Some sites automatically redirect you to a site in the local language.
There is usually a link on such websites choose a language or go to an international version that allows to chose the language.

Living in Germany but want to rent kids films from iTunes in the original version (English) and am finding that everything is in German!!

Can I change the language back to the original version if I download a film in Germany (e.g. Batman) - on the info page it says the only language provided is German, whereas for adults the films seem to be provided in both the original version, and the horrid dubbed version.

I am afraid that this is a local policy of Germany as a state, and adopted by companies, which activate there. This method has been used in many European countries, but not in all countries. I am still happy that almost all the films are subtitled in Romania as this allows to hear the original language, the original voice and is very useful for learning foreign languages. Dubbing films is, in my mind, against the European spirit of mutlicultural continent, and states which still support this should abandon this method. I think this is an issue of a cultural phenomenon, not an Apple forum issue.

Suddenly, I find myself, mid=sentence, having English go POOF! and everything turned into German. Please??? lol the only prob I have had is firfox sync having a problem

Basically, though, the version of TechTool on the AppleCare disks is not compatible with newer versions of OS X and/or Macs (I can't remember which). If you don't get a satisfactory response by posting in the appropriate iMac or OS X forum, I suggest you take your iMac to the geniuses at the Apple Store. You can set up an appointment time for the same day online before you leave home.

Hi! I was the unlucky recipient of the Troj/JSDldr-V "iTunes" trojan (turns itunes German, for starters). It arrived via a FedEx email that was in my Spam folder and somehow unleashed when I moved Spam to trash. (I saw a fake itunes update, clicked the red circle to close which might have been the trigger). Anyhoo, I am perplexed as to how to remove. My Sophos found it and isolated it afterwards, but has been unable to remove it as iTunes is already compromised - and everything being in German or faux German, I'm not about to enter any info as it cleverly prompts for admin user name and password. Sneaky buggers! I have perused forums and found it is likely spyware, but have been unsuccessful at finding how to remove for Mac (Sophos found threat, can't remove it). Running a 2011 late model Macbook Pro, 10.9.5. Any support would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm broke (as in homeless broke) and even if I had money, the nearest Apple store is a five hour drive away - a tad inconvenient and inaccessible. :-( Karma points for helping, though! And I always pay it forward!

New iPod Touch.Moved to Germany from England.App Store ONLY in German.HELP!

For christmas, I got a new iPod Touch. It's very nice, but the App store on the iPod touch is only in German. As my knowledge of German is very limited, I want the App store to be in English. So, as far as I know, to change my App Store into English, I need to go into iTunes, scroll down to the bottom, then select "UK". The problem is, when I do this, my iTunes account automatically logs my account out. When I try to log back in again, a German message comes up, which I've translated as saying something like "My Credit Card is not valid for the UK store. Please click OK to be transferred to the German store." When I do this, I get transferred back to the German store, and everything is in German again, on the iTunes store and on my iPod touch. I don't mind only being able to use the German store, but I want all the text to be in English. I only have a German credit card.
Edit: I've just noticed that the top Podcast list is also in German. I also want this to be the list as seen by people in the UK, as I would have similar tastes to them (BBC Podcasts etc...)...
Is there any way of doing this? Or am I now forced to return my iPod touch, which I really don't want to do... The App Store is why I got the iPod Touch in the first place, but if I can't use it, then it's useless....

You can only shop an iTS of the country (ies) that you qualify. If you had kept you UK CC then you could still shop the UK iTS in English. The German iTS is for those folks in Germany and who have a German CC. I think you are stuck. From what I can see learning a few key words and the German iTS should be navigable. Ich kan sprechen ein bishien nicht sehr gut and spell even worse.

Table maintenance Generator + Tcode for SM30

Hi,
I have created a table maintenance generator for a Z table. Then I created a transaction from SE93 for SM30 and passing table name as parameter.
My requirement is that the user should only be able to delete records from the Z table. It should not allow to insert or modify records.
When I execute the transaction created above it is allowing to insert, modify and delete records from Z table.
How to solve this issue? Please help.

