Everything reverse in isight

I put some text before the isight. I notice the text is reverse like looking in the mirror. Is it normal ?

Its normal and nothing to worry about. Apple have set this up so that you appear as you would in a normal conversation with some one... face to face.
If you held up the page of a newspaper in front of your eyes, the person facing you would be able to read that page. You would have to be able to read it in " mirror " format.

(0) If you have not installed iGlasses or some other third party software to flip your iSight image, you are likely seeing an optical illusion.
iMovie, like camcorders and other video editing software, actually does NOT reverse the camera image. However, many other apps do. We are so accustomed to seeing ourselves in the mirror that it looks strange when it it NOT reversed.
You can test this by holding something with text on it in front of your iSight. I think you will be able to read the text in iMovie's capture window.
However, when you try the same test with some other apps, like iChat or Photo Booth, you will see that the text is reversed. These are the apps that are actually "reversing" your iSight's image.
Unless you have otherwise reversed your iSight's image using some add-on software, using iMovie is merely a matter of getting accustomed to it. You surely would not want iMovie to show everything, including text, backward merely so it does not look unusual while you are using the camera.
If you want expanded info, keep reading.
Many, but not all, software applications show mirror-image iSight previews. However, different apps work differently.
(1) iChat's picture-in-picture and Snapshot is "mirrored" by design.
However, the view that your chat friends' see will be left-to-right normal. Only the iChat video snapshots you make and your video preview are mirror-image.
(2) You can change individual snapshots made with either iChat or Photo Booth by opening the file with your Preview application and using the Preview > Tools > Flip Horizontal menu command.
Full-featured image editing software such as PhotoShop or PhotoShop Elements can also flip images that have already been saved.
(3) You can change future Photo Booth snapshots with the Photo Booth > Edit > Auto Flip New Photos menu choice.

(4) iMovie is different. Its preview window shows images right-way-around, as is the customary view for movie cameras.
(5) To flip saved video recordings, QuickTime Pro can do it easily. Use QT Pro's "Visual Settings" controls in the "Video Track" section of its "Movie Properties" menu command to flip, rotate, resize, and edit other properties of an already-recorded video.
If you do not have QT Pro but do have iMovie 6 HD, you can use iMovie 6 HD. Import the saved Photo Booth or iChat 4 video clip into iMovie and use iMovie's "Mirror" effect in Editing >Video FX to flip it.
(6) If you really want to change your iSight's image, you can add iGlasses 2 software.
If you frequently record video other than you sitting at your MacBook's keyboard with iSight and iMovie, you might be interested in the huckleberry device.
(7) If you are into no-cost, imperfect, and unsophisticated work-arounds, one kludged alternative would be to position a mirror as best you can so you are making video of your image in the mirror.
(8) If you need more, we will be pleased to detailed suggestions based on the specifics of the question in your response.

Today I bought an X-Fi titanium *hoping* it would have the option in the drivers to reverse my left channel to right channel and vice versa.
I have gone through a lot of trouble trying to achieve this and would definitely appreciate the help in finding a solution.
Why do I need this? When playing games I hear everything reversed *IN MY HEAD*. If I hear something left... it's actually on the right. Thats why I have to either reverse my speakers or wear my headphones backwards. BUT... I have a 00$ headset that doesnt allow me to reverse my headset because it only wears one way.
My game doesnt allow me to reverse the stereo. Does the creative X-Fi software/driver allow this in *any* way?
I appreciate the help!

