Everything disappeared

I have lost all my address book contacts, music & photos as well all safari history n favorites. I have all the files still saved but when you open any of these apps there is nothing there. It is like I never used them before. They are not in trash either. I don't know how this has happened i know i can get my photos back into my iphoto but i can't find my contact to get them back and i did something i saw on another forum about renaming addressbook.data.previous & addressbook.data but that didn't do squat. Please help.

Here is my paraphrase of Apple's Knowledgebase article that I cited, customized for your situation, in which you moved your home directory, rather than renamed it:
If you determine that your old home folder is present but moved, you could follow these steps:
1) Locate the "home" folder that you moved (it probably won't have a "house" icon at this point). You'll need to be able to move back shortly.
2) In the Finder, open the "Macintosh HD" icon and open the "Users" folder inside it. There should be a folder that has your "short" login name. This folder will have a "house" icon. Be sure to write down this name exactly.
3) Change the name of the "home" folder inside the "Users" folder by adding "xxx" (without the quotes) to the end of the folder's name.
4) Assuming that you only moved (but did not rename) the original "home" folder that you located in step 1, now drag that folder back into the "Users" folder that you opened in step 2. If you've done everything right so far, there should be at least two folders in the "Users" folder: one will have your short login name; the other will have your short login name with xxx tacked on the end of it.
5) Go to the Apple Menu and Log out and then log back in with your normal login name.
This is my best paraphrase of Apple's advice, given what I understand happened in your situation. Since your situation may vary from what you have described, I won't guarantee that these steps will work without other consequences. If you are uncertain about what to do, I'd recommend seeing the Apple Genius at an Apple Store or contacting AppleCare for paid incident support.

I had checked Finder Preferences to make sure everything was still checked, and it was. But as a result of your suggestion I decided to go back and uncheck them, relaunch Finder, restart my MacBook Pro, and re-check them. That didn't actually change anything, BUT, in moving my cursor around the sidebar I discovered there is a "show/hide" button to the right of the word Favorites which only shows up when you hover over it (a bad design imo) and I must have somehow clicked on it and pouf! All disappeared! So, thank you! I would not have discovered that absent your suggestion. All is now showing in my sidebar again.

Free version: everything disappeared

After a long, slow download of the free version I selected "RUN" -- everything disappeared, and tho I can access everything stored in my computer, there is no programs listed for the new download, no adobe programs except my old version appears in the add/remove programs list.
The entire internet explorer is blocked--I can call up a page, but it remains blank!!
BTW, this is the 2nd time I've had to type this query--after it took over 2 HOURS to download, and ending up with zilch, I'm getting pretty pissy...Can anyone help??

What does "free version" refer to? What program? What system? What exactly are you doing? You need to explain better and provide more info.

Help! Why did everything disappear?

I was changing the fill on a shape I drew on a new layer, when suddenly everything I had done before disappeared and I now have only one layer with one frame. What happened?? And can I get everything back? I had a layer with a static photo, a layer with a symbol and simple motion tween (swoop in from left), and a third layer I was working on. There were 36 frames in the file. Now, Layer 1 (with one frame) has the photo and the shape showing. I've been all over the forums and support looking for a clue. Can anyone help me? Thanks!!

Were you working on the tween inside of an object? It sounds like you have
an object that has 36 frame that's sitting on frame 1 of the timeline. Whe
n you were manipulating your tween, or shape, or whatever on layer 3, you
clicked out of your object and are just looking at your main timeline.
If you deleted the graphic object, you may have deleted the work you did...
Can you name the files in your library, the type of object they are, and a
description of what each object contains?

Everything Disappeared in Passbook

I have used the Passbook app on my iPhone 5c and a previous iPhone without issue since iOS 6 rolled out. Today, however, I was talking to my daughter about some MLB tickets that I had purchased and when I opened Passbook to check the dates, I found that EVERYTHING in passbook (tickets, AAA membershp card, Walgreens rewards card, and Starbucks gift card) had disappeared. I was left with the Passbook splash screen.
I was able to download the missing apps and set them up in Passbook, but I am unable to redownload the MLB game tickets.
When I click the link in the ticket reciept to add them to Passbook, it launches Safari as it should. When I click on the individual tickets using the "Add to Passboook" as I have in the past, I recieve an error message stating (in big bold text) "Download Failed" & (in smaller text) "Safari cannot download this file."
I called the support number for Tickets.com and they said that I would need to use a different browser on my laptop NOT my iPhone. I reluctantly tried that, but that didn't work (as it never has). I downloaded Google Chrome on my iPhone, copied and pasted the link and got a message stating that Passbook only works with Safari in OSX 10.8.2 or Apple iOS 6 or later from a Safari browser.
I called Tickets.com again and they sent me a copy of the reciept and to try the process again. If that didn't work, then there is something wrong with my iPhone. I tried using the new email and the new links to no avail.
Any suggestions for getting my tickets to show up again?

