Everything on mac mini works OK but the internet

Prior to upgrading from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 I was having problems with the internet. After upgrading to Mavericks 10.9.5 it settled down for a couple weeks and it is now worse than before. All my Applications work OK with no problems of slowness or erratic behavior. When I have checked my wifi signal it has five bars, clicking on "alt and the wifi signal" at the same time I see the transmit rate will vary from five to 115, mostly five.
I have tried using Network preferences to establish that wifi is working OK, which it says it does, sometimes the wifi will go off for about a few seconds. Internet pages take anything from two minutes to 10 minutes to load, sometime it will say "problem loading ? page". At this point I am not sure what the problem is, furthermore, at first, I thought it might have been Safari, I have since installed latest Firefox and it still behaves the same. I should be very pleased if someone would point me in the right direction before I go to Apple.
My Macbook Pro with has the same operating system, same software and it works perfectly, this makes me suspicious of the Mac Mini Airport.

About NVRAM and PRAM
Try fresh install of the OS to see if corruption could be the problem.
Have you taken the Mini apart?

Sometimes my mac mini wont connect to the internet

I have a 2008 mac mini that for the past two years has had this reoccuring problem. When I try to connect to the internet via my home wifi extreme system, i get an error saying connection timeout, which will not allow me to connect. I know its not a problem with the wifi system because the 3 other people using the system get access to wifi fine. Sometimes i can solve this problem with my computer by restarting it, but most of the times if I leave it alseep for a couple hours it also solves the problem, but like I said not always.
Can anyone please help?

My other two Macbooks will connect to the net both wired and wifi. As of this morning my Mac Mini just stopped connecting all together. I have version 10.6.8. I only really use the Mac Mini to browse the web and watch movies off of my external hard drive.
I've tried connecting to another wireless network and the same thing happens. I tried connecting to different ports on my router and nothing. My Macbooks have zero issues with connecting. Any ideas???

Go to the Application folder then utilities folder.
Open "Activity monitor"
Check you have enough free ram
Check if one process is taking a high % of processor ressources
As BGreg wrote, check free disk space
Your mac may be busy something like indexing your disk (mdworker process or similar)
or some badly designed application may be "eating" your ram free space
... and please use small characters, caps are kept for "shouting"

Mac mini server - Can't access Internet

Hello. Using a Mac mini server as the media server for my house. Not really using any of the Snow Leopard Server services though. Wanted the larger hard drive and didn't need an optical drive so this was perfect for me. At any rate, recently noticed that the Mac mini can't access the Internet. It talks to the other Macs and Apple TVs in the house fine but it can't load a web page. I looked at the preferences and everything and can't see anything wrong. Plus, all my other computers get on the web fine. Any ideas? Is there a specific setting I should check? Thanks in advance.

Can you describe your LAN and how it connects to the internet, as well as how the device that acts as your router is configured to interact with the computers on your LAN and how the individual computers are configured to connect to the routing device?

Check in "System Preferences">"Energy Saver" to see if you have the "Computer Sleep" bar set too low.

Yahoo mail account drops out randomly. I have 2 yahoo mail accounts on my Mac. The primary account works fine but the second account loses connection.

The only way round it appears to be to go into Yahoo on Safari, log out then log bck in again. If I then go back into Mail and right click on the account I cn then get mail for this account without having to enter a password. The problem only started when I installed Lion, but is still the same in Mountain Lion.

What RAM did you buy?
Try reseating the modules, they need to be pushed firmly into the slots before tilting them down into the clips.

I want to switch my Father to a Mac Mini this Christmas, but It's going to take some work. First, he does not use his pc for much. Microsoft Office (98 version), Quicken (2001 version), Outlookexpress, and Internet. OH and his favorite game the internet checkers thing. I want to try to get all I need under a thousand bucks.
I am sure a lot of things will change after leopard but lets talk what we know about.
Mac Mini with upgrade ram to a gig.
upgrade hd to 80 gigs. (He has been wanting to put his music on his computer)
He has a 4:3 monitor flat panel (i like widescreen but I only got 1000 here) and mouse and I have a wireless apple keyboard already for him.
Do I get Apple care? It is a nice chunk of my 1000 allowance.
Can he buy it on his own after wards?
I have to buy him office because he feels that he could never leave Pcs because of Office ( I use neo office) but I'm sure he would not be happy with that.

He use quicken manage his checking accounts. I have never used Quicken before can you export your data?
I heard quicken ***** for mac. I don't believe he uses it for all its features but I would think it would be easier for him to accept quickin then some other third party. Soley based on the name.
