Everything has disappeared.

A week ago, after 'incorrectly' unplugging my 80GB iPod from my MacBook, I clicked on Artists and found...nothing. 60-70GB of music I absolutely treasured had disappeared.
Now, I cannot know if this happened at the moment I took the iPod from the computer or somehow in the intervening two hours since I had last toyed with it's library.
It's strange, though. The photos I uploaded are still there. What's more, when I read the little iTunes 7 drive allocation thing...it says I am using (something like) 39.43 GB and have 34.93 free. I can't recall the exact numbers, but they were basically inverted.
To me, this doesn't make sense. They're clues to what went wrong, I know, but I don't know how to read them.
Can anyone tell me what happened? How to recover or access my lost music?
If it's "gone gone" a part of me will be forever inconsolable.
I appreciate very much any help.

It may be a corrupt iPod database that's not allowing the songs to be read.
You can recover the songs, try Senuti.
It's a program that transfers music from iPod to iTunes on a Mac.
Once you've done that, you can restore the iPod and reload the songs.

  • Everything has disappeared off of my desktop?

I started up my computer and everything has disappeared off of my desktop included my icon for my hard drive. I have performed a search and can see that they are somewhere, but not able to tell where or retrieve them. Even in these searches no HD to speak of. HELP!

Hi grandmabone and welcome to Apple Discussions!
If you go to the Finder menu and select *Finder Preferences* then select the General tab, which items are checked under *Show these items on the desktop*? If you make sure that *Hard disks* is checked, does that help?
    Best of luck.

  • TS2776 Everything has disappeared from my iTunes account.

I just started iTunes again after it stopped updating my apps yesterday.  Now, there is nothing in my library other than one app, one movie and one song.  Everything else has disappeared.  Any idea as to what happened and what I should do?  I should mention that I did not recently make any changes to iTunes.  I was on a very slow internet connection and I stopped it in the process of updating the apps because it was really slow.

  • I just updated to the newest version of Itunes and everything has disappeared from my library. It is still on my iphone, but there is nothing in my library. How do I get it back?

I just updated itunes to 10.6.
    Windows. Vista. (up to date)
Everything is the library has gone - no apps, music, videos etc.
    Playlists have gone.
Everything on the iPhone is still there.
I can't sync because everything will then get deleted from the phone and replaced with the (empty) library.
How can I get it all back to normal?

  • Everything has disappeared from my iTunes...

The problem listed above, is one of many
Been having, what looks to be, a common problem with my iPhone 4 - I suddenly keep getting a warning message telling me that I'm running out of storage on the phone and I should go to settings to change my storage options and whatnot. After the first time I got this message, I deleted all my text messages and photos, but CONTINUED to get this warning message about every ten minutes. I connected my phone to my PC to check the amount of free space, and sure enough I had bags of it, about 30-40% free space
After I had deleted all of my text messages, my phone would then not let me open my text message centre at all. I could not recieve any of the texts being sent to me, and I could not write any. I would get a notification and a glimps of the first line of a text, and then couldn't open my texts to actually read the messages.
After this, other things started playing up. All of my apps started crashing, most of the them wouldn't load at all. (Yes I was clearing all my background apps etc. I'm not an Apple n00b ) Then, in between apps crashing, the icons for random apps would go dark for a few minutes and would have "cleaning..." written underneath them instead of the app name. It did it this with all of them, and was doing it with at least one constantly, in no particular order. Even apps that I hadn't used for days, or that had been updated recently.
I had a bit of a tantrum last night, as I tried to call someone (as I couldn't send them a text, as I normally would have done in this instance) and ended up getting their answer machine - I COULDN'T HANG UP. I had to switch my phone off to end the call. I could open my calculator and my photos, but not my phone keypad or contacts?! My little brother now has a minute and a half of me swearing progressively louder and heartier at my iPhone to listen to whenever he checks his messages.
This was when I decided to restore my iPhone. I double checked when my last manual backup was to make sure all my Apps etc would be ok, it had been backed up a few days prior to the first sign of the problem - all systems go!
I restored my iPhone, everything looked good, I restored backup - it seemed to be working, it even remembered my wifi password! I checked my photos, back in my camera roll (even though I had deleted them the day before to try and free up some space, but whatever, that was a good sign) I checked my mail centre, all my email accounts were there with all my mail in them, I tried to open my text messages - HUZZAH IT WORKED! All my texts were there, except for the ones that people had been trying to send me while my phone was broken. Oh well.
Now... where are the rest of my apps?
I scolled through my 3 iPhone 'pages,' everything had gone Facebook, Instagram, the whole shebang. I took another look at iTunes on my pc while it was still connected - went to Apps... nothing there.
Oh crap, never mind, I'll just go to the app store and install them all again, most of them were free apps anyway...
But what about my music? Now my iTunes library (on my PC) only contains music, TV shows and films that I have bought directly from iTunes. It doesn't have any of the music from ripped CDs, or that were already on my PC prior to me getting an iTunes account.
That's no big deal, I can add them all manually - time consuming, but at least I can clear out old albums I don't want anymore.
But now my main concern is that everything that IS in my library, is stored in the iCloud, and not actually on my iTunes on my PC. So I can't play any of my music. There is a column I've never noticed before with the iCloud symbol, if I hover over the symbol after each track it tells me to 'download from the iCloud' BUT WHEN I CLICK IT NOTHING HAPPENS!!!
This is basically the final straw, I'm on the verge of smashing up some very expensive items and screaming myself hoarse. Please help?
I'm going to make an appointment with the Apple Store to go and get my little 'storage' problem looked at, as that's still going on (EVEN THOUGH MY IPHONE IS LITERALLY EMPTY BECAUSE I HAVE NO MUSIC IN MY ITUNES LIBRARY TO PUT ON THE **** THING.)
    Bah!!
If you have experienced anything similar, I;d love to hear about it.
    Sofi x

