Everytime I open an app on my Imac the colored wheel spins and computer locks up without opening what I want. I can't get past my initial screen saver screen. Can't even go to Apple/AboutThis Mac... color wheel just starts and doesn't stop.

My problem is after updating to Yosemite does my mail client any longer. I can not even open the mail, and when I "forced closes" mail and try to open it again to go in the entered settings running the colored wheels around and allows me only to forcing close again? does anyone have a solution to the above problem?
You mean the default OS X mail app? Try reinstalling OS X Yosemite if that's the case.
If you are referring to 3rd party mail applications, that's a compatibility issue. Some apps don't work in the new operating system. You have to wait until the developer updates the app, or you have to revert back to Mavericks to continue using it. -

When i open up safari, it will not load anything and the color wheel spins as long as safari is open. Not sure what to do.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2. -
When I try to turn my iMac on the circle just spins. I tried holding down the control and option button but it still won't turn on. Any suggestions?

On start up of my new iMac it locks on the grey screen with the apple logo and the progress wheel spins. Boot up in safe and this is where it stopped at "BootCacheControl: Unable to open /var/db/bootcache.playlist: 2 no such file or directory. "
Reinstalling MacOS does NOT fix the problem for me. I'm still searching a solution !

When I send a photo directly from iPhoto using the Mail app on my iMac, the wrong photo appears on my iPad2 Mail app. However the correct photo shows if I log into gmail on the iPad2. I assume there is a glitch with my "Mail" app on the iPad2? Any suggestions for getting the correct photo to show on iPad2?
Update: I was able to have the correct photo show in my email as received on my iPad2 by changing a setting on my IMac prior to sending the photo on the email.
On the iMac, I went into iPhoto > Preferences > Email photos using > Mail (in lieu of "iPhoto"). This seems to have corrected the issue. I'm not sure why. Now the correct photo shows up when received on my iPad2. -
Tried to open an app and my iPad gen one froze. It only shows the apple on black screen and will show the operating wheel sometimes and while plugged in it will beep every few minutes. Will not load one show anything on screen but the small white apple.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have a pretty extensive library of photos. Yet everytime I open the library, Aperture freezes. Al I get is the color wheel.
Any thoughts on what to do?Please provide info on your hardware and workflow so we can help you to troubleshoot your workflow.

Is there an app that can read the adresse in calender and use it in a gps app so you dont have to right it 2 times.
If it is a complete address, and is formated properly, it should appear as a link. Tap on it and it will open the Maps App.

I am new to Using Apple. I've had my Imac for about 5 months, Recently when I log on to my Yahoo mail, if I click on any of my email, or if I try to compose an email, the color wheel turns on and it just freezes up, I am not able to view my email. If you are using web based email (accessing from Safari), from the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab.
Click: Show Cookies
Delete all Yahoo cookies.
Now from the menu bar again click Safari / Empty Cache.
Restart your Mac, launch Safari. Try Yahoo.
If the problem persists, there's a better way to access your Yahoo mail without a browser.
Launch the Mail application. Either from your Dock or Applications folder.
From the Mail menu bar click Mail / Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Click + under the Accounts window on the left.
Type in your name, Yahoo email address and password.
Click: Create
No more having to use Safari or any browser to access your Yahoo mail. Just click the Mail icon in the Dock. -
It loads as if nothing were wrong, but when I try to click on any program, the cursor just spins and spins. Even when I click the Apple in the upper left corner nothing happens. The cursor just spins. When I hit the keys for force quit, nothing happens. Nothing will open.
I've loaded it in Safe mode, verified the disk (it was okay), and verified and repaired permissions and I am still having issues. When I load in Safe mode, all applications work just fine. I've deleted all contents of my downloads folder (before my computer messed up, the last thing downloaded on my computer was a word document from my friend's email that she'd opened on previous computers with no issue). I don't know what else to do. I have Windows loaded on my Mac and can log-in the Windows side with no problems (that's how I've been using my computer since my Mac side has stopped working).
I'm running version 10.6.8.

I can't sync like in past with my iPhone 5 to MacBook... color ball spins and it want's to go to App Store? Never connects
In past, when I connected USB cable it tarted syncing... now it shows grey IPhone so it knows it's connected, but doesn't let me select it. I keeps going to the store and never "responds" so I have to Force Quit each time.
I tried using Bluetooth and it almost worked but then said the iPhone didn't support my MacBook. ?!?
I figure everything is so automated (old term from an old guy) that I've missed something. I miss the Apple 2e's and c's sometimes. I have continuously over the last 6 months struggled with syncing my iphone and ipod with itunes The app continually crashes during the picture import. AND by the way it takes 10-15 minutes before it even attempts to import photos. The screen says importing photoes but doesnt try to optimize or anything for 10 minutes. I have a 3gs with 16Gb so its not a cheap phone. I have 10Gb free. I have 6600 photoes. This is very frustrating and undermines my confidence in your products. My ipod is an ipod 4 with 16Gb also. It does the exact same thing to it. The last time, I had to import photoes a few at the time and with it taking 10-15 minutes each time for 6600 photos it is a long frustrating process. But it will import every photo a few at a time. The error message is just that itunes has stopped working. no hint as to why. AND of course, my phone is out of use for the entire time. You guys must not want to believe ur phones are a necessary tool...or maybe you dont want the consumer to believe it is. I have tried to find solutions on your website as well as through other 3rd party communities. Ultimately they were of no use. I stumbled onto my solution by accident since Im a bit of a computer geek...a semi-geek.

basically whenever I try to sync my ipod touch 4G 64GB it crashes iTunes when it begins the pictures. if im lucky ill get 4-5 on there before it stops responding. its not my system or anything im running win7x64 8GB DDR3 ram (Corsair XMS3) AMD FX Eight core processor.
It is silly that iTunes cannot add pictures to apple devices. it shatters whatever incline I may have to buy apple products. knda like the Airport Extreem router my dad bought the new firmware, caused my router to not function... why release firmware that breaks a product. -_- <-- off topic but still -
What is the best way to transfer apps, contacts, et cetera from one iPhone (3G) and computer (2006 MacBook) to a new iPhone (4S) and computer (early 2011 MacBook Pro)? I have already moved music, among other things using Migration Assistant but I cannot locate contacts or Apps.

I paid for the student creative cloud and was able to download the actual software but my Mac will not open the installer for the cloud. I click on the download (which is the installer) and all I get is the color wheel that shows that it's having issues completing the task. The "Finder" also says that it is not responding while trying to open the download. Any suggestions on how to get the installer open?
