Everything on ipod works except when i go to "sleep"

when i click the sleep button it doesnt do anything
and when i hold down the play/pause button to turn it off it also doesnt work

i had the same problem but i just got a new video converter and made it convert videos to ipod/iphone format and then put them into itunes. i would suggest GOM encoder as the encoder can convert them and then once they're finished converting, put them automatically into your itunes for you. from there you can just sync them to your ipod.

Answer is no.
If you want the iCloud backup you have to have n internet connection, thus WiFi.
The not working WiFi has happened with quite a number of users.
It is not exactly clear what is the cause but there are suggestions to clear it up:
Some people have had success by removing an apostrophe from the iPhone name. If your iPhone is called something like “John’s iPhone” then this might work. Go to Settings > General > About > Name and change it to something with no apostrophe.
Some people have reported success by putting the iPhone into Airplane mode and then going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, but the problem may return.
You could also try going to Settings > Control Center and disable Access on Lock Screen then turn your iPhone off and on again.
Make sure that your router firmware is up to date.
Try backing up your iPhone and then restoring it. Check how to factory reset an iPhone for details.
If nothing is working for you, try contacting Apple or take your iPhone into an Apple Store.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I had that happen with a MacBook. It turned out that the metal case above the slot was slightly bent down.
Putting a flat blade screwdriver in the slot and gently twisting it to move the metal case up allowed it to eject. Don't put it in too far you only want to bend the case not the drive.
The case can get bent down by picking it up with your thumb pressing down on the case above the slot.

IPod USB charging when iBook/Powerbook is sleeping

Hello all.
We've got two iPods (a 5G and a 4G) and two portable Macs (PowerBook and iBook).
Here's the issue: when our computers are sleeping (ie. the lids are closed), but also plugged into the wall, we could charge our old 4G iPods using the FireWire cables.
Now that one of us has upgraded to a 5G (which doesn't sync through FireWire), and the other has switched to using the USB cable to sync/charge, we've noticed that the iPods don't charge through USB when the computers are asleep but plugged in.
Is this the experience that other iPod/Mac users are having? Is there a way to force the iPods to charge when the computers are sleeping AND powered, or do iBooks and Powerbooks need to be awake to charge an iPod through USB?
I understand why a sleeping iBook or Powerbook that's NOT plugged in wouldn't charge an iPod -- it doesn't with FireWire, after all. But a computer that IS plugged in? How inconvenient if I had to open my computer every time I'm trying to charge up the iPod!

Powering a device through the USB bus requires that the CPU on the host machine be active in order to arbitrate power for different devices and warn the operator if a device is drawing too much power from the bus. Since the CPU doesn't do anything while the computer is asleep, devices cannot be powered while the host is asleep. Power used by FireWire devices is drawn directly from the power supply and doesn't need any information from the CPU while the computer is plugged in. When on battery power, FireWire ports are shut off while the computer is asleep to save battery time.

TS3274 The sound works except when trying to watch television. IPad updated yesterday. Sound for TV worked fine before update. Could it be the update that has caused this glitch?

My iPad updated yesterday. Before it updated, the sound worked fine when watching aTV app. Now the sound works on all apps except the TV (e.g. ESPN) and then there's no sound. Could the update have caused this or what may have cause this? Any ideas?

Everything in iCloud working, except for the Mail

Hello everyone. I'm completely confused right now with my iCloud account. I updated my .Me account when iCloud came out, but I just didn't log in for quite some time. I log into my Apple ID and it shows that my iCloud, Me, and Mac accounts are all verified, but when I try to set up my iCloud account on my Mac, iPhone, or even just try to log into the account online it logs me in without any issue at all, but it will not allow me to access Mail.
When I click on the Mail icon it says:
iCloud Email Needed
To use iCloud Mail, create a new email address by turning on Mail in your iCloud settings using iOS or OSX.
When I try to do this it asks me to create an entirely new iCloud email address. I know need another one...I just want this one to work. Has anyone seen this before, or know what I can do to remedy it? Any and all of your help is much appreciated!!!

When I close firefox "everything " is cleared! EXCEPT when I open it again and anything i have copied to the clipboard (paste icon) remains lit... I believe this can be a security breach because I clear everything when closing firefox !!