After cleaning keyboard, everything disappeared from desktop

After cleaning the keyboard, everything has disappeared from my desktop, including the hard drive disk image. I heard a "clunk" like the sound of something being sent to the Trash, but it's not there.
I know the files still exist, because when I open a finder window all the screen shots I had on the desktop are still listed under "Desktop". But they aren't visible on the desktop itself. But the hard drive disk image isn't anywhere to be seen, although it's also visible in a Finder window!
I've now moved all the files into a folder inside "Documents" (yes, I know they should have been there all along).

Sorry, everyone, I restarted and the hard drive is back on the desktop.

Everything disappeared from my library

when i opened my itunes yesterday everyhting had disappeared from my library, including all my podcasts and downloaded tracks and tv programmes!
i had most of my music saved seperately so i can put it back on, but all my podcasts have gone, and the tv progs
does anyone know what might have happened, and if i can get the stuff back?

I have had the same thing happen to my library and getting help from Apple is nearly impossible. I don't know if this will help you but any info. is usefull.
I feel your pain, I've reloaded all my ipods and library over 3 times because everytime I put everything back on and crossed my fingers, my library would be deleted again. So on the fouth time putting my library file back on to my computer (not a difficult thing but just a pian in the butt) and I started to put the "Genious" feature back on, I glanced once again, as we all do, to the terms and cond. and it stated something like " you are sending your library to itunes but they don't sell the info." or something to that effect. So it finally occured to me that if I'm sending my library info. to itunes,maybe they don't put it back once I log off and turn my computer off. So I tried not putting the "genious" feature on, and my library is still intact. I think everytime you use Genious you have to turn it off on your computer or else your library will be deleted. As far as any previous playlists, those are gone. You'll have to start from scratch. But its better than having a deleted library everytime you open itunes. Sorry for the long explanation. I could've said "dont turn in Genious, or turn genious off" when you log off, but if your like me, I want to know "why" this is happening. Anyway, this may help until Apple figures a way to fix this glitch. Let me know if it works! Good luck!

If you don't have FileVault enabled for that account, open the Users folder on your hard disk and check the folders inside for your files; if you find them, rename folders so that the folder with the files is given the name previously used by the folder with the house icon. Log out and back in.
If you have FileVault enabled, follow the instructions in this article.
If you have moved your home folder to another disk or partition regardless of whether or not FileVault is enabled, in addition to the above, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, and enter /Volumes/ as the folder's path. Select each item in the Finder and choose Get Info for each item; if a specific item is listed as being something other than an alias, move it out of that folder.

Form tag makes everything disappear

I have been working with DW for years, but just recently
upgraded to DW 8, (on a Mac), and I am noticing a peculiar problem.
If you look at the code below, you will see that I am trying to add
form tags to a form that's in a table, nestled within a table. In
looking at the code, it should work, but once I add that closing
"form" tag, the whole editable region and everything in it
completely disappears!
Any ideas on what is going wrong? Thanks!

The opening and closing form tags should go around the table
or in the
SAME <td> cell. At the moment you have one form tag in
one <td> cell and
its closing one in another one.

Everything disappears when iMovie crashes??

It's not the first time that iMovie crashes while I'm doing a movie... This time I made a lot of things and then suddenly a crash and now everything is gone??? How can I get it back? I was just putting the video together, didn't try to create a file or anything.
I can't find a save button in iMovie and it still doesn't autosave while crashing...??
I hope it's possible to get this back!!

