Everyday around 3 to 4 PM all RDP sessions (around 50) getting disconnected

Hi,
We have a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server (workgroup) with SQL Server and C# application installed on the same terminal server.
Around 50 users access this terminal server. Since 15 days, everyday between 3PM to 4 PM, all the 50 user sessions gets dicsonnected at the same time and without anything done on the server, users can RDP again and work without any problems.
Verified event logs, terminal server logs, network, firewall, router etc. everything is working fine.
Only thing observed is, when RDP sessions gets disconnected, we see PING time out.
Any help to address this issue is appreciated.
Raghuveer.

Hi this is the error, users are experiencing.
The session won't go into disconnect status, it stays ACTIVE only in the terminal server.
User session freezes for 5 to 15 seconds and the same RDP session continues to work without any manual intervention.
Is this network issue ? We ruled out network cable, routers problems if any in both client and server locations.
Error: Reconnecting
The connection has been lost..Attempting to reconnect to your session...

Enabled following :

  • Disabling Local machine trackpad in RDP session

    Hello!
I'm having an issue with users in my network.  Haha!
I've got some users who prefer an external mouse to their laptop's trackpad, which I have no problem with.  However, many of these users have issues with typing while not touching the trackpad.
I've been IT Director since the beginning of July and have received several complaints of "My mouse keeps jumping around like crazy."
So, being the nice guy that I am, I disabled the trackpad on the local machines for these users.  Unfortunately, this setting hasn't translated to their RDP session into the terminal server (Server 2012 Standard) that hosts our EMR software (where most
users actually do most of their work).
Long story short, my question is how can I disable the local machine's trackpad in an RDP session to a terminal server for specific users?
I thought maybe a Group Policy item could fix the issue, but not all users in the group use an alternative to the trackpad and not all of the users that are having these issues are in the same group.
Also, all laptops are Dells, but different models, so possibly different trackpads/drivers.
I've done quite a bit of searching and stumbled onto other forums, but found nothing to even point me in the right direction, so any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Which version of server\client OS using in your environment?
From your description it seems that you are facing issue with specific users, so for that you need to disable the track pad manually and GPO can’t apply over that. In addition, I want to say that please use client RDP 8.1 for better feature.
If you are using server 2008 R2, then please try to update KB 2579381 and check the result.
    Hope it helps!

  • Can't full-screen RDP session window?

Hi, I'm using Win7 to RDP to an AWS WinServer2012 box. I need to view RDP session full screen. Checked RDP -> Display configuration, which is set to Full Screen. My machine's resolution is set to 1680x1050.
I checked the Screen Resolution on the server and see "The display settings can't be changed from a remote session." Also, resolution shows a greyed-out 1280x705, under which is a ! Your resolution is lower than 1024 x 768. Some items might not
fit and apps might not open.
    Any leads?
    Thanks,

    Hi Scott,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
First of all suggest you to increase RDP version of client windows 7 to RDP 8.1. in addition for a try you can change the .RDP file setting and check whether you can use full screen in remote desktop session. For this you need to change the desktop height and
weight under .RDP file as below.
    desktopwidth:i:<set to screen width>
    desktopheight:i:<set to screen height>
Kindly go through beneath article for detail.

  • How to do Regional Setting Configuration in RDP session ( Eg Date Format, Currency, Decimal Seperator etc)

    Hi All,
I am new to Windows Server 2008 R2 administration.
I would like to know is there a way to  do Regional Setting Configuration in RDP session. i.e Date Format, Currency, Decimal Separator etc are based on users local machine.
Eg If a user from UK logs in he should see date format as DD/MM/YY and if user from US logs in he should date format as MM/DD/YY.
We are currently using citrix and we are managing this using logon script that runs based on citrix published application name.
Is there any way we can achieve the same in RDP ?
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Terminal Server Session Management: why do we need a rdp session to take control of a terminal session?

