Everything gone from Ipod Classic
I just finished syncing my 80g classic Ipod (bought in Dec 07 but started using in Jan 08) and everything just poof vanished... iTunes does not recognise it when I plugged it in.
I havent even downloaded any fancy stuff only plain music.
There is nothing on the Ipod... what can I do..I am not even computer expert like all of you.
Where do I start when itunes does not even see my Ipod or my file manager.
Can anyone please help me out.
I live in country area and I dont even think we have a Apple store here.

Try resetting the ipod. (Switch the lock switch to lock and then back to unlocked, then hold the menu and centre button down for 10 secs until a grey screen with apple logo appears).
When it is rebooted try connecting again.
If this is unsuccessful try the ipod in another PC or Mac. This will quickly narrow down whether it is the iPod or host machine that is at fault.
If it works in another machine try reinstalling itunes.

COMPILATIONS OPTION GONE FROM IPOD CLASSIC
Hey everyone, I've seen most of your posts and I would like to add myself to that list of people extremely frustrated that this option has been taken off the new iPod classic.
I just bought a 160GB iPod classic, and own 233 compilation albums, so you guys have a clear idea of how annoying this is.
I have already sent my concerns to the feedback option as many of you have so hopefully we can get this back soon.

Especially when you've spent years building a music collection and tagging immaculately only to find the only way round it is to re-tag compilation albums so the artist entry is the same for every track (i.e Various Artists).
Turning Compilations 'on' doesn't remove compilations artist entrys from the main artist menu, it simply adds compilations to the music menu.
You'll also notice multiple cover art entrys for a compilation album... i.e 18 track compilation = 18 cover art entrys. Genuis.
Why on earth dont they get someone to test these things properly before release? -
All Music and Video gone from Ipod classic - help please.
I unplugged my ipod from my work pc yesterday and found that all the music and video have apparently been erased.
I've plugged it back in this morning in the hope that an xml file needs rebuilding somewhere and itunes is showing my ipod as empty, even the pc thinks there is 150gb+ space on there. Sharepod also thinks it's empty.
The strange thing being that some old photos that were on there have remained. I don't use the sync feature and unfortunately my back up external disk which contains my music library is in another country at the moment.
Have my files gone forever?Sounds like the directory holding the music has been erased. Odd that it still had some photos. An undelete/unformat software might be able to rebuild most of your files from "free" sections of the disc that haven't yet had anything new written into them. If you can recover the files to the point that they are taking up space on the iPod's drive (or they can be copied to another drive) there are other posts that help with rebuilding them into a library.
There probably are some suitable free tools out there if you can wade through all the "free" recovery tools that are only free up until the point of any actual recovery.... Otherwise shell out a little cash or wait until you can be reunited with your backup.

After reformatting my HD and reimporting all songs back into iTunes succesfully, the playlist folders are gone and I don't want to rebuild them from scratch. How do I restore playlists from iPod classic to iTunes 11.1.3 without resorting to 3rd party options?
I actually tried that in "my computer" by renaming the drive and then got this:
g-raid (F:) (H:)
then after reading your reply realized I should try renaming it in "disk management" and hey! it worked.

Now I don't understand why my back-up drive isn't automatically adding the files when I import into the Ex-HD but I'll figuree it out. -
My MacBook Pro hard drive crashed a little while ago and has been replaced. Is it possible to take tunes from iPod Classic and transfer all of them back to iTunes on computer? Is this just for purchased tunes or can I do it for ones that have been burned from CD's as well? Thanks for any help!

my laptop pouched and all my songs are on there question is i got new ipod touch how do i get my old songs that are on my ipod classic to my desktop so i can put same songs from ipod classic to the ipod touch?
I have 1 library and have 3 ipods including a touch. I create playlists for the touch and only sync those since the capacity of the touch is smaller than the classic. At sync time itunes will give you the option to choose which playlist to sync to the touch.

If your music collection was purchased from iTunes, you are in a good shape since that music is forever yours under your iTunes account. Therefore, after installing iTunes on your new computer, sign into your account and see all your music under "Purchsed". Then simply download it to be phisically present onto your computer (for free since you've already paid for it).
On the other hand if you happens to not be a sucker to waist money on iTunes and your collection was ripped from the internet (via torrents and such), you need some third party software to copy iPod music, here is a guide about how to transfer music from iPod classic to computer. Just downgraded back to iTunes 10.7 and copied music from ipod classic to itunes using houdini, but how do i copy the playlists from the ipod when itunes says that my ipod has been synced to another itunes library?

I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.

Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.

- Go to Setting>General>Accessibility and make sure the white on black is off
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