  • Files. settings, and almost everything has disappeared

I had my had drive replaced about 2 months ago. Everything seems to have been working fine until now. A few days ago I quit firefox because it froze. When I re-opened firefox, all of my settings were gone, bookmarked websites etc. as if I had just installed it new. Then I later noticed, when I tried signing into ichat, the same thing had occurred. It was as if I had just installed the program starting from new.
This morning I noticed certain system preference setting like my hot corners, had gone away. I decided to restart the macbook. After the restart, Desktop settings and files on desktop were gone. Then I went to my music folder, all 2000 songs I have were gone. Everything saved on my hard drive is gone, except for 1 file that was created 2 nights ago, and few settings / programs.
    Anyone know what's going on?

  • Cancelled import and now everything has disappeared!

When I tried opening iTunes today I mistakenly cancelled an import function - don't know why iTunes was doing this, as it usually doesn't. Anyway, now I have my iTunes with my music, but the tv shows I've bought have disappeared and my playlists have disappeared and I can't seem to create any new ones.
How can I restore my iTunes to the status it had yesterday morning so that I can get my playlists and tv shows back - plus the tv show that was automatically downloaded today?
    Please help!

  • TS1702 After doing an update on tribez everything has disappeared ...... Anyone else have the same problem??

HAs anyone else had the same problem, after doing an update nothing will come up for tribez just a blank screen. My late nights are not the same now!!!

Your Performance preferences screen capture reveals you have a single hard drive with little available space to accommodate both the Photoshop scratch file and the swap files of the OS.
It's obvious that Bridge finds itself at times with insufficient space to build its cache.
However, it's unclear why that should affect only DNG files and not other type of image files.  Puzzling, unless the DNG files are the only large image files you have.
Parts of the following may illustrate what happens when the scratch file is on your boot drive:
The rule of thumb I follow to figure out scratch space says to figure on 50 to 100 times the size of your largest file ever multiplied by the number of files you have open.  I have seen the scratch file exceed 800 GB once, an admittedly rare occurrence, but it often exceeds 200 GB when stitching large panoramas and the like.
As an example—and stressing that I'm aware that others have even more scratch space than I do—I keep two dedicated, physically separate hard drives as my primary and secondary Photoshop scratch disks and a lot of GB free on my boot drive for the OS.  I also have 16 GB of RAM installed.
Additionally, if you only have a single HD, i.e. your boot drive, you'd need it to be large enough to accommodate both the swap files of the OS as well as Photoshop's scratch.

  • Everything has disappeared from i-pod

Hi, after a recharge and update when i disconnected my i-pod it showed 0 everything even though the memory used was the same as before.  when I reconnected to i-tunes and looked under my i-pod everything was still there.  What's happening nothing is working?

  • Panic.  All my email has disappeared from iCloud.  I did not delete it, and now it's working again, but only from today.  What happened to my old emails?

Sorry for the long header, but this is my first question.
Today, for no apparent reason, my iCloud inbox/sent items/junk/trash everything has disappeared from all my devices.  I checked iCloud, and there's nothing up there either.  I did not delete all my email, either intentionally or by accident.
Meanwhile, iCloud is now working again, but all the old mails are gone, I'm hoping not forever.
How do I recover all this missing material, which is essential both to my business and personally?
    thanks

I'm in the same position - this morning all my emails on iCloud have vanished.
Luckily I  use an IMAP account in Entourage to keep copies on my machine, and I have a backup where all the emails are still visible. But if I connect ot iCloud using entourage they all vanish from entourage as well, so until this is resolved I cannot connect using entourage.
I have another iCloud account I hardly use, and that's working fine. Similarly my wife's account is also working fine - all her emails are visible in iCloud and in entourage.
Anybody had a successul way of dealing with this ?

On my PC, in I-Tunes, the iPod (touch) button disappears every time I try to sync or update.  Everything has been rebooted, but no changes. Any ideas on how to sync to the IPod?  Better yet, how to keep the ipod button on screen when itunes is open and the ipod is connected?

    - Have you tried another USB port and cable?
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • Everything in my iTunes has disappeared, how do I get it back?

Basically, I went into my iTunes to discover that everything (Music, TV Shows, Films etc.) has disappeared. I have regretingly not back up my files, therefore I am asking if anyone knows how to get my files back?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Everything saved in PAGES has disappeared!! Help!

everything i PAGES saved has disappeared!! Help!!"

    Hi again AnonyMouse,
Can you startup to your install cd/dvd and Repair Disk using Disk Utility?
Insert your insall cd/dvd #1 and then restart while holding down the "c" key. Hold down till you see the bootup grey screen and the spinning cursor and then release.
When booted to the installer splash screen, go directly to the top Menu Bar and select Disk Utility from the Installer Menu. When Disk Utility opens select your HD in the left pane and then the First Aid tab and then click on Repair Disk.
When Disk Utility finishes, note any errors it reports, and if any are not repaired rerun. Quit Disk Utility and then quit the Installer and the computer will restart.
If the computer boots back up to your normal desktop you can then run Repair Permissions from your HD/Applications folder/Utilities/DiskUtility/Repair Permissions.

My Bluetooth has disappeared and I have tried just about everything on the internet. When I click on Bluetooth file exchange it says hardware not found. I tried resetting everything as well nothing is working for me please help because now my facetime doesn’t work neither does photo booth and now I cannot text people off my laptop unless they have iMessage.

If you followed the instructions in the support article exactly (leaving the machine off for two minutes), then it has a hardware fault. Take it to an Apple Store or other authorized service provider for repair.
