Everyday Life with

I previously owned a Zen Xtra 30 gig and it was good but then I think my friend played around with it and might have dropped it. I also had run with it a little. There was a harddisk problem and my mom threw it out (could have sold it for parts). Now I have ZMP and I am extremely carefully and when I say extremely, I mean extremely. I am afraid of running or even walking fast with it because it is a micro dri've player. I never put it in my pocket because it might get bumped a few times. I just don't want this thing to brake on me. I won't jog, jump or anything when I have the ZMP with me. Should I loosen up a little or just keep being careful? This is the only aspect of the ZMP that I don't enjoy.

For running, brisk walking, jogging and other forms of outdoor activities, a flash-based player is essential as it do not contain any moving parts. For hard dri've players, only suitable for normal usage. I myself own a ZMP and i'm also very careful about it. Yesterday it fell from my pouch while walking but fortunately was saved from hitting the ground from my earphones wires.

  • Can't play to Second Life with a Satellite l850 1rz

If anybody could help me I would be grateful... I tried to play Second Life with my new laptop Satellite L850 1rz and the viewer says that the drivers of the graphic card (AMD Radeon 7670M) are not installed properly, are out of date or the hardware it's incompatible (it shouldn't be by the requeriments).... I tried to install the newest drivers from the amd page but it don't let me... Could I fix it?? and (if yes) how??
(I still don't know if the graphic card will cause me more problems, I just recieved the laptop )

That doesn't appear to be a US model, and this is the forums for Toshiba USA. You may want to contact Toshiba in your region. If it's a European model, you could check the Toshiba Europe forums.

This isn't an issue. Notice the screen prior to the one that shows usage has an iCloud section and a Manage Storage button. For this button to activate ios needs to download a few kb from icloud. Switching back to this screen forces ios to download those few kb.

    Hi,
Thanks to Caetano, Kumar & Mani..

    1) In a plant list all material with given material type
    2) Execute the BAPI for find out the characteristic value of EXB_MRP from class
    type 001of material class (BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL_KEY)
    3) If EXB_MRP = Y , then list out all such material.
    4) For such a material identity those batches which are available in stock other
    than ‘9999’
    5) All such batches characteristic of shelf life expiry date need to be derived

  • What is the Nano 6th gen battery life with nikeplus and itunes running together

Thinking about buying a 6th gen Nano- what is the batt life with Nike+ and iTunes running together?

Mine is about 4 hours, but I'm not sure if that's typical or if I have a defective battery.

  • IPhone 3gs Battery life with 3.1 firmware

Any news regarding battery life with firmware 3.1???? I have lost at a minimum 25% after upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.1. Have reset....the device alone and with iTunes....Need help...

I originally posted this in the wrong discussion...
Since upgrading to 3.1, it looks like the biggest battery drain is due to using PUSH with my Exchange email. I can turn off PUSH, use FETCH (even over 30 minute polling intervals) and battery life is close to 24 hours on a charge. Turning on PUSH, but not using it for email (other than my .Mac account (MobileMe), decreases the life by a couple of hours, still well beyond the normal 10 hour work day.
Turning PUSH on for 3 Exchange folders (Inbox and 2 sub folders) results in a drastic reduction in battery life. It can use over 50% charge while on standby... over a 3 hour period. I've managed this to an acceptable (8-12 hours, depending on phone calls) by limiting using Exchange rules to keep most important email to the Inbox and one sub-folder (I may eventually leave all important stuff to the Inbox) and move other stuff into different folders that I can still check on occasion.
Other PUSH activities, using apps like BeejiveIM, AP News, MLB.com, i.TV and even .Mac don't seem to affect the phones battery life too badly.
I'm wondering if Exchange w/PUSH is doing too much, besides listening for new mail and alerting on it. Could the process be simplified to only listen, alert, and mayby increment the count (not downloading headers or message bodies until one actually checks for messages... the iPhone still polls once you open a mail folder anyway).

  • If this is any indication of life with AT&T Digital Life, then No Thanks!

