Everytime I open a new tab, the firefox window gets smaller and smaller.

Every since I updated my Firefox, I have had issues. I love firefox so I would like to have this fixed please :) Well, everytime I open a new window or tab, the Firefox window gets smaller. Kind of like I hit the button by the close screen button. I have to actually hit that button to minimize the screen and hit it again to maximize it. It is sort of annoying. Is there something I can do?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

WELL. My wonderful girlfriend showed me how to fix it since I couldn't find a solution throughout Firefox's troubleshooting. BASICALLY. I restarted firefox. And voila it's fixed.

When I open a new tab in firefox I get a Bing search. I do not want that. I tried to disable it in addons but bing bar is not there.

I had the same problem and this was due to a toolbar. To determine the problem, at the opening of my new tab, I used "page informations" in the "Tools" menu, and pop-ups, I clicked on "Medias", which my given the name of the toolbar in question through the visible url. You can check for issues with the new tab page setting.

You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page and set that pref to your preferred new tab page.
* the default new tab page with the tiles is about:newtab
* the default home page is about:home

The browser.newtabpage.enabled pref should be set to true to use the page set via browser.newtab.url as the new tab page.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Opening a new tab in Firefox 16.0.1 the focus is on the address bar but then moves to the search field

When I open a new tab in Firefox 16.0.1 the focus is on the address bar for a second or so then the focus moves to the search input field. If I start typing something the first character fills in the address bar then the rest is typed into the search field.
How do I get the focus to remain in the address bar as per previous versions please?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

You can find the New Tab button showing as a '+' on the Tab bar.
You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab button that shows as a plus sign (+) from the Tab bar on another toolbar and it will become a regular toolbar button like the New Tab button that you have in Firefox 3 versions.
If you can't find the New Tab button then click the "Restore Default Set" button in the Customize window. 
If you want the New Tab button at the far right end of the Tab bar then place a flexible space to the left of it.

A few times a week

Firefox is shutting down windows I want to remain open. Example: I am done viewing one window. I click the X to shut the window and it shuts two windows. Every single time, attempt to close one windows, two windows close. Lately, I have been opening several windows with nothing but google search, just so it will shut that window and not something else I want to remain open. I could understand this if I was using tabs, but I am not. This has been going on for over two weeks. I don't like going back to history to open a window, I did not want closed in the first place. Did you remove your personal data when uninstalling and have created a new default profile folder?
It is possible that you previously had an extension that set focus to the location bar.