VLC media player can reverse than stereo chanels for music and movies but i don't know of a way to apply it to games. [email protected]

Boot Camp and Windows 7

I know this has probably been asked, but the search results are all about some newer systems and compatibility issues...
My XP Boot Camp is now officially screwed up beyond any reasonable hope of recovery. I was going to wipe BC and go with Windows 7 this weekend, as I am having trouble getting my XP disc to boot, and it's time to move on anyway. My issue is that I have lost my SL disc, so I don't have access to the latest boot camp drivers. Will the Vista drivers that are on my Leopard (10.5.2) disc work with Win7? I also have an 10.5.8 upgrade disc...would that have any newer versions of the Boot Camp drivers on them?
I have an iMac 8,1 with the standard specs, so I don't know if the older hardware is supported. I do not have a magic mouse (although I might get one sometime)...I have the standard Apple Wired Keyboard & the old Mighty Mouse.

but the drivers for everything is there. isight, keyboard backlight. etc

Camera button not working full stop

Hi,my phone is a few days old,since having said phone is z1 compact,I.cannot take a picture with my camera button if my phone is on nevermind sleep mode,I have tried changing all the settings..the only way of taking a pic is touching the screen button..is there a fault here? My front camera managed to go black while trying out a selfie..also is the front camera , an image flipper? Everything reversed? Really disappointed s far with this phone..I have a button which is redundant what can I do? it's a £400 phone that is unable to take a pic with the dedicated button.

When you try take the picture are you getting a clicking sound? if you are have you tried holding the key down harder after the first initial clicking sound.

No connection on G5 Quad

My Sony TRV 990E connects fine to iMac, Powerbook - but there is no way to make it work with the new G5 Quad (7800GT) Tried everything - all tricks. iSight works fine...
Does anybody know of issues???

Why does MOVE effect return object to original position?

I am trying to implement a MOVE for a CANVAS. The move works as desired however the Canvas returns to its original position. Essentially the move happens and then everything reverses and goes back to the original state. Code is below...

Yes i've trashed my preferences, but I should be more specific as to what I am actually doing. Because I am working from my macbook pro and do not have a "home button" which was the original shortcut to "play from/go to beginning" and because I did not like the replacement shortcut in FCP X to play from beginning (without a home button it was something like Function + Shift something else on a laptop) I became used to Adobe Premiere CS6 and made the return key my "play from beginning" shortcut. It was available and did not have a use by itself (only to confirm changes/choices), did not effect it's use in conjunction with other shorctus so I choose enter as my "play from/go to beginning"...
So when I play from the beginning and attempt to pause or stop the playhead, regardless of how I choose to do it (spacebar or k) it does not stop at that specific instance and always returns to where it previously was. This seems very confusing and inconvenient, I would hope at least one of these shortcuts would actually stop the playhead where it was at that moment where I press stop or pause. It's extremely frustrating knowing that I cannot pause the playhead where it's playing if I choose my "play from beginning" shortcut.
Also since you seem to be a guru and an expert, i'd like to know if you cut with FCPX on a laptop and what shortcut you use whenever you'd like the playhead to go to the beginning of the timeline, end, etc since there are no "home" or "end" buttons on a laptop....

Built-In iSight Image Reversed

When using iMovie HD with my built-in iSight, the image I see is reversed instead of mirrored. I can't find a fix anywhere. Any ideas? BTW, the image is fine in iChat AV and Photo Booth.

A zillion years ago I read Martin Gardner's "The Ambidextrous Universe", and although I seemed to take in and understand his descriptions of why a mirror reverses things left-for-right, but not up-for-down, I can't now remember why that is.
We think nothing of driving a car, looking forward through the windscreen/windshield, then looking up at the rear-view mirror, re-accommodating (converging our eyes towards a nearer object), re-focusing (to a different distance), having everything we see swapped over left-for right, and still we make accurate split-second judgments about distance, speed, safety, etc, involving things both ahead of and behind us!
We look in a mirror, and without - seemingly - a second thought we can touch any particular spot we see on the face there, but hold your watch up to the mirror and - especially if it has a seconds hand - it takes a while to figure out what you're looking at.
It's a shock when you first see yourself as others see you - and it's a shock when you see the face of someone you know reflected in a mirror; their features are all the "wrong way round"!
I well remember.. <..drones on like this for several hours..> ..so I insisted on going back home. But I was about nine at the time.
<back on topic> But, of course, iMovie comes with that great 'Mirror' effect, which lets you set just how much of your clip gets reversed left-for-right. Useful for swapping the first appearance of Roy Batty, the replicant, in "Blade Runner", so that the image is restored to being the "right way round", if you want to..