Signed up for the highly recommended AT&T Digital Life to upgrade security system after almost 8 years with ADT. Became highly frustrated by the inadequate customer service AT&T Digital Life has provided. After our experience with AT&T, as outlined below, we have lost all confidence in AT&T and its Digital Life service and will be looking to remain with ADT or consider other competitors, such as Verizon. No coordination within sales. Called on May 22 to secure new multi-package security service (touchscreen door lock, multi-cameras, and water monitoring); installation was scheduled for the 8 am - 12 pm window on June 26. Received several calls from other sales reps on the same day looking to sell the same service.Sales rep misspelled last name (same name/spelling as a well-known product). The equipment was delivered to my office but my name was misspelled on the shipping label; also never received the email to register the new account in preparation of the install. Called AT&T support; rep confirmed that my name, and hence email, was misspelled in the system and could not be changed until the day of install by the tech. Rep managed to resend the registration link to the correct email address.1st No-show on day of install- June 26, 8 am-12 pm. Husband took the day off from work. At 2:30, 3 pm, no word from AT&T, called for an ETA. Support rep couldn’t find the account and put me on hold; hung up after 9 minutes without a word. Checked our home voicemail of which there were 3 messages from AT&T left the day before: one around 12:30 pm to confirm the appointment, one around 2 pm to cancel the appointment, and the last around 5:30 pm to confirm the appointment. Logged onto the Digital Life account to check the status of the install - reported that the install was to occur on June 26 as scheduled. Called AT&T support back expressing frustration over the whole ordeal. Second rep found the account under my cell number; said the cancellation was due to no available techs for the install. She also confirmed that the install order only had the home number and not my cell number as I’d provided to the sales rep for install updates and registered as my contact number on the account. Rep followed up with dispatch and rescheduled the install appointment for the next day, June 26, during the 1-4 pm window and provided the appointment confirmation number. Rep transferred me to billing for conciliation request due to inconvenience. Billing rep noted adjustment on account at first billing cycle. Spent 40 minutes dealing with AT&T on this while at work.2nd no-show on day of install-June 27, 1-4 pm. Again, no word of an ETA from AT&T. Called support at 2:30 pm for status. Rep could only find account under cell number. Rep followed up with dispatch and then reported that, since the install takes 7 hours, it was too late to proceed with the install as scheduled—beyond frustrated. Was transferred to dispatch rep who provided the next available date as August 3. Totally unacceptable! Told rep that if the install doesn’t happen on July 3, which encroaches on our holiday weekend plans, we will terminate the service and that husband and I will not take another day off from work to have a no-show from AT&T. Dispatch rep said he was sending emails to field managers alerting them of the situation and the urgent request. Again, was transferred to billing for conciliation request due to inconvenience. Billing rep noted 2 months credit on account to take place at first billing cycle. At around 6:30 pm, got a call from a field manager offering apologies and noting efforts to get install on schedule for July 3.To say the least, we’re about done with AT&T!

  • Battery life with mountain lion 10 8 1.. Still awful

After my update from version 10.8 to 10.8.1 , batter life has NOT improved as many have speculated.
I ran the following two tests on a MBP ( mid 2009) 10.8 1 after installing....
    -Time to discharge from 100% to 50% remaing - 1h 54 m.
    -Time to re-charge to 100% - 2 hr 11 m
I went back and compared these with data gather from ver. 10.8.0. The results were litterally seconds apart. So SOMEWHERE, we've lost about 3HOURS !From  OS/x 8 and more from SL 7.6.8 ... ***!!!
What's up with that ? A loss OS 10.8.1 of 3-ish hours?? That's a long time with a full day on campus...
    Help !!!

Sorry for the late in responding.
In fact, just today, I sent a note to my contact at Apple informing him that 10.8.2 had not solved my battery problem.
Even after two discharge, charge, cycles, full charge is indicated at 97%, with 1h:04m time available (new 9 mos ago was on the order of 5h.)
In addition, I now have a persistent "service battery" warning flag.
When I hear more from apple, or if I replace the battery, I will report back here.

