Every time I upgrade my preferences get wiped

This happend 6 months ago after building up my FCP and bespoke preference which I would save to my Adobe cloud account. I thought wow this is great! I can sync across computers.
Then a week or 2 later I get prompted to upgrade and all preference are wiped and reset to Adobe Premiere default. It was very annoying and so I did not update again (it seems the updates / or 'fixes' come every week or something?!)
Today though I had rto upgrade as my timeline kept freezing and not refreshing so I thought a new version might fix it.
And again all preferences are wiped and it is reset to Premiere default.
Cloud sync download seems to do nothing.
I will never upgrade again if I can help it!
Is this just me getting this issue? Really bad and never happens with other programmes. Preferences should be preserved as the holiest of files!
NOT HAPPY!

To explain the problem more fully then. I have created my preferences and intermittently used the cloud and uploaded them to keep them safe. So my understanding was that the preferences were both local and in the cloud. BUT on upgrading my preferences were reset to factory. Then I went to the cloud and selected download settings - no luck. All settings were gone. It has happened both times I have updated now.
You suggestion to back up before though is a good one and I will now do that next time. Do you know where that specific file is stored? Thanks.
By default ~ Documents/Adobe/PremierePro/8.0/Profile-<username> contains "Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs" and several other customization items, so you should probably just copy the whole folder unless it's huge.
Your expectations about how to use Sync Settings are correct and should work. Try this: make some custom settings (just change a keyboard shortcut item or two) --- Sync Settings > Upload dot Cloud; Manually restore to factory locales; Sync Settings > Download from Cloud... Are the manual KBS changes you made respected? This will tell you if Sync Settings is working at all for you or if the upgrade actually has anything to do with it. Upgrading Sync Settings was an actual feature for 8.0 because there had been changes to the overall cloud infrastructure and we needed to update our settings structure to keep in line with that. It's complex, but it was pretty thoroughly tested and should work. Are you getting any kind of network errors during the sync settings (up or down) process?

  • I recently upgraded to snow leopard and now every time i open iCal i get multiple events to update in iCal

I recently upgraded to snow leopard and now every time i open iCal i get multiple events to update in iCal.  Except I don't know where these are coming from or why.   I've check iCal preferences and Help - can't find a way to stop this from happening automatically.  Any Clues?  Also, some of the events are already on my calendar and have been for quite some time.

    Greetings,
What do you mean by "events to update"?  Do you mean invites to new events or changes to existing invites?
    Troubleshooting:
    1. Your profile indicates you are running 10.6.7, 10.6.8 is the current version Apple > Software update.
    2. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal 1 at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.
    Hope that helps!

I just installed OSX Lion (10.7.2) and updated to the newest version of Logic express (9.1.5) on a macbook and every time I playback audio I get this error message:  [Disk is too slow or System Overload. (-10010) The Sudden Motion Sensor may have parked the hard drive head, or the disk performance is not sufficient to read or write all audio tracks, or the system was not able to process all data in time]
Never had any issues before now... any ideas?

Have a look into the Preferences folder (YourUserFolder/Libraries/Preferences/) and trash all Logic preferences.
You'll have to setup the program again.

  • Every time I update Firefox, I get Adobe Flash plugin errors

I'm disgusted with Firefox and Adobe. Does anyone have a fix for the problem that Firefox causes every time I upgrade? (Win 7, 64 bit I think) ... I just tried to re-install v29 Firefox (which was the last version that worked) ... and got routed to something called Aurora install.
I just want to use a reliable firefox. But whenever I upgrade Firefox, and repeatedly turn off ALL security features so that I can update Adobe flash -- nothing works. Once I get this solved, I'm turning off the Firefox update check option and continue to do all my secure stuff on Chrome! I used to be a huge fan of netscape ... but this is stupid beyond belief.
Here's the error message I get:
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.
    Script: resource://gre/modules/addons/XPIProvider.jsm -> jar:file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Firefox/browser/extensions/%7B82AF8DCA-6DE9-405D-BD5E-43525BDAD38A%7D.xpi!/bootstrap.js -> resource://gre/modules/commonjs/toolkit/loader.js -> resource://gre/modules/commonjs/sdk/loader/sandbox.js -> resource://skype_ff_extension-at-jetpack/skype_ff_extension/data/jquery-2.1.0.min.js:26

... me again ... no need to respond to this problem, I'm just not going to keep wasting time on this browser. Realistically, the posts all over the internet show that Mozilla hasn't bothered addressing this issue for YEARS, and I'm just not interested in wasting any more time or interest in hoping that they will get their act together.
Good luck, former colleagues: I hope they treat you better in the future~!

  • Every time I launch iTunes I get the message: "Do you want the application iTunes.app to accept incoming network connections" Any suggestions?

every time I launch iTunes I get the message: "Do you want the application iTunes.app to accept incoming network connections" Any suggestions?

