Everything associated ipod freezes when it connects to my computer

Hi, when I connect my ipod classic to the computer I get an error message saying something is corrupted and that it's recommended to repair it. However it takes extremely long time so I ignore it.
When I connect it now everything associated with it freezes. Explorer.exe freezes when  i try to access it from my computer, Itunes freezes and other products as well.
I've tried resetting it to fabric settings and I've changed the hard drive (it was pretty fried)
I still can't do anything, it has no songs as well.
I'm in vain please help

It does not work. I restored it and synched it again. At first it works fine, I can synch music and play it from the Ipod, but after I've synched about 1 gb of music everything freezes, and when I close the computer to be able to let it go (the only way, everything's frozen) the Ipod acts like there's no music, even though it shows as having some storage when viewing from My Computer (which is also freezes)
I turned the HD in for service (actually going back, they're giving me my money back since it didn't solve the problem) and I'm pretty certain they did their job.

When I connect my iPod (actually, two different iPods) to my computer, it instantly freezes. It is not recognized by iTunes and I can't detect it in My Computer. If I connect to a different computer, it works fine. I tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes, but that didn't help

my ipod is freezing up and all i see on the screen is where i was when i connected the ipod to the computer, i.e if i am in the album flow, the screen will freeze on there and i cant do anything to get it unfrozen except reset my ipod using the up and center button

  • Ipod freeze when I connect, restart not working

When I plug the ipod into my computer it showes the normal "Do not disconnect" thing in the ipod... In windows it apears that I have connected a usb-device. But explorer, iTunes or iPod updater can find the device. Then I disconnect the iPod, but the ipod keep saying "do not disconnect". When I'm restart the ipod (select + menu) it works fine until I connect it to the computer
If u have an idea of how to solve this problem plz reply...

I'm having the same problem, and nothing seems to work. This problem happened to me during Ipod Updater (i tried to restore) and then ipod updater froze, so being my stupid self, I removed the ipod.

  • My itunes freezes when I connect my ipod....help!!

I have installed the new update (Windows 8 64 bit)  & my itunes freezes when I connect my ipod.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

it started when i've connected my ipod to itunes and I just plugged it out when it was syncronizing.

And now every time I connnect my ipod classic my itunes freezes. I've installed itunes on my new computer but it keeps doing nothing..
I've tried the support pages from apple but I just can't fix this problem, please help.

  • My ipod nano 3 freezes when i connect it to my pc?

my ipod nano 3 freezes when i connect it to my pc, i have to reset it so it gets recognised. this is abit annoying, so is their anyway to fix this problem ?
    PS:I have ipod nano 4gb G3

I have resolved this problem for me. I initially deleted and reinstalled iTunes and deleted any redundant programs which might have been creating a conflict (I have children who install all kinds of rubbish) Someone else had found a USB program conflict and I think my problem was around a conflict with the USB ports. I removed a printer connection which was (unusually) connected via a port next to the ipod connection and plugged the ipod in via a different port and bingo - all is well.

  • Computer freezes when i connect ipod mini 4gb

i have a problem with my ipod mini 4gb (2nd gen.) for like 2months, it freezes when i connect it to my windows computer.
i tried to reset my ipod en reinstal itunes, but nothing worked. PLEASE HELP!

Hmm... See, I've tried that already (And just tried it again) and instead of allowing me to run it, the computer freezes entirely, just as it would if the "Restart your computer" message came up, only it doesn't show the text, and nor does the screen dim. The only thing I can do at that point is hold down the power button, thusly shutting the computer down. So I cannot restore my iPod that way. Are there any other ways? Or does anyone perhaps have any other suggestions?

  • IPOD freeze when connect to Mac

have a 80 gig 5th gen IPOD and every time I connect it to my Mac (OS X) it freezes.
The computer seems to recognize something it's being attached but it doesn't show up in Itunes and the "Do Not Disconnect" pops up on the IPOD. However, it will flash once and then freeze up. I have to restart the IPOD while it's connected to the computer to get it working and connected.
This is a MAJOR pain. Does anyone know a solution to this?
Software on both sides is up to date.

I have the same problem with mine - 5th generation. I can get it to reset by unhooking it from the computer "even though it says do not disconnect." Then I push and hold the wheel and menu buttons. That may take a couple of tries. I get it to reset. But can't hook up to iTunes and download new songs and books. It will charge though. Not sure what is going on. I have the latest update etc. Just started doing this in July. Wish someone would post the reason and the fix.

