Everything freezing ?

when i turn on my laptop nothing is working if i open anything safari,firefox, itunes, apple store they all freeze and force quit wont work either. also no internet and i cant restart nor shutdown and immediately the laptop becomes really noisy like when the processors are working at 100% !! please help

See if you can boot into single user mode with Command S.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4 every time I open or refresh a page everything freezes and I have to wait a minute or so for it to respond again. I'm also having problems with uploading to Photobucket and watching things via Youtube since the upgrade.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0 a couple of days ago, every time I open or reload a page the whole browser freezes. At first I thought it might be down to compatibilty issues with other programmes open at the time, but as the problem has persisted when those programmes aren't open I'm starting to think it's the browser itself and it's getting extremely frustrating having everything freeze every time I want to change a page.
My other problem is twofold: with Youtube nothing plays at all because the toolbar with the play/pause option simply isn't there and I am unable to access the upload function on Photobucket because likewise it won't appear. I'm assuming this has something to do with Flash but have no idea how to fix it.

hello, often such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

Everything freezes immediately when connecting iPod

When I connect my ipod via the usb cable to my laptop basically everything freezes, including itunes and even the ipod updater. IMMEDIATELY, im talking exactly when i unplug it (even though it says do not disconnect) the computer unfreezes. I am not able to update any of my songs or the software or anything. Any suggestions?

You need to uninstall the itunes and ipod update and go back to itunes 4 that came with your ipod. I was having the same problem and sent my 40G back to apple. I got a replacement and still was having the problem. After I performed the above procedure, the problems went away. Good Luck

If you're synchronizing Safari with iCloud, disable that temporarily and see whether there's an improvement.

Everything freezing / working very slowly

I've been away for about 2 weeks, & since I got back & switched on my Mac, nothing seems to work properly; Firefox, Bridge & Photoshop are all seizing up; freezing, sticking, not reacting when I type, or taking several minutes to react. Almost everything I try to do involves watching that beach ball spinning round for several minutes. Anyone got any idea what this is? is it a bug? I removed Norton as it was driving me crazy with it's incessant pop-up messages, but maybe I should re-install it? I installed something else instead that was recommended here - ClamXav? I've installed updates for the Mac.

Norton? I can't believe they are still trying to sell that to Mac owners! Could very well be your whole problem. Did you use Norton's uninstaller or just put it the trash? Putting it in the trash won't get rid of Norton's parasitic grip.
Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk for OS 10.6.8 and under. If you are running 10.7 or 10.8 run Disk Repair from Disk Utility on your Recovery System. It shows you how in the link.
You could have some directory corruption caused by Norton. Let us know what errors Disk Repair reports and if DU was able to repair them. This could just be a start in repairs and you may need a better utility to finish the job.
Then Repair Permissions.
No need to report any Permissions errors........we all get them.

Ipod touch will not sync with itunes using windows 7 makes everything freeze

My itouch has not been able to sync with itunes using windows 7 for a couple of days. Everything just freezes and I have to reboot my laptop. I have reinstalled itunes and deleted the backup of the ipod but nothing is working.

IPod shuffle makes everything freeze

My iPod shuffle seems to be causing a lot of problems recently (I think since iTunes 5). The computer seems to freeze a lot--a few times a day, even--and I am reduced to staring at the spinning spectrum gizmo. But I can be sure that if I just yank the shuffle out everything will snap back to attention. I'm connecting the shuffle through a USB hub generally, so now I'm experimenting to see if plugging it into the side of the Powerbook makes a difference. Wondering if anyone has a similar problem...

I was having this problem all day today, and I happened upon a solution. If you're plugging your Shuffle or a shuffle Dock into the USB port on the keyboard, switch ports. I moved the shuffle to an open port on a small hub and that totally fixed the problem. Maybe there's a problem with sharing the USB cable with 2 other devices (mouse, keyboard), and maybe not. Either way, this worked for me, and I had exactly these symptoms.

