Every time my uncle IM's me on Skype it goes to my...

Question

Please help me with this.  It's ridiculous.  I am getting unintentionally spammed every time my uncle sends me an IM via my Skype account so I can read it on Skype but it also gets dinged to my phone. 
My uncle lives in Mexico so we skype a lot but it's getting very expensive for me to use Skype (which is supposed to not cost anything!)

Such is life in an on-line Community; sometimes some posts receive a reply faster than others when someone happens to be in the neighborhood and sees a question they can answer.  Please remember, our Community Guidelines do remind us this Community is not a branch of Skype Customer Service.
Please ask your uncle to carefully check that he does not inadvertently have the "SMS" choice selected in the instant message window.  If this is the case, then yes; you would receive his messages as an SMS and as a Skype instant message.  In this screen shot, below, this is how to choose to send an instant message as an SMS from the Skype software on a Mac:
Next to the conversation box, click .
The conversation box turns yellow and displays the phone number, the number of characters typed, and the cost of the SMS text message.
Your uncle needs to find the equivalent in his version of Skype, and ensure that "via Skype" is chosen, and not SMS.