"Connect to a computer. Use iTunes to restore."  When I connect to a computer, iTunes doesn't recognise it.  The iPod 5th Gen does not work at all. How do I fix my iPod without losing any data?
I have seen the Apple webpage suggesting the "five R's" (including restore).  Before doing anything, I want to be sure that restoring or any other action is not going to delete or risk my data.
I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest a fix for this problem, in a way that will not risk my data.
    Thanks in advance!

Did you try a hard reset with the iPod still connected to your PC?  Have you tried multiple USB ports, preferably high powered USB 2.0 ports?
To do a hard reset, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Have you also worked through each and every single troubleshooting suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • Itunes 10.1 Freezes when i connect my 32GB iPhone 3GS

Ever Since i updated my iTunes this morning it freezes when i connect the phone. When i unplug it it comes back. There are times that when i re plug it after a bit it works. My phone was acting up so I decided to restore it. But then i get the same problem again so i couldn't restore from back up. I been trying to figure out the solution to this problem since 7 AM in the morning EST. I been looking around the forums for similar problems but it didn't help. I followed steps from apple on this page: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/#section_7
That didn't help either. I been repeating all these steps plus more multiple times and nothing solved it. It just keeps freezing. I even Called out of work today just trying to Fix this dumb issue cause i can't be with out my phone PLEASE HELP!!

I'm not sure what's causing this, but it has just started happening to me too. It has been happening with both my iPhone 4 and my wife's iPhone 3GS, but more with the 3GS.
I thought rebooting the machine had fixed the problem, but it happened again this morning.
A workaround that has worked successfully for me is this:
With iTunes not running, plug in the phone. iTunes should then start on its own and start syncing properly. If it doesn't start automatically, start it manually (with the phone already plugged in) and the sync should start. But starting it first and then plugging in the phone doesn't seem to work.
    I'm running iTunes 10.1.2.17.
    Edit:
Okay, I think I just got lucky with the suggestion above to plug in the phone with iTunes not running. That's not working for me anymore. What does work pretty consistently (though not always) it starting or restarting iTunes manually after the plug has already been plugged in. This may mean killing it from the task manager if it's frozen, or waiting for the freezing to wear off (which it does eventually, even though it never recognizes the device or starts a sync).

  • Please help. ive bought a second hand ipod nano, when i connect it to my  pc it recognises it as a sigma mass usb device, yet its a 8gb ipod nano, and i tunes does not recognise it, im running on windows vista basic yet my own 80g classic ipod runs perfect

please help. ive bought a second hand ipod nano, when i connect it to my pc, it does not recognise it in itunes, yet it comes up as a sigma mass usb device. its an ipod nano 8gb?. im running on windows vista,my own ipod classic runs fine.

there is a good chance that this can be related to bad contact in USB lead.. e.g not enough power from IPOD to PC so that pc cannot recognise it. Where I work I get alot of USB devices on pc's that are not recognised and most of the time it is the connection to the device that is not good enough because the flat end of the USB adapter has been gradually bent over time just slightly and now contact is not good. It can also be todo with drivers or If you are using it through a USB hub.
so if it is not working through USB hub try direct. also try in back of PC as these Ports or direct access to main board to pc and would be less trouble some if there was a voltage loss from mainboard in pc to front of unit.

I recently bought an Ipod touch 2nd gen, (Ebay). It's in great shape and seemed to be wiped clean.
When I connect (via windows computer) to Itunes with usb cord the Ipod icon shows, but the only function you can do is eject. When its in the upper right hand corner and you click on it all you get is a done button, when it's in the side bar right click and your only option is eject, left click has no effect. If I go to "file">devices it's as if there are no devices connected.
I purchased a song with Itunes on the Ipod itself, and it transferred to my library on the computer automatically .
I have an Iphone 5 and a nano that are still functioning with Itunes thru computer so I'm thinking the issue is with the Ipod touch. I've reset it several times, rebooted it, with no change.
nothing on the internet has helped, I called tech support and got disconnected. Should I take it to a retail store? I just don't know where to go next, I'm of course willing to pay for tech or repair. looking for suggestions.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