I have my settings to clear everything when I close firefox ver 3.6.13. If I copy something to the clipboard, the Paste icon lights up so I can paste the text... which is normal.
The problem is when I close the browser and everything is suppose to clear (history, etc) the PASTE Icon still lights up for me to paste again.
This can be a security breach because I want everything cleared when closing the browser !!!
The only way I can rid myself of this problem is to restart the computer... which clears the clipboard of the operatinging... which is absolutely normal as well.
I should not have to restart the computer each time.
Try It !!! type text in any box... then paste it by using the PASTE Icon
CLEAR all your history, everything ... then close firefox
Reopen the browser... and the PASTE Icon will light up

I only had a few addons installed, I disabled Zone Alarm toolbar, View Source Chart 3.01. I also had 5 separate java console updates/addons, and I uninstalled all but the latest java console 6.0.21. All I have now is Roboform 6.9.98, Firebug 1.5.4, Java console 6.0.21, Java quick starter 1.0. So far, so good, the problem has not occurred today. I hope this is it, I will be more sure after a few days problem free. Thanks for the info.

Global Proxy Profile works, except when device returns to trusted network.

We're using a global proxy profile on iPads (latest model, iOS 6 or 7 makes no difference.) How we load the profile (Configurator or Casper) appears to make no difference either. The devices are supervised (required for GP.) The profile defines a .pac file which tells the filter to allow any traffic to our internal domain (for MDM purposes) and to apple.com (for all the phone-home needs of Apple software, and we just hope the kids won't find **** hosted on apple.com)
Our content filter is DNS-based when the devices are on our wifi (the wifi connectivity is defined in a profile loaded by Configurator.) The content filter system knows our school's WAN source IP, and (in theory at least) does not invoke the proxy when the device is on our network.
When the devices leave our network -- this is a middle-school 1:1 -- the first time a kid tries to use the Internet from his home wifi, the global proxy does kick in, and (the first time per network) requires the student to use any web browser app to authenticate to our Google Apps domain. At this point, that student's home wifi source IP is associated with that kid, and our take-home filter policy kicks in (and any blocked content attempts are recorded in the filter's audit log.)
If I start things off by loading the proxy profile while I'm on the school network, things work as expected -- I am *not* prompted to authenticate, because I'm coming from the known IP of the school, so I'm already subject to the DNS-based filtering policy. The proxy policy is dormant.
If I take that device home and connect from my home wifi, I am prompted to authenticate, and things work as expected -- ****'s blocked, but other content/apps, including Google Drive, Pandora, etc. that we choose not to restrict, all work fine. http and https work fine.
This is where it breaks down. If I THEN take that device BACK onto the school's trusted network, I can still reach http: just fine, but ALL https: traffic (other than the bypassed domains in our pac file) is blocked. The filter vendor has tried running a packet sniffer on their end during this transition (from take-home back onto school network), and he sees *no* https: traffic coming from us at this time. He thinks our firewall or some other thing on our network is stopping the traffic; but, we're not doing anything like that, and we have no https problems when the profile is removed.
I have also tried removing all other profiles and leaving only the proxy profile (and the wifi profile, of course), but same thing. I have tried clearing Safari's cache and history; quitting and relaunching Safari; toggling wifi on and off; resetting network settings; restarting the iPad; nothing works. I have to remove the profile in order for the device to be able to handle https: from our school network again.
The vendor and I are running out of ideas. Anyone else got anything for me to try?

Sure. So, in the Network area of the UT interface, go to Advanced and then Bypass Rules:
Then, you'll see something like this:
Make 2 rules for each of the IP addresses listed below -- 1 for type = Destination and 1 for type = Source. It may be that only one of the two kinds is necessary but I'm not sure, so I did one of each rule for each IP to be safe. So you'll end up with 16 rules total (groan).
This list of IP addresses used by Securly is current as of November 2013 -- if they add more, you may experience intermittent failures, which happened to us once. I contacted support and asked if the IP pool had changed and they told me yes, they had added a couple more.

Of course, if you're not using Securly, you'll need to find your provider's list of IPs and substitute those.

Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

My volume isn't working except when phone calls come in. It does work when I plug in head phones. I don't have the option on the screen to adjust volume.

Also, the "change with buttons" is on. If I reset everything, do I lose text messages and emails and info? Also, I have a 4S and software is uptodate.

After installing Lion, I get an audio "instillation failed" message every tine I turn on computer. everything seems to work except microphone on roseta stone software.

I have reinstalled OS Lion with same results.

If you have an older version of Rosetta Stone, it was coded in PowerPC code which Lion is not capable of executing. I understand that they either have or will have a new version that is compatable with Lion.
