs while Firefox is open, but tries to reinstall DLH next time I open Firefox.

If I update firefox 7 will disable my free youtube freestudio, so I will not update at this time.

Also it says my yahoo toolbar will be disabled also. Firefox 6 works perfectly for me... I don't need to fix anything with it. How do I stop getting the update msgs. I will update of course when I can keep my youtube freestudio. I don't choose to disable it. I may have to switch to Chrome or back to internet explorer then.. Let me know your thoughts. I am happy with firefox, the way it is right now. I have no problems with it :) Cyrus

Try asking the Add-ons Developers if they have an Updated version to be compatible with Firefox 7.