ITunes doesn't work after update now! Says music files have been moved, would I like to locate them, then everything freezes.

I need some help! I've spent hundreds of dollars on iTunes music and suddenly every time I click the "play" button the entire service just freezes and stops responding. The only way I can even get to a play button that doesn't freeze is through the iTunes store. But at that point when I click "play", it tells me the song can't be played because the file isn't in its original location. It asks me if I'd like to locate it, and if I click yes, it brings me to a screen that I can't do anything with. Nice update. It was just fine until now. What can I do to get my music back???

Since you do not mention what happens when you try it is hard to help.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
Everything on the ipod came from your computer in the first place. It should still be there and you should always have a backup copy.

I have: iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core i3, 4GB RAM, OS 10.7.5. It seems that a few times a day, the internet turns off and I need to turn OFF and then ON. There has also been about 3x in a week where everything freezes and I have to power down. What can I do?

No, I do not get any prompt whatsoever.. I can move the mouse but cannot click on anything.. Just frozen screen, can't close a window, can't click on apple symbol on top to try to force quit an app..

Everything freezes when printing

For some reason it is taking a very long time to print from any program and everything becomes unresponsive until it does. It was taking about five minutes for plain text. I installed Print therapy and ran various clean ups and cut it down to 1-2 minutes. I checked the console and realized I get several error messages when I print:

I've tried deleting all the print plist files, repairing permissions, deleting then reinstalling the driver from the samsung website. I dont know what else to do. My printer is connected via usb, ML-2510. Please help.

i was afraid of that, i will check the smart system thanks. Im not experiencing any slow down or issues with any other program. But this may be related. Trying to re-install Acrobat 8, everything freezes during installation & have to reboot

Hello. I've been having problems with my Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard software for months now. At some point, it got so dysfunctional that I was no longer able to create new PDF files, although I could still add comments and mark-up existiing PDFs. So finally, I decided to uninstall and re-install the software, hoping that this would solve the problem. Well, the uninstall went great, but then re-installing turned out to be impossible, apparently. I successfully downloaded the .exe file (all 327MB of it). But whenever I start the installation, once it get to the point where I'm asked to enter the Serial Number (and I do manually, as for some reason it doesn't allow me to paste it into the form in the dialog box), then it says that the installation of the components is starting (or something like that), and then the installation freezes, my entire computer freezes, and I have to do a forced shut-down. When I reboot, nothing has been saved of the installation procedure, and I have to start all over again. This has now happened three times, exactly the same way, and I'm getting extremely frustrated. I paid $320 for this software, so I expected it to last more than 3 years!
Please help me to resolve this problem - as simply and as quickly as possible! Thanks.

Thanks so much for your response. I have an Acer TravelMate 6292 that runs Windows Vista Business. I have to say that when I first bought and installed the Acrobat 8.0, the PDF maker crashed frequently, but over time, as updates and fixes became available, it performed much better. But then a few months ago, it stopped allowing me to create new PDFs, which is a major drawback, obviously. That's why I decided finally to uninstall and reinstall, hoping that this would solve the problem. It seems I was very wrong!
As for other hardware or software changes, I have over time installed what most people have, probably, like my Canon and HP printers and scanners, McAfee anti-virus, iTunes, Nero, Skype, WinRAR, 'File-zilla', Open Freely, and so on. There is one weird software that got installed when I bought an external disc-drive: it's called 'ODD firmware' and I can't seem to get rid of it (it doesn't uninstall). But I don't know if that would affect the Acrobat.

PS6: get message, purge cache in preference while using Bridge, everything freezes.

message says: please try purging the central Cache preference to correct situation. This comes up in Bridge.
I tried the purge, but nothing happens, Bridge freezes, and I can't exit out.

Restart Bridge holding down Ctrl (win) or Cmd (mac) and choose reset preferences and purge cache.