  • Pick up metal objects with zen micro headphones? battery life with firmware 1.02

    hey all
just purchased my zen micro couple days ago.
the package we got here in downunder is satifying. included were the wired remote and also the stand/case with belt clip. these were the only reasons that made me choose this over the ipod mini.
this has not occurred to me until tonight, but the headphones seems to act as magnets and were stuck to each other as the phones were dangling
i never noticed this happening with other phones
also the battery life of my zen was horrendous. its lasted 5 hrs with eq and smart volume on. the zen was on hold the whole time as the actions were controlled by the wired remote.
this was with the firmware that was shipped with the player .0.03 i believe
have just updated the firmware now, and will be testing the battery life to see if the problem is rectified.
if not, then an exhange for an ipod is inevitable.

Yep, SV is a battery killer, around a 50% drop in life has been meaured and the effect is known to be pretty negligible.
And as others have said, them headphones have magnets in, like pretty much any speaker

  • What can I do to save my battery life with the new ios 7.3 update

I Loved the ios 7.3 update. My battery lasted for the whole day and I use my phone a lot. I did the ios 7.3 update yesterday and my battery life is horrible. With 2 hours into my day today I was down to 80% battery and I hardly used my phone at all. I love my iphone, but this update was a horrible mistake for Apple!

Thank God that I am not the only one who lost battery life in 7.0.3.
I haven't changed settings from 7.0.0 to now. So I am not going to change settings. With that said my brightness is always at about half or lower, depending on the ambient light. Bluetooth is always off. LTE has always been on since I bought the 5 last year. Wifi stays on, connected or not. So with all these settings as they are, there has been a huge difference in battery life from 7.0.2 to 7.0.3.
I could swear that I went from 100% to 83% charge while I slept for 7 hours. ***??? Really?
I'll test it out again tonight.
I am at work and I turned off LTE for s&g. And still saw 5% drop in 40 minutes with a 2 or 3 minute use.

  • Rich capture your life with Lumia Denim

If you are an owner of the Lumia 830*, Lumia 930, Lumia 1520 or Lumia Icon, the Lumia Denim update brings you an updated Lumia Camera with fast start-up and capture speeds and the latest imaging innovations that help you capture the best shot. Every time.
We’ve already showed you what you can do with Moment Capture – one of the new features that come with Lumia Camera, allowing you to shoot high-definition video and high-quality images quickly and easily.
But there is also Rich Capture, giving you auto HDR (High Dynamic Range), Dynamic Flash and Dynamic Exposure to really simplify the picture taking process. With Rich Capture, you can shoot first, and edit and select the best shot later.
Let’s do a quick walk through on how Rich Capture works in practice.
    Set the scene
Set the flash to auto mode (recommended) and enable the Rich Capture feature by selecting the magic wand within the Lumia Camera app. And then let the camera do the rest!
With Rich Capture switched on, the camera adapts to the scene and captures and merges multiple images simultaneously with auto HDR and dynamic flash and exposure settings. This means that the camera will select the best settings for you so that you’ll get the best possible picture. And the great thing is you can adjust the settings after you’ve taken the image.
To do that, select the image you’ve taken with Rich Capture from the Camera Roll and activate the editing options by touching anywhere in the image and selecting “Edit Rich Capture”. Depending on the scene and the settings applied by the camera, you’ll either get Dynamic Flash, Dynamic Exposure or HDR editing options.
    Dynamic Flash
The Dynamic Flash feature captures images automatically with and without flash, allowing you to decide how to remember the scene by choosing the amount of flash used in the shot, after it has been taken.
    HDR
In situations where you are shooting a high-contrast scene with a lot of light and dark areas, the auto HDR kicks in. The HDR captures all the details, and allows you to create a more dramatic effect by blending multiple images with different exposure levels.
    Dynamic Exposure
If you find yourself in low-light scenes and you have the flash off, the Dynamic Exposure automatically captures a short and long exposure image, allowing you to dynamically blend the two exposures afterwards.
*Lumia 830 can rich capture too
If you have a Lumia 830 and want to make the most of the latest Lumia Camera features, you need to get an additional over-the-air update of the Lumia Denim software, which came pre-installed on your phone. The new Lumia Camera application with Rich capture will be automatically installed with the over-the-air update.
We’re actively rolling out the Lumia Denim update and you can check the availability for your country and operator here.