Thanks for sending the file! I can reproduce the issue - that is very strange indeed. I'm not sure off hand what's going on to make it disappear (both 3D and stage rendering/Flash Player are involved), but we're looking into it further.
I have found something that could help (although I do recognize the limitations, depending on what you have planned). It doesn't seem to disappear if the several movie clip sections of the car are not nested inside of a movie clip. They still function when grouped together as well. Would the individual clips on a layer, grouped/ungrouped, work in the meantime?

Updated creative cloud and everything disappeared, running windows 7 64 bit

I updated creative cloud on my windows 7 desktop, this failed with error code 50, cancelled the update, then tried again this time the update went ahead as normal however on completion. All my creative cloud short cuts etc had disappeared and windows told me that the creative cloud exe file no longer existed.
Ok I thought I will reinstall and take it from there, however the CC web page will only allow me to repay[my next subscription is not due until June, so that is a no no,] the question is how do I get CC back my copies of Photoshop and Lightroom appear to be working normally and tell me that they are up to date Help

Negative to the cleaner, as I have no problem with anything else but CC desktop app and that isn’t anywhere to be seen, therefore nothing to clean, I don’t even know if I have the cleaner installed ?, I am just a keen amateur who likes using LR mainly and my nik plug in collection occasionally, this is just a nuisance to me, I only use the desk top app to update when it reminds me to, as I have lightroom 4 anyway and have hardly used Photoshop since I took out my subscription last June, it may pay me to just upgrade Lightroom when my subscription finishes I certainly don’t fancy having to run any chance of using a cleaner and losing my plugins, backing everything up etc, especially when the website isn’t user friendly as regards trying to re install the desk top app.

Everything disappears when I'm in Fullscreen Mode. What do I do?

I'm running a standalone EXE file via the Projector (or whatever it's called when you run a standalone EXE file made with Flash). It's NOT a web-based application. Every time I go to fullscreen mode, I just get a blank screen. All of the images are gone. However, if I press Esc to exit the full screen mode, then the pictures appear again. Is this a bug with Flash CS3?
This is what I put in the first frame of my movie in the 'actions' section:

When I run the Flash program (as an exe file), the program goes fullscreen, but all of the elements on the stage disappear, leaving the screen blank. However, when I exit out of fullscreen mode (by pressing ESC) then everything looks like it's supposed to, with the images showing up and everything.
Is there any way to fix this?

I'm using a Dell laptop with Windows 7. I've set the resolution to 1024x768, though the maximum resolution on this can go as high as 1366x768. So this is a problem that no one has been able to figure out? I've ran lots of other Flash-based applications that went fullscreen with no problem, so I'm wondering what other methods there are to try, if possible.

I have iTunes open on my computer and have chosen hen songs that I want to put ony iPod but when I click sync it loads a little bit and then everything disappears. What am I doing wrong?

I had my iPod set up and everything then when I hooked or up to my computer iTunes told me that my iPod could not be read and that I needed to restore it, so I did that and after when i plugged it into iTunes and selected the songs that I wanted to put on my iPod and clicked sync it started to sync but right when it gets to the end it goes blank and says choose your songs/playlists once again and I have to start all over. You should be syncing your contacts/calendars to your computer regularly ( Outlook for example).
Sync them back.

EVERYTHING on your iphone should always be on your computer as well and included in your regular backup copy of your computer.

I see briefly the content of my Mail Inbox of an IMAP account, then everything disappear and the inbox is empty

I have beeen experiencing for the past few days some issues with my Inbox of an IMAP based email account. My inbox is empty.
When I start mail my Inbox is empty after briefly appearing at the sgtart of the application.
I installed thunderbird to verify that my IMAP account was not the issue and I can clearly see, receive and send email.
I can also access that account via a webmail interface and everything seems fine.
The problem started occuring after getting some error messages from the server indicating that I had gobe over the allocated quota. I cleaned up the account but now mail does present me an empty inbox. Again the account info are valid, nothing has changed.
The interesting things is that my iphone & ipad that are using the same setup and my inbox is also empty there.
With mountain lion (clean install), I can see the emails arriving via the notification bar.
I am at a loss and would appreciate any help if somebody has encountered such a problem.

Try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

After changing my battery, everything disappeared?!

My battery on my macbook completely died so I bought a new one and replaced it. For the first hour everything was fine and I let the computer die. I charged all night, woke up this morning and turned the computer on. Everything was gone and it reset back to pretty much new. Pictures, music, school work. I mean everything is gone. Can anyone help??