    Hi all,
As title, I have this question: why do we need a rdp session to take remote control of a terminal server session?
I copied tsadmin and related file to a windows 8.1 pc and I'm able to see for every terminal server the list of users logged in, but the option "take control" is greyed out... why? is not possible to avoid this block?
    Thanks in advance
    Davide

    Hello, Davide_ita.
Also tried to use RDSM to "Remote Control" user's sessions, but in this thread
    Remote Control
with Remote Desktop Services Manager - error Access is denied (Windows Server 2012 R2)
I get the recommendation to use RDP or Remote Assistance.
    The quote of
    TP []:
    Hi,
You cannot remote control a session on a 2012 R2 RDSH server using Remote Desktop Services Manager.  You need to use the RDP 8.1 mstsc.exe or the RDS gui in Server Manager on 2012 R2.  The command you would use with the RDP 8.1 client would be
    this:
    mstsc /shadow:<sessionid> /control
    -TP

  • RDP Session not showing redirected printers.

I have a very weird issue and can't seem to find a fix..
I have a user on a XP pc who connects to server via RDP.. all the settings are correct on his pc from what i can tell, but he can't see his local printers from the RDP session.
I know thing are fine on the server side are set correctly, because if we connect to the server from another XP pc in the office, using the same credentials.. he can see the printers in the RDP session, so we know it is not the server or his user profile,
but something to do with his PC specifically.
I have checked every setting that i can think of, and have searched the web, but I have had no success.
Any suggestions... short of reinstalling/upgrading the OS?

  • Cisco ISE NAC Agent RDP session

Is there a way to get the NAC Agent to run when a user logs on a Windows machine in a RDP session?

You have to go and check the dACL that is part of authorization profile, you will find that it is blocking your RDP access as when you do a remote desktop your authentication token is host/machine-name.domain. Now, the easiest FIX to permit RDP traffic is to modify the dACL but this won't solve your problem. Why? Because now your dACL will allow you do a remote desktop now BUT it will block rest of your communication.
So either you permit all as soon as your machine is authenticated or you will continue to face this issue.

  • Flash video in RDP session

I have a problem, we have installed a VDI solution that uses Wyse V10L clients. The clients make an RDP connection to a virtual desktop and then is presented with a desktop environment.
From this RDP session we have made every attempt to get Flash based videos working, however the quality is very poor. We are experiencing delays in video and audio. We have installed all of the recommended TCX Multimedia packages, published by Wyse, even the Beta Re-distributer product and the quality has not been improved.
Can anyone advise how Adobe intend to combat the problem with running Flash video (youtube) via RDP?

    Hi Daniel,
Actually, there is a method to improve the display of Flash video in RDP sessions. Ericom Blaze is a software-based RDP acceleration AND compression product that improves video response over WAN and congested LANs. Besides delivering higher frame rates and reducing screen freezes and choppiness, Blaze accelerates RDP performance by up to 10-25 times higher, while significantly reducing network bandwidth consumption over low-bandwidth/high latency connections.
Ericom Blaze works with any standard RDP host, including VDI, Terminal Servers and remote physical machines.

  • Windows 2008 R2 not registering logon events to 2003 RDP sessions

    Hi,
I have few windows 2008 R2 terminal servers which I use to RDP into other 2008/2003 servers.
The audit policy for logon/logoff event for success of failure is setup for all servers via group policy.
I've noticed when I log on to any 2003 server from 2008 terminal server there is no logon/log off event generated on the 2008 server.  There is related events on 2003 servers. This does not happen when I log on to 2008 servers from 2008 server.
there is a related event created on both side.
Any idea why there is no even created for 2008 to 2003 rdp sessions?
    Thanks in advance

when pre-authentication is used, events are registered on both ends: client, when pre-authentication occurs and server, when client is completely authenticated on the server.
    > on the 2008 terminal server when RDP into 2003 from 2008,
you should see, because starting with Windows Server 2008, RDP client always performs pre-authentication.

