Everything on my iPod has disappeared.

I'm having some trouble with my iPod. I have recently downloaded the new software, and it was working fine until just a few days ago. I purchased a song and a window kept popping up saying it couldn't be copied to the iPod because it couldn't be played on that kind of iPod. And ever since I purchased that one song, EVERYTHING on my iPod has disappeared. But whenever I hook it up to the computer, and iTunes comes up, it acts like all my playlists and songs are still on there. As soon as I eject it, it's completely blank again.

Same problem here.....downloaded the iPod update a couple days ago. Everything seemed fine. Last night I hooked my iPod up to my buddies X-Box and it was acting very weird (iPod name came up as Audiobooks, playlists we are all gone etc etc). When I disconnected the iPod it was EMPTY!!!!! When I checked system info it said 0 songs, 0 videos.....BUT the space remaining on the iPod indicated the music was there (somewhere) as it said I have 36GB (out of 80GB) of space remaining???
When I got home I plugged my iPod into my computer iTunes recognized everything normally!!!!! BUT as soon as I disconnected from the computer my iPod was EMPTY.
I just tried updating my iTunes as suggested above - AND IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything is back up and running - what a RELIEF
BUT WHY DID THIS HAPPEN??????? - ANY IDEAS

    Hi again AnonyMouse,
Can you startup to your install cd/dvd and Repair Disk using Disk Utility?
Insert your insall cd/dvd #1 and then restart while holding down the "c" key. Hold down till you see the bootup grey screen and the spinning cursor and then release.
When booted to the installer splash screen, go directly to the top Menu Bar and select Disk Utility from the Installer Menu. When Disk Utility opens select your HD in the left pane and then the First Aid tab and then click on Repair Disk.
When Disk Utility finishes, note any errors it reports, and if any are not repaired rerun. Quit Disk Utility and then quit the Installer and the computer will restart.
If the computer boots back up to your normal desktop you can then run Repair Permissions from your HD/Applications folder/Utilities/DiskUtility/Repair Permissions.

  • Everything on the desktop has disappeared!

Everything on my desktop has disappeared but you can still access the desktop through a new finder window. Does anyone know how I can make my items on my desktop including my hardrives to reappear?

Certainly couldn't hurt to try Repairing Permissions.
It's not guaranteed to solve your problems, but users here have seen RP fix many strange issues that normally wouldn't appear to be related to permissions.
Open up Disk Utility, select your Hard Drive on the left side, and press the Repair Permissions button.
Let that finish, then reboot your system and see if anything has improved.
EDIT: You could also try trashing your Finder preferences altogether.
    Delete this file and reboot:
    HD > User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.finder.plist

  • Everything in my iTunes has disappeared, how do I get it back?

Basically, I went into my iTunes to discover that everything (Music, TV Shows, Films etc.) has disappeared. I have regretingly not back up my files, therefore I am asking if anyone knows how to get my files back?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Everything from my timeline has disappeared (Adobe CC Premiere Cloud)

The timeline panel is there, but everything that I've put in it (clips, audio, various media, and transitions for them) are all gone. I've saved numerous times and made copies to the same project but everything in every single duplicate file has disappeared.
I checked the file size of my project and although the timeline is blank, it's file size is about 400kb or so. A new project that also a blank timeline is about 37kb, I believe. I've never received any error messages while I was working on it or while I was in the midst of saving it. In the two years I have been working with Premiere, this is definitely the first time I've ever had this issue, and it's been going on for about three days now.
What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to revive my work? This is about the third time I had to re-do the entire thing because everything in the timeline just vanished. I would really hate to spend some more time having to do it over again because it's very time consuming and I am running out of time (this project is due on Monday. It's Saturday now).

Adobe Gamma was discontinued with CS3, the linked thread explains the details.
Adobe gamma was never meant to be used for LCD monitors, only for the old fashioned CRT monitors (the ones that look like old-style televisions) and it won't work at all in Vista or Windows 7, so adobe has stopped including it. I can't remember offhand but it may be on the PSE 6 install disc as an extra (it was either PSE 5 or 6 where they included it but stopped installing it automatically), but in any case you would be better off checking to see if your video driver includes a calibration utility (most do) and using that instead, unless you are running XP or earlier on a CRT monitor.
Is Adobe Gamma not installed with CS3?

  • Everything on my ipod has been erased!! I updated it, then it told me to plug it in so i did. i plugged it in and then it synced by itself. i dont know what to do!!!

    hello people
Recently i updated my ipod touch 5th gen to ios 7.1.1
after i did that it told me to connnect to it to itunes which i did.
then it synced by itself and then when it finished syncing, my ipod restarted and went to the start screen(the one u get when u just set up ur ipod)
Now i have lost over 8000 photos and 20 videos and other voice recordings and homework notes.  Im thinking by it self syncing does that mean that it has overlapped the previous files?
    CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME!?!?

