Everything I draw becomes a symbol.

I believe I asked this question already, but here goes...
I am an avid animator. I have a problem. Everything I draw on my canvas becomes a symbol, with a thin blue square border indicating it. It really cheeses me off. I don't know how to turn off this feature, and I would like help.

click the rectangle tool.
at the bottom of the tools panel, make sure the object drawing icon is not selected.
draw a rectangle.
is it a shape?

Why does my vector drawing become pixelated once uploaded to the Creative Cloud?

I'm drawing in Adobe Ideas on my iPad. I assume the only way to save it is to upload it to the Creative Cloud. When I go to view it in the cloud, it looks pixelated. Even when I download it, it is still pixelated. Why is this happening?

When i write "TM" it becomes trademark symbol :-(

I was wondering if anyone know of a quick solution to this thing thats become a bothersome problem for me.
Everytime I write the two letters "TM" in any context, in any program with no exception - on my mac, the mac turns it into a small TM symbol.
This is particular irritating as I have a client called TM and I write their name a lot in various communication with them and about them.
Does anyone know how to turn this "feature" off?
It started after installing Lion. Then my computer got "smart" on me.
PS. obviously i can write "TM" here in this forum ;-)

Why does my drawing become pixelated in Creative Cloud?

TS4185 I am having microphone trouble on face time. Others cannot hear me. I have checked system preferences and everything looks ok. Mic symbol has a line through it but nothing happens when I try to click on it. Internal mic is selected.

I am having microphone trouble on my Mac Book Pro during face time. Others cannot hear me. Microphone symbol has a line through it but will not allow me to change from muted to unmuted. "Mute" under Video tab is greyed out and internal microphone is selected. System Preferences show that internal microphone is working. I have tried to restart computer, no difference. Does anyone have a suggestion?

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

BitmapData draw method doesn't work when the project is published as the .swf file of the web applic

        I am totally confused by this strange error. When I tried using the draw method of BitmapData to draw a movieclip symbol of my project, it seems to work fine locally. However, as I uploaded the published .swf file to my web server and launched it as the plugin of my web application, it failed. The source codes as follows,

message3 didn't show at all. Instead, the browser console shows "Uncaught Error: Error calling method on NPObject.". My understanding of this error message is that the .swf is calling something crashing, and I believe that bd.draw(stage)is the crashng method call.

My real purpose in this application is to capture a snapshot of a streaming video. The video is contained in a movieclip object. I tried stage first since BirmapData.draw() doesn't work when drawing the movieclip on the web site. Do you have any suggestion for this situation? Also, is there any good method to find out what happened if the browser have "Uncaught Error: Error calling method on NPObject."?

Drawing tool behaviour in Flash CC

Hello,
I'm using Flash for about 10 years now, and recently use the new flash CC for my new projects.
I'm really disappointed with the new drawing tool. I mean, the new behaviour of the old brush tool.
What did you do to it ? it has always been hard to get the 'what you draw is what you get', with flash.
But now with that new version, it became almost impossible to draw correctly.
The strokes are awful.
And, worst, the behaviour of the arrow, when you want to adjust your splines, is also unpredictable, and unusable !
I'm not talking about the drawings you get when you draw inside a symbol which is rotated. If you never try it, just do it, you'll laugh... For such a professional tool, costing several hundred of dollars, I don't understand why you cannot rotate and draw in the symbol, and why, after so many years you never find a fix for that...
Why did you destroy that tool ???
And is it possible to get back the old drawing engine, maybe with an extension, or a fix ?

To use images from the media browser, you must generate previews of the images first. It sounds like the "automatically generate previews for every new project" is turned off under Aperture >Preferences>Previews. To generate a preview for a photo to use in the media browser, right click it and select "update preview". The quality of the preview photo is determined by the settings in the Previews tab found under the Aperture>Preferences menu.

Problems with illustrator CS3. loading drawings, swatches everything takes minutes

Since a couple of days the problems started at my office. All pc's started to have problems with illustrator and photoshop. But most of all illustrator. On start-up it is quick as it used to be but when i want to load a drawing, swatch or symbol it takes minutes. I don't know if it has to do with an update or something else. I only know that it started a few days ago on all pc's but not on the mac's.