Hi Sriram,
I don't know why your language has changed to German. When I change status ZULG, the language remains English.
To see what happens I have created new maintenance screens and I went into the Modification --> User Interface.
On the next screen I pressed Copy User Interface and after that I got a warning about diferent languages. I just pressed enter. Now the popup screen gives me the possibility to change the interface. I went straight into change mode, without switching to individual interface. I changed status ZULG (everything is in German), activated the status and returned to SE55.
When I start SM30 , all texts are in German.
Because this is not what you and I want, I started again, I deleted my table maintance and created it again. Went into the modification of user interface again and again copied the user interface. Now I went into change mode and I looked at my user interface (in display mode) and all texts are in German. Went back to the strat screen of the menu painter, ACTIVATED THE USER INTERFACE and now, when I change the status ZULG, all texts are in English.
So, all you need to do is activate the user interface before you change it.
When you have a 2-screen table maintenance (an overview and a detail screen), you might want to change status ZUDG as well.

I just recently bought the iphone 4s because that's the way to go to keep in touch back in the states for free. Going to the app store everything is in german, itunes on my computer now is in german.....so as may see that when i try and install and download apps it's all in german...Help please. I've already went to the general settings and changed the language to English but that hasn't done much of anything. My region has changed to U.S. thinking that might help. I'm out of options.

Like I said, there is no good solution. Apple uses technology to determine your location & what iTunes store you can use. Some stores permit changing the language. Unfortunately, the German store is not one of them. Do you have a verified billing address in the states? If so, create another iTunes account, this time using the US store.

Mac os x 10.4.11 tiger

Ive just bought this mac in germany, brand new but software was already installed so everything was in German, when i got back i configered the computer settings, region, time and date to all US which is the settings i want but still there are some German in it, mainly only when they ask for passwords or even when i log into the mac at the dashboard its all German. My ipod is US so i want to download all software and music, i want to get rib of everything European and just have US. Do i have to wipe the computer clean and reinstall mac software in US? how do i do that? can still do it with the software i have? or do i have to do some thing else?

Hi, thanks, but i did that yesterday and also just now and its still the same. Everything is still in English but seems just not all of the computer memory if that makes any sence. The web pages and all the names on the screen are English but just when i log in to the computer its in German and some of the words the pop up when the computer is asking you a question is in German and also when i log on to the Mac site that gets installed at first is in German??? sorry just knew at all this computer stuff, any help would be grateful, cheers

Instalation of operating system

I've been given a mac G4 400Hz, everything is in german, and I'd like to instal the operating system in english. I really don't know how to start, can I "format" everything like in a PC and instal afterwards the new operating system? Can somebody give a clue on how to do it? thank you

If you do not want to retain anything that's now on the hard drive, then yes, reformatting the drive would be the thing to do. In fact, deep-wiping the drive using the low-level or zero-all-data options (whichever is available) would be best. Note that using zer-all-data will take a while, about one hour per each 10GB of drive size.
You can do that to the the drive while booted to an OS 9 Install CD, using Frive Setup drom the Utilities folder on the CD. Best would be to use a retail OS 9.1 or OS 9.2.1 Install CD - those have current versions of Drive Setup, one which does not contain a defect that earlier versions had.
You should select Mac OS Extended as the format for the drive, when asked.

In order to change the language to English you will need to acquire a retail OS 9 Install CD in English; OS 9 Install CDs come with only one OS language version per CD.
A G4 400MHz model can be one of three models - G4 (PCI); G4 (AGP); or G4 (Gigabit Ethernet). This Apple KBase article can help distinguish one from the other -

The G4 (PCI) and G4 (AGP) models can use a retail OS 9.0.4 or later Install CD; a G4 (GE) model can not use that disk, but it can use a retail OS 9.1 or later Install CD.
You can often get retail OS 9.1 or 9.2.1 Install CD's in English at sites like these -

If you are in Europe, you may be able to get such a CD in International English at similar sites in the UK.
EBay is another possibility.
Regardless of the source, be sure to get a retail OS 9 Install CD - those are white, with a large gold 9 on them; the retail OS 9 Install CD's have a universal installer; model-specific Install CD's do not.
Once the OS has been installed, it can be updated using download updaters from Apple's website.
In case you need the updaters (note that there are separate downloads for North American English and International English - the download must match the language of the installed OS) -

Using an OS 9 Install CD is easy.
• Boot the machine to the CD - to do that, with the CD in the drive restart or boot, then immediately hold the C key down, keep it held down until the machine has started to boot to the CD - it can take a few minutes.
• Redo the drive as needed, using Drive Setup.
• Install the OS. To do that, double-click the item Mac OS Install on the CD. Follow the prompts - a standard install of the OS should be fine.
• Once the installation of the OS is finished, test boot to it. To do that, open the Startup Disk control panel (Apple manu > Control Panels > Startup Disk), make sure the OS on the hard drive has been selected, then restart.
Note - retail OS 9 Install CDs do not include much in the way of usable programs. They do include a couple of choices of browsers and some other utility programs, including SimpleText, a basic text reader program. However, they do not include upper-end word processing programs, graphics apps, etc.