    Restore from backuip
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Can't restore iPod and the music I had has disappeared

My iPod 20 Go wasn't functioning very well, it often played fragments of songs and often skipped songs. And now all the music I had on my iPod has disappeared, iTunes doesn't reconise the iPod and I can't restore it. The iPod seems to be working correctly but the music is not there. In explorer I can see my iPod which seems to be working correctly, I can even open the disc manually and I found that the music that was there hasn't been deleted even if the iPod's settings say that all the 20Go are still free.
    What should I do?

You could try a format of the iPod in Windows. A full format does a check and remap of bad sectors on the iPod hard drive, and you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward. This can also work when the iPod is recognized by the computer, but not by the updater.
First, put the iPod into forced disk mode.
See: How to put the iPod into disk mode.
On your PC, go "my computer" and right click on the iPod, then choose "format". Ensure the settings are at "default" and that "quick format" is not checked. Now select "format". It will take a while, but when that's finished, restore the iPod using the updater.
If you need to, reset the iPod to exit disk mode.
You can also check the iPod's hard drive for errors using Windows ScanDisk.
Put the iPod into disk mode as previously mentioned. Go to "my computer" and right click on the iPod then select "properties", then "tools". Select the option to scan the disk for any errors.
To exit forced disk mode, reset the iPod.

  • My Ipod nano 6 has disappeared from my devices and also from my programmes on my computer. I have done everything it says to do in the troubleshooting. Does anyone know what else I can do?

My Nano 6th gen has disappeared from my devices in itunes and also from programmes on my computer.  I have tried all the troubleshooting and it has not fixed it?

There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
    Delete ALL your email accounts.
    Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON.  Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.

  • Ipod has stopped being recognised by windows or itunes. tried everything

    hi
My ipod 30gb video is no longer being recognised.
    symptoms:
I plug ipod into the usb cradle
    drive appears in 'my computer'
    itunes 7.2 loads automatically
ipod has usual 'do not..' message
ipod screen then brightens with same 'do not..' message then goes back to menu on ipod
    drive dissapears from 'my computer'
nothing updates and itunes diagnostics say connection has failed. all usb hubs reported in diagnostics are ok.
    I have tried:
    1. resetting ipod
    2. windows /manage/settings/ipod checks
    3. system restore
    4. driver removal of ipod
    5. firmware update removal in itunes directory
    6. ipod lead instead of cradle and other USB ports
    6. everything else suggested on the help and support centre
the ipod works fine and I can see/hear all music and video on it and the itunes library matches the ipod
device manager sees the USB device as (0)ipod and says it is working fine
but the ipod is not being recognised??????

    thanks

athlon 2200/gigabyte mobo/1gb men   Windows XP   Apple docking station with IR for ipod

Thanks! But I actually figured it out! Right after I said something about the driver, I went into device mangager. Sure enough even though it did not show up as a drive letter the device manager said is was installed and working.
So I deleted the device out of device manager. Restarted and plugged it in. Although I go some weird error. It found the IPOD and now Itunes sees it.
I believe that killing the process would have done the same thing as you stated.
Thanks to all for taking the time to answer these issues. It beats the apple store or tech support.

  • Wi-fi icon on my ipod touch has disappeared but is still working, any ideas?

My wi-fi icon has disappeared from my ipod touch although the wi-fi is still working. Any ideas?

My Ipodtouch 2nd gen has this problem as of today. Nothing has changed recently, no software update or so. The wi-fi icon (upper left corner of screen next to iPod) does no longer show, although I still have connection to the internet (new pages do open). I tried your (Illaas) suggestion resetting the iPod without success.
I also removed the settings for my prefered network (forget this network) and then reselected this network and entered all required settings. I also restarted my wi-fi router. No success at all. the wi-fi icon won't show.

  • I bought an ipod touch at a pawn shop and it has account registered to another person on itunes. i was wondering since i started my own account with itunes and tried to sync the music and other apps to my account would it erase everything on the ipod

i bought an ipod touch at a pawn shop and it has account and registered to another person on it and i don't know the password. and i started my own itunes account on the computer and when i connect the ipod to the computer the other persons account shows up to be synced to the computer and when i hit the sync button it says that the ipod can only be synced to one library at a time. then it says that it would erase his library contents and all other apps in order for it to be synced to my account. so i was wondering if there is anyway to sync all the music and other apps to my account with out it erasing everything on the ipod.

Do what iTunes is telling you to do.  Wehn you purchased the iPod the apps and other media do not transfer to you.  Then are permently locked/lienced only to the person who purchased them.  Using the stuff on the iPod is stealing.
