Every time that i start my G5 I get the panel of death,  Help!!

Aloha:  This just started after I had been messing around with a new airport.  The system comes up and works for several minutes and then just dies.
Dan Page
Hawaii

Which G5 model of the five known variants?
The very latest, that's not considered a relic by Apple
What is new about airport and how are you doing it?  Apple Airport Extreme card?  PCI card?  USB Dongle?
The Airport has nothing to do with the G5, specifically, it's just a new airport Extreme to tie all my computers to the internet.
By "panel of death" are you referring to a kernel panic asking you to shut down your computer?
Yep, that's the one.

I keep getting this message every time that i start my computer, but i can still connect to the Internet, and do whatever i could do with a working router and modem.
The server 192-----etc. at WRT54GS requires a user-name and password.
Warning: This server is requesting that your user-name and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).
Then it asks for a user-name and password. What password!?!!!?!? WHAT USERNAME!??!??!?.......if anyone can help i would appreciate it.

the router password is admin by default. Leave the username blank. But for this issue you may check the security setting of your internet options. Disable it from there.

    Hello mrmacjohn,
Verifying that any iCloud account that may be signed in is signed out should resolve this error.
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.

Ps. this only just started happening a week or so ago.

This just started happening to me last week also. After I went through the setup process I could get into my itunes but would get a msg about library not being saved due to user not being an administrator. I went into my program files opened the itunes folder right clicked on the itunes music folder and clicked on "Run as administrator". I haven't had a problem
since. Don't know if this will work for you but I guess it won't hurt. good luck.

  • Every time I click print in Pages I get the beach ball and my mac freezes.

I just updated to the newest version of pages and every time I click print in pages I get the beach ball and my mac freezes. Any suggestions on fixing this? I've tried shutting down and restarting several times...nothing seems to be working and I'm loosing/wasting time trying to fix this...

    Hey there nmiller0528,
It sounds like you are unable to print from Pages at all from your computer. I want to recommend troublehsooting the Mac OS for print issues with this article named:
Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3147
Follow these steps until the issue is addressed:
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Every time that i click somewhere "ads by name" pop up!PLZ help me . i done everything and still ads everywhere.

i downloaded like every anti - malware/adware/spyware and none of this found the problem. they are all saying that my pc is ok! i also used avg and bitdefender antivirus. i found that "ads by name" is my problem and that is very bad and that i have to delete it by control panel/uninstall programms but i can't find it there.
firefox is full by ads and pop ups in about 3 seconds(2-3 ads and pop ups in every click i make)
i hope you know something more
    looking forward your answer
    thank you in advance
    P.S. please,excuse my english

These unwanted ads are injected into web pages where they don't usually appear? The most likely culprit is a bad add-on.
Here's my suggested procedure for tracking down and cleaning up bad add-ons and other ad injectors. I know it seems long, but it's not that bad.
    (1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
    (2) Open Firefox's '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click '''Plugins'''. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click '''Extensions'''. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Any improvement?
    (3) You can search for remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.
    Success?

Every single time i click the mouse or begin to type i get the colour wheel. I have Mac Keeper and have runs scans, all okay and now mac keeper wont open at all. It even takes a couple of minutes to quit apps and even to shut down. HELP!!!

To build on you main question, i would take a look at this:
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation.  TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible;  Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided.  Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc.  Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Backuplist
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    iBackup
    JaBack
    Silver Keeper
    MimMac
    Retrospect
    Super Flexible File Synchronizer
    SuperDuper!
    Synchronize Pro! X
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
If you still are not happy with performance then consider reinstalling Snow Leopard:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

  • How can I stop my screen saver preferences pane from freezing up? every time i try to access it I get the spinning beach ball. Running 10.8.4

Every time I open the desktop/screensaver pane in system preferences it freezes. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

That's caused by a bug in automatic login, which corrupts the Desktop settings file, so delete it.
Open a Finder window, select Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type ~/Library/Preferences. Then, delete "com.apple.desktop.plist" and "com.apple.systempreferences.plist", and restart. OS X will create a new Desktop file in the next startup

  • Hi. I have rented and downloaded a film from the iTunes store but every time I try to play it I get the message: An unknown error occurred (-42110).  Please try again later. I've been trying for two days!

Can anybody help me with the above question? There doesn't seem to be an email address for simple queries about services that don't work!

Perhaps try the "Error 3001," "-42110," or "5103" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

I've read through a ton of the discussions on this already, but none of the answers have helped. It's happening with every website I try to access. I'd really appreciate any tips or help.