I attempted to import pics from iphoto to a folder on my desktop but somehow clicked desktop so 45,000 pics loaded, now computer freezes after trying to load everything. possible to reverse this? options? restore hd from time machine? pls help!!!

a further question to restoring my hd from a previous backup on time machine...it says it will erase the hd. does it actually erase everything or does it just erase anything that may have been added or downloaded since that backup? this is confusing to me.
another problem which is part of the original problem is it seems that when i connect my iphone to my computer and iphoto uploads my pics...it doesn't just upload new ones, it duplicates and uploads every picture again...which is why i have 45,000 pics...they are 40,000 duplicates! what's up with that?
I have a macbook pro, and recently updated the os to Yosemite. the iphoto app is out of date, but i'll worry about that once i can figure out how to get all those pics off the desktop. also, i recently purchased and installed 8g of new ram, but that hasn't seemed to help.

the booting and walking away and then attempting to browse and clean method is what i've been trying to do. it won't let me drag and drop and just freezes up and goes to sleep after 2 minutes. it's a never ending battle with very few results. which is why i questioned the method of just restoring the hd from a time machine backup.
do you think restoring the hd from time machine will resolve the issue with all pics on the desktop? and everything will be as it was from the date i restore it from? sorry, as you can tell, i'm not overly computer savvy.
i have a really old desktop mac...i can try connecting the two...how does one boot a mac in 'target mode'?
as for the iphoto cleaning and organizing issue...that is what i was trying to accomplish with importing them to a folder. was going to browse and clean from there...but somehow imported to desktop which is what's complicating everything. once i get them off the desktop i can work on the iphoto issue...which as i mentioned...i didn't take 45,000 pics...i've just taken about 4,500 over the last few years, and they are being duplicated in iphoto. this was my attempt to clean it out entirely and start over. it will basically be a lot of deleting.
one problem, seems to lead me to more...which is just my luck. :-)

ISight - Image reversed in iChat

While I understand that in Photobooth it is possible to select the option to "reverse" the image taken from the camera, it appears that the iSight camera creates only a reversed image when used with iChat.
Is it possible to make the camera work properly, so that the image created is as if you were actually looking at the person??

Isight not working, i tried everything

OK, so I've been through all the discussion threads on this and tried everything. My camera did work when I first got my computer (about 2 months ago), now it doesn't. applications say 'no camera attached'. I have taken out the battery, zapped the PRAM, and done a SMC reset. None of that has worked, I still have no isight. what's next?

I've seen this before working at compusa on an imac. In that case all they had to do was open the back of the computer and reattach the camera cause some wires came undone. This is definitely something apple will be able to take care of, by either repairing or giving you a new one which ever option they see fit. Just keep in mind the down time might be a little longer then you might think. Hop all works out

Yes, he does have agile fingers and they are everywhere! I managed to find a solution to the problem by going to the Language section and resetting to black on white...

Built in iSight Not working- tried everything here so far?

I'm having the "Camera in use by another app" error with my built in iSight on a dual core Macbook Pro. My cam worked in 10.5, but I started getting the error with the 10.5.1 upgrade. Photobooth and Quicktime both can access the camera fine.
Per Apple Tech Support's recommendations, I've uninstalled and reinstalled iChat, zapped PRAM and SMC, trashed various prefs and generally done everything but revert back to 10.5. Tried the ecamm software. Now both Apple Tech Support and I are stumped...

If you have tried all of those and it does not appear in the Apple System Profiler then it is time for....
Shut any Airport Card.
Shut Computer down.
If Ethenet disconnect on end from computer of modem.
Restart Comouter with no internet connection
Restart iChat
Reconnect internet
Log into AIM
Do you have a camera now ?

You need to copy some files and your iTunes folder to the new computer. Do you have a backup of your old computer (or still have the old computer?) Was the old computer a Mac or PC?