  • Battery life with os x 10.8? Dies SO fast?

So I just upgraded to os x 10.8.0 today and when I initially bought my macbook pro, the battery life was kinda already pretty bad. It's a 2009 model that I bought off of ebay and the user said he had replaced the battery 2 months ago (so around April or so). He said that the battery would last 5-6 hours with average use (surfing the web, youtube, facebook, etc.). He completed wiped the hard drive clean before sending me the laptop and when I got it, I installed Snow Leopard and the battery life was CRAP. it lasted me maybe 3.5-4 hours. So i emailed him and he said that he had the most recent operating system before, but he wiped it clean to send to me and included the snow leopard installation discs. So, I searched it on google and everywhere and I still don't know why. I thought that upgrading to 10.8 would help, but it's exactly the same. My laptop is currently on the lowest brightness before it goes completely black, I'm watching a youtube vid, on facebook, and typing this. My battery went from 100% to 86% in 30 minutes. 30 minutes! That's ridiculous! Would upgrading to 10.8.1 or 10.8.2 or even to mountain lion help?? I don't know what to do!!

    Hello,
    Thanks for your suggestions.
    I've resolved this problem.
As i guessed, the cable connection between the samsung lcd monitor and the mac mini was the source of the problem.
I bought a DVI cable, right on replacing the D-Sub cable into new DVI one, it's gone.
I feel lucky because i don't know what was the exact problem but it's fixed.

  • How to expand battery life with iOS5 on iPhone 3GS, it's shorter than before?

I upgraded to iOS 5 and since then the battery doesn't seem to last that long any more. Are there any settings I could change to improve that?

Just as a heads up -- I've been out all day for the last two days with my 3G without recharging, and I still have a half-full charge at the end of the day with bluetooth on (though not paired all the time) with Wi-Fi on, and with three or four hours of internet and music usage a day. I don't fetch data, but have it set to check e-mail every 15 minutes. And it has been on 3G the entire time...it doesn't run down as fast as some people might think -- in fact, it is a lot longer battery life than any other 3G phone I have owned from ATT.

  • BATTERY LIFE WITH MACBOOK PRO/LOGIC

wondering who is using a Macbook Pro while running Logic?
i posted in an Apple Forum a few days ago, and some people have said that they can get up to 4 hours of life from their battery. i just bought my machine in January, so i find it hard to believe that my battery could need replacing already?
if im using this computer strictly for Logic and audio production, can anyone recommend which battery setting in my preferences i should select?

With battery life, you either optimise for time (low performance), or high performance (less time).
Logic is a performance based app, and so if you are using plugins and so on, you are working your CPU hard and therefore going to run the battery down quicker.
Really, for Logic, I really recommend running on the power supply for the most part.

  • Hard disk life with frequent data write and read

    Dear All,
Can you kindly advise on the effect of frequent write / read on shortening of (ordinary low-cost, 80 to 250G, office desktop PC type) hard disk life.
File size is IMAQ iamge file (300k byte)
1000 wite / read per day  for 1 day in a week   (6 days low activity, 1 day busy)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it should be no problem, from a life time point of view, it averages to ~150 a day over a week. Of more concern will be that you will probably start having disk fragmentation issues in a fairly short period, where continuous blocks of disk space become harder to find and the data then has to be spread over numerous locations on the drive. One end result of this is increased drive activity as the heads have to be moved all over to recover a file's data. Drives these days get a pretty good workout, with people storing thousands of MP3 music file, videos, digital camera pictures. Particularly with the MP3's they will have a lot of files that get accessed frequently. The drive, depending on O/S, will also get a lot of "random" activity, particularly if you have an indexing program such as Google desktop, running. Watch the HD light on your machine for a while and you will see it start blinking like crazy every so often when apparently nothing is running.  Of course if the files you are saving are critical they should be backed up regularly to some other drive or media.