Wrong CD name - now I can't correct it - please help!

I inserted a commerical CD and 2 names came up. I chose the "wrong" one and now when I insert the CD, everything is in German.
Anyone know how I can delete the stored name? Is that in the launch services database? If I clear that, will it fix the problem? And will doing so create a new problem for me?

SOLVED!
It wasn't the OS, but iTunes that asked. When I inserted the disk again, I requested the track names (get track names) and it repeated the option for the alternate titles. I selected the correct one this time.

I've been sucked into the Mac product universe! Just this week my wife and I bought new iPhone 4s (16 and 32 GB) and today I bought the wifi and 3G 64 gb iPad. I had the hardest time setting up an iTunes and AppStore account, which I assume is an apple account?
I'm currently living in Germany but I'm an English speaker. This makes for a very frustrating app and iTunes experience when EVERYTHING is in German! How can I set it to where all my iTunes and AppStore menus and things are displayed in English?

edit: actually, you should be able to create a US store account even without a CC by following these instructions: _*Create an iTunes App Store account without a credit card*_.
however, that will only give you access to free content - no rentals and no purchases.

NOKIA MAPS PHONE SOFTWARE

hey guys,
i gota problem with my maps sw update on my fone.. everything workd ok, firmware, nokia maps and map uploader.
the problem is when i click on "nearby" everything is in german. how do i fix that. i wouldnt mind if i could read it. hehe.
im from australia. was this only suppose to be for europe only?

Thanks everyone for the tips. There are a few gaps in the advice however for novices like myself. To fill these in :
1) You must have a microSD card for the maps loader to work, minimum 2Giga (Nokia maps are by continent and heavy files : 1.3G for Europe or America). You may even find that the Maploader application says there's not enough space on your 2Giga card, in which case you have to increase the memory allocation within the maps application on your phone - Maploader will tell you where to find this.
2) The "data transfer" mode everyone talks about is in the message which pops up in the phone when you connect it to a computer with PC Suite installed, not on the computer itself or in the PC Suite application.
3) You must have the Maps application activated in the phone before you connect to the computer for MapLoader to recognise the phone.
4) Upload overnight. The connection is slow, a couple of hours for Europe or America.

Problem with creating chapter-markers

Hi everyone,
as the title already says it, I've got a problem with creating chapter markers in Quicktime Pro 7.6.4. There's something wrong with the font, displayed in Quicktime. The problem first appeared a few days ago. Before this, everything went fine and I don't have a clue what causes the problem.
Please click HERE to see a screen-recording of the steps I do to create chapters:
- convert the chapters into unformatted text and save it as Unicode (UTF-16) text file.
- open it in Quicktime and everything (including the german umlauts) is displayed correct.
- export it into a Text-file with description
when I open the new text file in Quicktime, the fonts are displayed in asian letters, but when I view it in the Texteditor, the text is almost correct, BUT the umlauts are not ok. So I go on with...
- correct the umlauts and save a new file as Unicode (UTF-16) again.
After I open the new file in Quicktime, the text is completely gone. As the text file seems to be ok in the Texteditor, I guess there must be something wrong with Quicktime. I tried to reinstall Quicktime 7 from the "Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard" Installation-Disc, but the problem persists.
I' would appreciate any help...

I'm having the exact same issue. I have created my movie in IMovie 09 then under the "share " menu I sent the movie to iDVD. Everything looks fine on screen, but all I get on the final product is the movie.
After digging deeper into the tutorials all they show is dragging a movie into the idvd shell, not sharing via imovie.
Thus I'm currently attempting to create a quicktime movie then drag it into the IDVD shell. I think that way the chapter markers and everything should show up and burnt into the final project. I'm guessing the "share" option with the IDVD from iMovie doesn't work properly???
