Everytime I come home from being somewhere else my macbook pro(late 2007) will not connect to my airport express(802.11n)
Also, my airport utility can never find the airport express either. It keeps searching and searching. I've downloaded all the updates, as far as I know...
Also, my iPhone 5 won't connect either. And the iPhone 4 I had before wouldn't either!

after i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it to play the next song. Or put it in the UP NEXT.
First, make sure these items have checkmarks next to their names in iTunes. Continuous playback only works on checked items. Itunes will play all checked items in a list whether or not they're from the same album.
If you see that nothing in your library is checked and you want to check everything, hold down Ctrl while checking an item. This checks everything.
Next, fixing the "1 of 1" problem is easily. Select all the tracks that make up the book/album. Let's say there are 15. Press Ctrl-I. Doublecheck that the album box is filled in with the name of the book, and if not, type it there. Enter "15" in the box for the total number of tracks. Click OK. Now all the items should be "1 of 15," "2 of 15," and so on. -
My 13 inch Macbook pro w retina will not install/download OS X Mavericks because it says I do not have the requirements in order to install it. I purchased my Mac this past month on 11/20/13 so i do not have a problem with it being an older version. Please help. This is my first computer so i dont have any experience on how to fix this.
You can't install the App Store version of Mavericks because your model needs a special version. If you ever need to reinstall it, boot into Recovery.

MacBook Pro late 2013 does not show login window after waking from sleep
MacBook Pro late 2013 does not always prompt for login, but opens directly to desktop, even though security settings are setup to prompt for password after 5 minutes. Up to now, this only has happened on battery, machine goes to sleep or lid is closed, 10 minutes pass, lid is opened and desktop is shown instead of lock screen. Console shows, that the machine was actually sleeping (10 min no log entries) and also does not show any error in regards to login window.
This behaviour occurs randomly and I could not track down any root cause/behaviour, yet. Sometimes everything behaves as it should.
Any ideas?

marcusCount me in, I have the same issue, and from what I read here, it looks like a Yosemite/SSD related issue ?
I'm not 100% sure if it started when I put a SSD in my old iMac 2009 (as a fusion drive) or if that's after that when I upgraded to Yosemite...
I did disable auto poweroff like suggested in another thread : Mac freeze during the night sleep.
sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0
We'll see if it helps.

I recently switched from LinkSys to Airport Express 802.11n. I love it...but now I my Wii can't see it so I can stream NetFlix. I have found MANY discussions on line about this...but it's still not clear to me. Anybody have a step by step way to fix this? Thanks! Jim Matherly
Well, the Airport Express is also compatible with 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g. If your Wii is unable to connect to the wireless network, I recommended changing the wireless security of your network.
Open Airport Utility, select your Airport Express and click Edit. Navigate to the Wireless tab and change your security from WPA2 Personal to WPA/WPA2 Personal. Then click Update on the bottom right. -

I have a 2007 Macbook, so it's probably a lot older than your Macbook Pro, but it sounds like what happened to me, except that mine hadn't travelled anywhere. I pulled out the ram and blew out some dust, popped them back in, and wha-la! it turned back on and worked better than ever! Or otherwise you've got a dud/old/warped/fried battery, which is also what happened to my laptop - it got so bad it did what your laptop is doing. Ordered a new battery online and all good since then. Or otherwise, like the previous post asked, 'is it plugged in?' -
In order to simplify moving all my files from the previous mid-2012 macbook pro 15' when moving to my new late-2013 macbook pro, i superdup-ed the full hard-disk to an external ssd. Unfortunatelly the new mac resuses to boot from this external disk (i get the grey disk with a line over it). The external disk works just fine so if I boot the new mac from its internal SSD I can read/write the external disk without problems.
Old OS X is 10.9 as is the OS on the new mac.
What I need to do is to boot the new mac from the external ssd, use the same superduper to copy the external content onto the internal ssd.

The Late 2013 MacBook Pro uses a special OS X Mavericks version which makes OS X compatible with it, and older OS X versions do not work with it. That's the reason why you cannot start up from the external drive created from the Mid 2012 MacBook Pro -
I was previously able to use my AppleTV with airplay and iTunes home sharing to my 2 macbook pros and my iPad. However, it has suddenly stopped connecting to both airplay and home sharing, even though both are turned on and the correct itunes account has been logged into on all devices. We have reset AppleTV but that has not resolved the issue. There is no airplay icon on any of the macbooks or iPad. Has anyone else experienced this and found any solutions? Thanks.