  • Cannot print from a rdp session on a local printer

    Hi,
I think it is a stupid issue but I cannot see it...
So far here is what I have seen:
    - I have a windows server 2008R2 which is used for connect clients using RDP.
    - Clients are not in the same building so they need to be able to print on local printer.
Problem is: even if I am able to see the redirection of my local printer on the RDP session and click on the "printing test page", well nothing happen. No errors, no trouble, just nothing at all, and still, I do not have my copy.
However, when I try to print a "Nozzle check" (on a Ricoh printer) for testing print condition, it works...
Hope you will be able to help me.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Does the printer physically connects to your client computer and it can work properly?
What is OS version of your client computer?
Ensure that the spooler service is running on both the client and Server. Please also check the firewall & ports between target server and client.
Have you try to use Microsoft RDS Universal printing solution and check the result. More information from following link.

Apart from this, there is one hotfix available might resolve your issue.

  • Certificate prompt in RDP session and then puts an Allow/Deny option on another users session

The users have a SSL cert installed with the private key so they can access a certain web site and when they access the site using the Windows 2012 R2 RDP server they are getting prompted with a Windows Security dialogue (Confirmation Certificate) and they
press ok. Another user will now get the next message asking if to allow or deny access to the cert. If they click allow the web site will appear for the original user.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Can you clarify the actual error message you are getting? Also please let us know, whether there is any event log available.
Seems that you have not placed the certificate under Local Computer\Personal Store. Kindly recheck the configuration related to certificate and please keep the certificate under above path with its private key and verify. You can follow below steps for information.
    • Open the MMC and open the      Certificates snapin
    • Add the Local Computer
    • Import the certificate into      Computer\Personal
    • Open the certificate and find      the thumbprint on the details tab. Copy the thumbprint to notepad and      delete all the spaces.
    • Open up an elevated PowerShell      prompt and write:
    • wmic      /namespace:\\root\cimv2\TerminalServices PATH Win32_TSGeneralSetting Set      SSLCertificateSHA1Hash=”‎PASTE_THUMBPRINT_STRING”
    • You can check the certificate      by running:
    • Get-WmiObject -class      “Win32_TSGeneralSetting” -Namespace root\cimv2\terminalservices -Filter      “TerminalName=’RDP-tcp'”

  • TTA to WTS2003 RDP session

we have a problem with RDP sessions on a WTS

server sends a FIN -- but
no FIN comes from the WTS -- after a few seconds the TTA send a RST; the

Could you tell us how you found out is was a Client License issue.
Unfortunately we do not see anything in the eventlogs so a suggestion in

  • My AppleTV won't connect to iTunes library after RDP session

I use a computer to hosts a few different services.  First, the computer acts as my media server.  iTunes has all of my media loaded up and my AppleTVs connect to it to stream media.  I also use this machine to host remote desktop sessions when I am away from home.  It appears that after an RDP session, I am unable to connect to the iTunes library using my AppleTVs.  I need to restart iTunes to get connectivity back.
Has anyone had any prior experience with this or have any suggestions for a fix?

    Lisa,
I have pretty much the same problem.  My Mac (7 days old) was working with the Apple TV just fine but tonight it will not do AirPlay nor will Apple TV play home share with the Mac either. Rebooting has no effect.  Same error you are getting.   When I try to play music (AirPlay) it is weak and intermittent at best and often simply does not play at all.
My ASUS laptop still works just fine as normal so Apple TV seems to be working just fine.   Now I am wondering why I spent so much money on the Mac.

  • More then 2 RDP sessions

    Hi All,
We have a WS 2012 R2 DEV server setup on the domain for developers to work on. They remote to the server but do so more then 2 people at a time and the server only allows 2 RDP sessions to the server at a time. How do I get the server to accept lets say
5 simultaneous sessions at one time?
If there is a step-by-step guide out there somewhere as to how to configure this I would greatly appreciate it
    Thanks in advance

The two sessions that you can use are allowed only for management of the system.  So even for those two sessions, technically, you need to purchase Remote Desktop Services CALs.  But, as Gleb says, if you want more than two to access, that means
you need to set up a Remote Desktop environment.  Here is where you can read more about that -