What exactly is a few days ago? The last Windows Update was on last Tuesday. Except for a .NET fix and various Office patches it did not seem to have anything critical, but it may be possible that it affects your computers. It's a far cry, though. More likely it's a virus scanner or something with your network settings, that causes erratic file opening behavior. Hard to tell without more info. your description is too generic and vague.

Add "make unique symbol" to the symbol context menu

There are many times I need to make a "variation" of a symbol that should also become a symbol. The current method requires several unnecessary steps. I'd like an option in the "Symbol" context menu called "Make unique Symbol". It would duplicate the current symbol in the symbol palette and link the current symbol instance to it.

I agree the context menu entry is useful and I also use TMP for it. Firefox does have a built-in option to duplicate a tab. Hold down the control key, then drag the tab onto the tab bar and it will create a duplicate.

Flash Pro CS6 crashes when creating symbol

Okay...here's one I gotta share. I'm building some banner ads for a client. I open up Flash Pro CS6. I create a square on the stage. And when I right-mouse click on the drawing, choose Create Symbol...Flash completely locks up. I get that little Windows 7 'tink' in my speakers..and nothing. I cannot create a symbol of any kind. The program completely locks up.
So...I uninstall the entire CS6 suite...reinstall with latest installers...and same result.
BUT....if I put a graphic on the stage...go to the timeline...and try to apply a motion tween..flash alerts me that it needs to be a symbol and converts it to a movie clip for me...no errors.
I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit, 16 G ram. So that ain't the problem. I tried in vane to get somebody on the phone at adobe....I knew that would be a waste of time.
I've been using adobe software forever. And though it is frequently error and crash prone I can usually count on an uninstall squaring things away. Not this time. And I have no cause and effect to point to. I was using Flash a couple of weeks ago no problem...and now...unusable.
If there's anyone out there reading this post...I'd really be interested in a solution.

The only thing that could´ve changed are the settings on my mac...

Styles disappearing from the drawer after scrolling

I have more styles in my document than fit in the styles drawer. But when I try to scroll, the drawer becomes empty. I tried this on two different Macs with 10.9 and Pages 5.2. The document was imported from an older version of pager.
After moving a style the same happens. The complete drawer becomes blank.

Known bug in Pages 5.
The Styles list claps out after you add too many styles.
As for nearly all such problems, don't use Pages 5 if you can at all avoid it.
Use Pages '08/'09 if you have them.

FlashCS4 and Cintiq and Symbols

So we've gone from CS3 to CS4 now. Our animators are finding
that drawing inside a symbol is painfully slow. Outside on the
stage is fine, but when in a symbol, Flash simply cannot keep up
with the pen. This a fresh install of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.6 , 8
Core MacPro, 6GB RAM, fresh install of CS4. Using 21" Cintiq. None
of this happened with CS3.
Are there any known issues with this? Is there a fix or work
around? Adobe? Are you there?

How do i go on making a copy of a symbol without affecting the instance?

Hello everybody, I have a symbol that I have already used and I would like to use the same symbol in another frame(s), except that when i edit the symbol the original object also edits, for example if i delete a part of it, it also deletes in the object that I have already placed, I have tried the 'duplicate symbol' method but nonetheless my symbol still gets modified and changes the way I want it to show it in certain frames. Any help will be appreciated.

If you have a symbol with some inner symbols(Movieclip), then it should also duplicate. for that, copy the symbol and paste it in a new file and rename everything in the library. After rename everything, copy and paste the symbol from the new file to your file. Thats it!

Painting text/symbols

Lately I've noticed a lot of videos using a drawing effect where symbols and text appear as if you are watiching them get drawn. an example of this can be found in Apple's iPod commercial with Eminem http://www.apple.com/itunes/ads/
Anyone have any ideas on how to create/recreate this type of effect.

There are two typical methods for doing this: keyframing masks of the fully-drawn objects or masking a drawn-on line.
In the Eminem spot, for example, you would have an image that has all the rough spots and specks, and you would use that as an Image Mask source for masking a replicator line-drawing. The replicator would draw on the broad strokes, and the mask would chop the patchy bits out.
For the dripping paint or big splotches...that's usually just careful keyframing of shapes or masks of a completed drip/splotch.
For writing on text, you would use the completed text as an Image Mask source, and use an animated shape, particles, or replicator as the "fill".