I am purchasing tv shows from the itunes store to my macbook pro. I can't sync them to my itouch. I used to get 2 version to download an HD and non HD no longer happening. What is the problem? Never had an issue before just started.
You did everything 'right' and yet in most cases such as you present, it turns out to be a bad SATA cable 99% of the time.
I, too, have a Late 2011 15" model and never had a problem with my SATA cable and my SSD. Most people don't. But then there are those few who do.
You can likely find a 'warrantied' cable on www.ifixit.com - however, I've never heard of anyone having problems with the much less expensive options on eBay!

Hands off calling from Macbook pro to iPhone 5 not connecting
I cannot get my iMac to make a phone call using hands off through my iPhone. It continues to tell me they are not connected to the same Wi-Fi, and they are. I got it to work one time the day before after doing a soft reset on my iPhone. What can I do to correct this? All other features are working.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

I need help with the speed of AirPort Express and ATT DSL.
I just discovered this, and it seems to have solved issues with my Time Capsule.
Open AirPort Utility; select your AirPort Express and choose manual setup.
Click >Wireless
Change Radio Mode to 802.11a/n - 802.11b/g
Click >Wireless Network Options
Change Transmit Power to 50%
Check >Use interference robustness < This step is purely optional. It's worth a shot.
I've been noticing issues with performance of my Time Capsule for a while.
It really started with lack of good range, followed by lousy performance with my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. I was lucky to get 10% of what my speed really is (1.5 Mbps vs. 15.9 Mbps). My iMac was the only thing that seemed unaffected.
I attempted to setup a Sony Media Player (stay away from them- junk!) then a Roku XD in my bedroom only 20' down the hall from the Time Capsule (direct line of sight). Signal kept dropping and performance was lousy for both. I want another new Apple TV for the bedroom, but that TV doesn't have an HDMI port. I ended up running an ethernet cable down the hall... until this morning.
After some digging, I found a forum talking about WiFi performance for iPhones and stumbled upon something kinda basically unrelated, but gave me the idea to dig into AirPort Utility a bit deeper. Changing power to 50% didn't sound logical, but lowering output power was mentioned in the forum. AirPort Utility goes from 100% to 50% then lower. Nothing between 50% and 100%. I'll know more about range later today, but I have a feeling it may be mysteriously improved as well.

Came home from dinner... MacBook Pro screen no longer working!
I came home, hit the spacebar to wake up the machine and get back to work. Repeatedly pressed and held the "increase brightness" button, and the "decrease brightness" button too. No change in the completely dark built-in LCD.I held down the start button, heard the clicking whine of restart, heard the "dong" sound of restart, typed some keystrokes after a minute and heard the telltale sounds of the hard-drive opening new windows. Still no change in the completely dark display.
I repeated the hard restart for a grand total of six times. Always twiddling keys after restart, always the same dark result...
So what should I do? I'm covered under Applecare (can't find any paperwork on the subject however). There's an Apple Store in town.
Is there some obvious thing I'm missing?Jason, the paperwork shouldn't matter as I presume you registered with Apple. They keep pretty good records of where machines have been sold, etc.
Start from the original installation dvd by holding the C key at startup. Assuming you get the normal startup screen with the 'Select your language' screen, do so. The next screen will have in the menu bar 'Tools'. Choose Disk Utility and open this. Select your drive and do a Disk repair. If there are repairs done or a message 'Unable to repair...' you are on the way to recovery. Hopefully it won't be the second message! If repairs have been done successfully repeat the process until you no longer get any errors.
If unable to see your hd from DU you have a serious problem!
If unable to repair, you should get back to us with the result you did get.
If no errors are found, do a Repair permissions from the same window. If this shows some repairs having been done things might be better. Again repeat this process if repairs have been done until there are no more.
After all this restart and see what happens. If you get your screen back I suggest you download the combo 10.5.2 update from Apple/Support/Downloads and instal that. Use Disk utility on your hd to again repair permissions. After all this use Software Update to check for further updates and proceed with these again repairing permissions after they have finished.

Macbook pro early 2011 will not wake up from sleep mode
A couple of days ago, my battery died, and when I plugged in the power adapter, the light didn't come on at all to show it was charging. I tried again this morning, and it is charging just fine. I now have almost a full charge (according to the indicator lights on the side) and the sleep indicator light is slowly flashing, indicating it is in sleep mode. However when I open the laptop, the screen stays black, it doesn't come on. I have tried holding down the power button, and pressing keys on the keypad, all to no avail. Is there something I am missing? Or do I need to send it in to Apple?