Just fixed this on my machine, the easiest way to remove this pop-up assuming you are no longer needing that software to print is the following:
    Open Finder
    Go > Go To Folder...
    Type In: "~/Library/Application Support"
    Delete All Folders Named Kodak
    Open System Preferences
    Go to "Security & Privacy"
Click the lock and enter your admin password
    Click the Firewall Tab
    Go to "Firewall Options..."
    Find KodakAiO
Right-click KodakAiOBonjourAgent or equivalent (I forget the exact name)
    Click "Show in Finder"
Go Back to a folder and delete the Kodak Folder there.
Remove Kodak from Firewall Options by selecting it and clicking the " - " button the base of the list.
       or
    Open Finder
    Go > Go To Folder...
    Type In: "~/Library/Printers"
    Delete All Folders Named Kodak
I'm going off memory, so If I forgot something let me know.

Every time I open Iphoto I get the following message:  "A photo has been found in the Iphoto library that was not imported.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Quit iPhoto and to to the iPhoto library (by default in your pictures folder) - right click (control click) on it and select show package contents - find the folder named import (on importing) and drag it to the desktop - DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES - launch iPhoto and you will be fine.
Open the import(ing) folder and if there is nothing in it that you need move it to the trash and empty the trash

  • Every time i download something i get this error message "Fireclam Problem"

Every time i download anything i get this problem once the download is completed.
    Fireclam Problem
The program executable (null) could not be found.
Make sure that ClamAV/ClamWin is installed properly and check the Fireclam settings
I downloaded the add-on Fireclam, it didn't help.
Please HELP how do i make this error message stop popping up. Thanks :)

    Hi, Kmkriel,
I did some research on the add on and all that came up are the crashes for that add on. Please disable the add on and see if the error message continues.
After reading about the add on, it seems that ClamAV/ClamWin needs to be installed in order for the scan to take place before the download.
If this continues when the add on is disabled please do a virus scan. Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

The most likely reason is that your carrier is not providing 3G service in the area where you're located. Contact your carrier for coverage details.

  • Using DW CC... Win 7 : Every time I start DW,  I get  message telling me to 'switch to" or retry.

Its more of an annoyance than a problem. I'm using Windows 7 Professional on an Intel i7 950 with 16 Gbytes of RAM and a Gforce graphics card with 3072 MBytes of RAM. I'm using the full suite of CC apps.
Every time I start DW I get this error message to "switch to" or retry before it will start. It's got something to do with a browser (I've got 3) but only Chrome has any Adobe related add ons. I recall some time many years ago I got the same message starting Corel Draw or Photo Paint. Come to think of it, that was the reason I moved to Adobe in the first place.
Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Well... Yes and no to fixing it.
I followed that link's instruction — altered for Dreamweaver and yes, it lit up cleanly as administrator but before ever it reached 'booted' stage it warned me I had 00 days of trial left and needed I to register it. OK I'm a paid up renter. I fed it my username and it finished booting only to tell me again, I had 00 days of trial left and needed to register it. I knew where this was leading before ever I entered my email and password for the second time but let it happen anyway.
Then I decided I'd continue with the instructions, log out of DW and re-start it normally. Opps! This application has already been registered on two other machines. CC Manager at it again. Another hour wasted fixing CC dramas. I rebooted the PC without any external drives connected, just the 4 internal drives. OK... Lets start DW and see what happens. I'll tell you firstly that I installed DW on this machine 6 months ago and promptly removed it. Why? Because I get quicker results using notepad++ and I needed to get a job done in a hurry. No time to try and get my head around Dreamweaver in the process.
Honestly speaking I didn't 'cancel' that installation. I didn't realize this antique process still existed.  Anyway... I reinstalled it last month with some time now to 'get my head around it'. CC doesn't speak my language and hasn't yet learned that when you tell it to remove a program, it needs to remove the registration of it too! So I got the 00 days trial left garbage again. Only difference this time it told me both the original install and second install (on the same machine) were still registered but luckily (I won't say for who) There was an option to cancel all other installations. and yes... It loaded cleanly and faster than I can recall it ever had previously. Will it keep doing this? Is this mess going to happen ever few months?
I'm prepared to believe CC's shocking uninstall is to blame. At the best of times it is a messy process, leaving registry entries and files scattered all over my drives. NOT very nice for such a complex program manager. I used to be able to keep it under control with Revo but now CC manager wants to do it all I think it needs a bib or diaper to stop messing up my computer. If this happens again now that I've killed (renamed actually) the folders in the instructions to fix lightroom doing the same thing... I'll lodge a critical error ticket.
Incidentally... How come searching for this solution didn't show up the answer you pointed me to? Is the forum search bot flaky too?

  • Every time my system updates I get system extension error messages.

Every time my system updates I get system extension error messges.  It reads that certain extensions could not be loaded/used which seems to be an apple issue.  Unfortunately, unless you have apple care there is no way to contact them.  I am on LION and my updates are current.  Is anyone else having this issue?

A "clicking noise" is often a sign that a hard drive is malfunctioning. Suggest that you power down the device and take it to an Apple store to have them take a look, or contact Customer Service at Apple for instructions.
